Thanks Curtis! I inherited all my dads tools when he passed away unexpectedly at 68. I had no idea how to use this system and was so pleased to see your explanation . Great video.
Thanks Curtis. I appreciate your help with this tool demo. You are a great instructor. Some people just cannot convey thoughts and ideas all that well but you come across clearly and concisely. Hope you and your family are having a great holiday.
Thank you so much. I'm trying to learn woodturning and one of the few things stopping me is the sharpness of the tools I've inherited. Been looking at the Wolverine system and your demo was very thorough.
One thing that I have found to keep from altering the bevel angle is during my setup of the tool I will take a sharpie and color the bevel from heal to toe of the bevel. I then try to match the bevel to the grinding wheel. Turning the grinding wheel by hand I place the tool on the grinding wheel and the colored bevel will show exactly where the grinding wheel is touching the bevel. and I can make adjustments to insure that I am on exactly the same bevel as the one I started with.
Glad I found this video as I do understand the importance of sharp tools. Just bought my first Lathe and tools. Ordered my Wolverine system today and I believe you should get a cut of the profits ;o) I was an instructor in the Army for a while and I can assure you that your teaching techniques and mannerisms are exemplary.
Thank you. This is a very helpful video. What kind of stand do you have the grinder sitting on? I have a small area for my woodworking tools, so I’m interested in anything that saves space. It looks pretty sturdy too.
Which Baldor model are you using on this video? I have an 8100W and I can't get the Wolverine platform close enough to sharpen anything, it bumps into the bench grinder guard. Thanks.
Thanks for the great video. There is a multitude of jigs and shiny objects out there to seduce woodturners. You have reinforced my feeling that I can do anything I need to do with the Wolverine system and the Verigrind attachment.
It is made by Oneway. You can find more of the Wolverine grinder accessories here on the Highland Woodworking website: www.highlandwoodworking.com/search.aspx?find=WOLVERINE
A fine stone, and a diamond wheel dressing tool is all you need, but remember the finer the stone, the better the finish, But fine stones create more heat so you need to go slow and/or cool the chisel in water as you go.
It would have been more helpful if Chris had shot this sharpening in one long take instead of cutting away right when the sharpening began. Disliked the video.
