I just ordered a pair, I think it’s my 5th pair of Aeons. I tried Mesmers earlier this year, and even if Iiked them, I still prefer my Aeons. To me Aeons are almost perfect except for the speed of the soul plates, they can deel really slow when doing alleyoop tricks
Great review and skating! As the Aeon has a pretty low toebox and people (like me with a high foot) stuff tennis balls in there to make it a bit higher, does the skin alleviate a bit of that issue? Or is the plastic shell underneath the eyelets exactly the same?
@@LocoSkates ah ok. But then again: the tennis ball trick really helped me and would work here as well and I guess the second skins are very low profile as well (I have the intuition v2 in them and no 2nd skins).
I think the downside is the souls are a bit thin, and if you wear through then you either gotta frankenstein som kinda soul sliders on them or new entire boot, other than that they are really nice
I love my Aeons but I did notice immediately going from my old throne allstars the soul is slow on unwaxed stuff. absolutely fine if you wax everything though so not a major issue.
Can anyone comment on the lower ride height of these? Is there a noticeable difference people feel from being lower than other skates? Also how maneuverable do these feel in comparison to using Oysi 257mm frames?
It's a bit of a late reply, but I went from aeons to sl with oysi medium to try get a similar feel. I definitely notice the difference especially in the frame height, but also the soul height, it feels like you are right on the obstacle. I think I will be going back to aeons next.
Was surprised there was no talk of the non UFS implications? I assume there are replacement frame-souls available? Or are the skates just done once you wear through them? That's the main concern I have really. Also no talk of fitment. True to shoe? I'm a size 9.5/10 in DC/Vans/Etnies etc but have to roll an 11 in my Gawds.. and USD carbons i run a 10.5 so not sure what size for Aeons! Still, look sick, great review otherwise and grats on the torque slide!
@@Franz_giblet yeah but Sam's has a liner.. and is not a 'normal' Aeon right? so that means a generic fitting might not be right.. But yeah I will go try to find this.
This was the main point of concern from our group of skaters. However I’m still skating the same frames from 2008. 😂 I haven’t seen anyone wear through the frame on the skate yet and they have been out for a few years now. I have seen people cut off the frame and fit a UFS frame. But that’s more the people that like to modify their skates. The only replacement parts on the aeon.. is the cuff/bolts/wheels/laces. If you were concerned about going through your soul plates or noticing a slow down in grind based tricks. You can go for the “slix sliders” which you have to DIY fit them to your soul plates. But they will extend the life of the boot. Hope this helps
@@flikstRR what is your foot size in mm? I have a 275mm mondo and wear the size 43 but with a 2nd skin liner there’s too much room so either the basic liner or the crown liners fill them out nicely, I can just fit the 41/42 shell with a size 43 2nd skin but my toes just touch the end but are skateable, I do have narrow feet tho. Unless you skate rough concrete the frames do last a long time.
Apologies! Sizing stuff got chopped but all info on our website. Aeon is a unibody boot/frame so you have to replace the shell if you wear through (that’s less common these days though!)
Question 🙋♂️ how’s the size whit this liners I have size 10 aeons but I still got some wiggle in my skate wondering if I can fit in a 8-9 whit out getting my feet squeeze LOL
Depending on your foot size you might need a thiner liner. I'm downsizing from 10-10.5 to 8-9 my foot is 275mm and it works but i'm using intuition v2 liners.
Iv got a pair and their scary fast wicked bearings I had to change them to normal abec 9 as I couldn’t even stand still with out moving like skating on ice with them wicked bearings but I’m gona try the abec 9 should be abit slower hopefully
Congrats on the new place, yall deserve it. Sam is a madman. Killin it

11:30 that carving noise is just sublime...
It would be incredible just to stumble across a pro testing their new skates. Love these kind of videos!
"You're probably a top sunny in shorts kinda guy aren't you?" 😂
Lovely looking skates
quite possibly the sexiest skates ever made, would love to cop a pair.

If you look closely at the summing up section at the end you can see Sam's shadow wielding a knife 😅🔪

Cheers! No, it’s still the same underneath

@@art0nblades Yeah the 2nd skin fits the boot better than an intuition (especially the newer intuition liner which has quite a fat toe box)
Going to buy a pair now.

That footbed looks completely different and way more high end than the usual MyFit footbeds for sure.

Usd give a mondo point measurement as do other manufacturers, measure your foot in millimetres and buy the size skate accordingly 🤷🏻.

A72's are the BOMB! and 200 cheaper than the Yasutoko Pros!
Yes, they will get very slow on coping in time, ledge speed will remain ok-ish.
Gonna miss the red if I have to replace mine!

What size/mondo are You and what size Aeons do you skate?
Top sunny!
✅
Aren't they just like the old Loco 's Aeon ? The same black and white look?
These have a black skin instead of paint
3:01 talks about the loco skate
😮
Can I buy them off you when you're done? 😅
Sure. Might still skate them for a few weeks though.
It was good in bo🎉 ways
