Just seeing how Matt works with his dogs has changed the way I work with my dog, and we are having more fun.
What he says in the end about the variables to train for is also super helpful. Understanding the trade-offs and choosing goal (eg speed vs perfect choreography) really helps.

I continue to be stunned by the qualities of humans who think and feel differently and succeed by making it about connecting with our dogs' feelings. I wish I had better words to say thank you to Susan Garret in an amazing interviw with Matt Folsom. I am humbled and grateful. raphael nyc

      - I know right! lol - I saw a meme the other day, it said something like - "I am avoiding people and developing an unhealthy obsession with my dogs" lol lol SO relatable! I'd rather be with my dogs, playing with my dogs, exploring and training with my dogs than anything else haha

I was very exited to see Matts videos. I love that he is fading out the tools and morning in to a positive reinforcement based trainer. Especially because he is training Malinois.

So wonderful to hear confirmation of something I've felt for a while but couldn't quite articulate, that is the style or method is less important than the skill (and consistency) of the handler.

Awesome episode!!! I'd love to be a fly on the wall for your future conversations with Matt Folsom and would definitely love to see him back! One thing that he said that resonated with me is how planning sessions can feel demotivating for him. My dog and I play your games every single day, lots of Daily Quickies and setting up habits, but I'd say we are a bit more spontaneous about it. (I have my long and short-term goals in mind but nothing like you suggest)...I've tried many times to make detailed plans... and haven't followed through with plans, and then I kinda experience a guilt cycle when I don't...I often feel like I'm more fun for my dog when I'm spontaneous too- That said, I'm so lucky to be a part of Recaller's, H360, and Agility Nation, so all I have to do is watch the training videos... but I also know a lot of people in these classrooms are SO organized and take data and plan the dates that they will play specific games, etc. I know I'm not alone in having trouble with planning, as other people have posted about it. I'd love to hear from Matt how he plans to not plan and how he sets goals and moves forward. Thanks for introducing us to Matt! Thank you for these episodes! As Natalia says, you really are our Fairy Dog Mother

    This is awesome 💜
I have 4 adult Cane Corso dogs, with 2 of them having just turned 3yrs old, and while they're goofballs with me, they're both quite intense and high drive. ❤
I've never seen a protection dog trainer who's all positive reinforced training 😊❤

It's interesting to hear Matt talk about "do-overs". I've been around dogs all my life, and I've never witnessed a dog do the kind of stuff he showed or what Susan has shown. You can't do "100 takes" to get that kind of behavior. You can fake a trick or a teaching session, but not that many tricks with that much self-control in an open area like that.

I have a request for Matt, if he happens to see this by chance, could you make an update video on what your training techniques and philosophies now are? You talked about not using prong collars anymore (which is great!), so I was wondering if you still use punishment (positive punishment especially) in your training? Thank you!

Matt is autistic? He don't look & act like he is autistic of any kind! Hard to believe😊 Matt is an excellent & awesome trainer, & amazing! Where was he when I had my german shepherd? I gave her to a friend of mine because I could not handle her anymore & I regretted it for a long time. She hated other dogs! Every 1 she'd see she would try to run and attack them! She almost pulled my shoulder out of place.

Why do people still continue to breed when there are so many shelter dogs that need a home!
