We watched it live in home room. Our principal sent everyone home early that day. It was terrifying to watch it live was on every channel.
One thing that I always remember seeing this happen live is, after the first plane hit because we had no idea what was really happening. It was when that second plane hit that everybody realized this was on purpose and that feeling of dread and disbelief is something I'll never forget.
i thought the second plane was an accident... that the pilot got lost in the sun or the smoke. that anyone would do this just never crossed my mind. There were supposed to be more planes hitting elsewhere but because Bush shut down airspace immediately, they didn't take off.

I had a friend in the South Tower that day. They started evacuating when the North Tower was hit. She got out just in time to see the second plane hit her building.
@lisasharf1442 i wonder if she were on the same floor a church member of mine were on. After the 1st plane hit, managers were telling them that everything was fine. He left anyway, and thank God he did. The plane hit his floor and killed everyone in his department who was still there. He came across another mutual friend who's leg was broken when the plane impacted. He carried her down and they were one of the last to get out before it collapsed. It literally collapsed about 5 - 10 minutes after they exited the building. She had extreme ptsd and wouldn't go into another building higher than 5 floors for years.
God Bless you, and your empathetic reaction❤! That day is still hard to talk about. I worked around 30 blocks away, my building was evacuated . They locked the city down, so I couldn't get home to Jersey till 9 pm Sept. 12 by boat. We all walked the streets like zombies all night. Shocked. still cry for all the victims.

I have 2 stories that relate to this. My history teacher had a friend that worked in the Pentagon at the time and she ended up dying. My mom showed me this video that this guy was born on 9/11 and his dad had worked in one of the Twin Towers but since he was born his dad went to go see him in the hospital instead of dying in the Twin Towers crash. Have a beautiful and blessed day everyone god bless you all!!❤😊

Thank you for reacting to the events of this day. There is a new generation born after 9/11/2001. May this never be a mere paragraph in a history book. I will never forget where I was when I watched these horrific events unfold. It is still heart wrenching.
I was on the WTC a couple weeks before 9/11. I’ll never forget all the world flags hanging on the 2nd floor. That huge shopping mall. And just being at the very top. I was 11 when this happened. Being from Texas my 17 yr old brother was all into the tallest NY buildings so we went up. That elevator was so very fast too.
Another video about September 11th 2001 that I suggest you check out is called Operation Yellow Ribbon. It’s about what happened with all of the planes that were flying over the Atlantic Ocean at the time the attack occurred and the airspace over the United States was closed down to commercial and private aircrafts. It is a bit long so you might want to make it into two or more reactions.
The people of Gander in Newfoundland are heroes. The air traffic controllers there did a magnificent job landing hundreds of commercial flights in their small town. The people of Gander immediately opened their homes and businesses to the passengers, feeding them, accomodating them. Comforting them. It was the best of humanity. The musical Come From Away is based on them.
WOW…you know what…it’s kinda crazy cause just as much as you guy’s surprise over the realization that you never really truly considered the people in the planes nearly as much as those in the buildings…. I guess it’s somewhat similar to my realization while watching this video, that I also hadn’t truly considered how people view it/the lack of full awareness of it all (assuming that your reactions in this video can be used as an analogous to a lot of the world outside of the US) Awesome reaction…subbed btw😅👍😉
I remember seeing it as it was happening knowing that our country was being attacked. The overriding emotions I felt were sadness and rage. I am 53 right now and I feel the same rage that I felt at 30 that I feel now.
I was 13 y/o in my 8th grade science class when I heard the news about the towers via the school’s intercom. I’m now 36 y/o and I still remember this day like it was yesterday
I love this family! Where are you guys from? Very sad sad day that will never be forgotten. I as everyone that lived it remember exactly where they were when they heard the news
SEE "LOOSE CHANGE" I saw this, then went to work, where I found a Middle Eastern woman crying in restroom!! She said "They are going to blame us all!!!! I worked in Bilingual Education. Moved to University Multicultural Center, where I was for 22 years...and met some of the greatest students and faculty from around the world. Truly a wonderful job!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤❤❤😓
I'm glad you stand up to them. I'm just barely old enough to remember this day, and I still feel the terror. Don't know if you were alive when it happened, but if not, I especially thank you for empathizing with the trauma and defending the seriousness of this event. There is a place for humor in tragedy, but not the kind that dishonors or insults the victims and survivors.
I have 5 children, ranging from 22 to 11….I make each of them watch multiple videos from that day EVERY YEAR, and have since they were born…even as infants. I refuse to ever let this day be made into anything less than what it was. In my house, at least.
tell them to actually learn about the events and not just go off of what happened in 1 sentence. I was born in 95 but I never really understood 9/11 entirely until last year when I did my research. Hits a little different when you learn about and hear the terrible deaths that happened that day
My best friend of 20+ years lived in NYC when it happened. I was in California. For days I tried to call her but all communication was out. I was just in long-term shock. I held it together until I finally heard her voice. Then ALL the emotions came pouring out; the relief that she was safe, the trauma of watching everything happen in real time, the gut-wrenching sorrow for all who were killed, the realization that the safety and freedom I had felt in this country was now under attack... I have never regained that sense of safety or freedom. The mindset of everyone who witnessed 9/11 has been forever changed.
Thank you for watching this and helping remember those that lost their lives and those that walked away. Nobody really mentally walked away from this event. This was such a traumatic event it still to this day makes you look at planes differently.
I remember this day so vividly, that was the day as an American I knew how vulnerable we were. It was also the day I discovered how quickly Americans will unify against an enemy and put our differences aside to become 1 unit of brotherhood. That said, I question our ability to unify under these circumstances today with our extreme division.
I lived that day. And i cry again today watching the video together with these people thank you to them to watch. I get really frustrated when the new generation of americans are in the streets with flags and chanting the name of terrorists, to me it's a slap on the face, but everyone is entitled to an opinion even if it's a cruel and misguided one.
Thank you for remembering, passing it on to our younger generation in hope they will never have to live through something like this, honoring those who died and sharing our sorrow.
Thank you all for your heartfelt emotions. I was a Deputy on outside perimeter at Sarasota/Bradenton airport on 9/11 while President Bush was at the elementary school. I'll never forget that day.
@georgesale8728 no they do not. I spoke with my 13 yr old nephew. He knows about 9/11 and what happened. He studies history. They don't teach about WWII, Our Founding Fathers, the Civil War...he studies and researches topics. But in schools they do not.
Thank you for caring enough to learn more about these 4 incidents. The footage and recorded conversations of the passengers held hostage on the 4 planes took awhile to be processed for release after long holding periods. Tell all to breathe deeply,, all is well. Please consider 2 videos on TH-cam that are about operations directly after the attack. Know these are uplifting and will put smiles on those beautifully faces there. They both may well restore to you all some faith in humanity again. 1st is: Boatlift An Untold Tale of 9/11 Resilience 2nd is: Operation Yellow Ribbon Take Care -- Hold each other close with love shown every day!
We will never forget that day. I lost my very dear friend Philip Ognibene would worked on the 89th floor of tower 2 of the World Trade Center. I am so touched you watched this as a family. Thank you for making sure we don’t forget 9/11.
There were 4 planes. The plane got saw in the field the passenger's fought the hijackers and the plane crashed never reaching the target which i believe was headed for camp David or the White House. Those people sacrificed their lives to save others
Thinking of how scared and desperate so many people were knowing that their lives were about to end makes my heart hurt so bad. I hope they know peace now.
I was at work, on the phone with a co-worker who was at home with her TV on. All of a sudden, she just screamed and told me to turn on the TVs at work, so we did. She was from NYC and all her family still lived there.
We watched this video in my high school on sep the 11th and honestly I struggled to hold back tears ngl especially during those phone calls no lie got to me
I'm just thankful that you're sharing this. I was in the US Navy when this happened. My niece has very little knowledge of this day. My children are very aware. Sometimes it's not up to schools, it's up to us. This was a horrible day.
i was 7 months pregnant at the time. i worked next to delta airlines. our entire street downtown was blocked off. no busses, cars etc. i had to walk all the way to the parking lot. took 2 hours to get home and i was completely swollen. ended up with pre-eclampisa and was in hospital that night. oddly, it was over 85 degrees in september. baby came premature
I have been watching 9/11 videos a lot lately, maybe because just had the 23rd anniversary. I was at work in PA when this happened. It is touching to me that people from other countries can watch this and cry with us. Thank you.
Betty was Betty Ong a flight attendant on the first plane to hit. She was on the phone with the authorities on ground for 23 minutes relaying information from the other flight attendants closer to the front of the plane until it hit the first towner.
There were infants on those planes. Can you imagine the horror of having your infant in your lap and this is going on? It is all just so terrible. I rewatch all of this every year on the anniversary. And I cry and remember all those poor people. You know, hundreds of people jumped from the top of those buildings.
6:36 Kevin Cosgrove was on the phone, the building collapsed and hearing his last moments was terrifying.....6:51 was Melissa Doi...she was inhaling smoke and it was really hot along with a few other colleagues, an officer was talking to her and she went unconcious later on figuring out she died after 20 minutes of talking to her trying to keep her awake then it collapsed before Kevin Cosgrove
I remember that day like it was yesterday, i was 21 years old and on holiday in Greece, we left the beach and walked up the main strip, every bar, restaurant and shop had the live footage on. We were leaving in 3 days, i just wanted to be home with my family, the airport in Rhodes was chaos 😢❤
I remember the next day there were American flags, of all sizes, everywhere! On cars, in so many windows, people were wearing T shirts with flags. Never forget!
When recovery/rescuers were working in the rubble they brought in search and rescue dogs. The dogs were getting depressed and sick from finding dead body after dead body, so rescuers would volunteer to bury themselves in the rubble so the dogs could find some live people to keep them from getting depressed. Also during the immediate rescue efforts the owners of a retired fireboat the John J Harvey (launched in the 1930's) took it down to the seawall to ferry people off to other places. In the middle of their efforts the fire department contacted the boat and asked if the pumps still worked. They reassigned the Harvey her old designation Marine 2 and had her shore up with the other fireboats to pump water for fire fighters for 86 hours till water mains could be restored. She is now a national historic site and takes crowds on tours around New York
Whover feels strong enough to see more of it. The (only) Footage of the first Plane hitting the North Tower was filmed by one of the Naudet Brothers who where making a Dokumentation about a rookie Firefighter who got stationed not so far away from the WTC. They where searching for a gas leak on the Street and he just turned his camera around in time. Wondering why a Plane is so close seing it crashing into the WTC. It is worth but hard to watch. You can find it here on YT.
Please listen to a song by Toby Keith called Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. He wrote it right after 9/11 and it's amazing. Watch the official video. ❤
As a person who had 2 siblings working in the building, it's the most heart-wrenching day. First, the phone lines went down, so we couldn't call or receive calls from them. Secondly, one of my sisters lived in the area, and she had life-threatening asthma, and there was a video shot of that cloud of smoke/dust engulfing her apartment building. I think that's when the panic set in. With God's grace, neither sister went working that day, and the sister that lived in that area wasn't home. God save them. Unfortunately, the sister that lived there has not recovered psychologically. The survivors' guilt and daily trauma have the daily viewing of this tragedy right outside her window. I know this far wanes in comparison to those who lost their lives. I just wanted to share an example of how this tragedy affected so many people.
9/11 is a day I will never forget. I remember crying in my husband's arms. The fear of not knowing what would happen next. We kept our boy's home from school for a week. A friend of mine, his daughter, worked at the Pentagon. Thankfully, he found her section had moved to a new building across the way the day before.
I saw it all happen live as a teenager in high school. Less than 5 min into the video and I'm bawling my eyes out. I lived near a military base and most of us were military families. I still remember sitting in class listening to the military aircraft being deployed before they dismissed school early. By the time the last plane went down we didn't have any tears left to cry. It was like living in a dream. A nightmare. And then the war started which my now husband (who also went to school with me) ended up fighting in for 4 years. I'm 40 now....and I can't watch anything about that day without losing it. Its a very painful memory.
It's okay to cry. I am outside of Boston, we were glued to the tv and I cried for 3 days for all of those people and the pets who's owners never came home. It still makes up choke up to this day 10/3/2024 Then we had the Boston Marathon bombing. Hudreds of people had their legs blown off.
i went to church shortly after the second plane hit the WTC, after Mass was done, we were out in the parking lot listening to the radio and they announced "we interrupt this program for breaking news". I said, "what can be more breaking that they're interrupting this?" that was when they said the Pentagon was hit. Worst single day ever.
Another painful memory is seeing and hearing (even on television) the eerie quiet at ground zero after the collapse of the towers and hearing the deathly silence pierced by the chirps of hundreds of firefighter PASS devices going off underneath the rubble. 😢
It sounds corny when we say "Never Forget" because we literally will never forget this day. I remember vividly what happened this day. I was a senior in HS about 45 minutes outside of DC and many of my friends had parents working in the Pentagon. This day changed our lives forever. I see this as the turning point between child and adult for me. This is the moment I knew true evil lived in this world and that no one is safe. The most vivid memory I have was watching people jump to their death on live TV to save themselves from the fire. Traumatizing for an entire generation. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this day as it lives on in our memories every day.
Every caller you heard on the video passed that day. Almost 3000 people in total, between the four planes, the two towers, the Pentagon and the field in Pennsylvania. The passengers on the last plane, flight 93, were the only ones to get information about the other planes and fought back to stop it from reaching its destination, which is believed to either have been the US Capitol building or the White House.

The people of Gander immediately opened their homes and businesses to the passengers, feeding them, accomodating them. Comforting them. It was the best of humanity. The musical Come From Away is based on them.
I agree with you completely which is why I suggested they watch Operation Yellow Ribbon
I remember this day vividly and always will ...😢😢 R.I.P everyone who lost their lives, you will never be forgotten 😥😥💜💜✌️🇮🇪
Appreciate your words and thoughts fellow people, hurt to see that again. Prayers for you and yours through life’s journey 🙏✌️
A total of 4 planes were crashed. two in the towers, one at the Pentagon, flight 93 crashed in an open field that was meant for the Whitehouse.
WOW…you know what…it’s kinda crazy cause just as much as you guy’s surprise over the realization that you never really truly considered the people in the planes nearly as much as those in the buildings…. I guess it’s somewhat similar to my realization while watching this video, that I also hadn’t truly considered how people view it/the lack of full awareness of it all (assuming that your reactions in this video can be used as an analogous to a lot of the world outside of the US)
Awesome reaction…subbed btw😅👍😉
I remember seeing it as it was happening knowing that our country was being attacked. The overriding emotions I felt were sadness and rage. I am 53 right now and I feel the same rage that I felt at 30 that I feel now.
I was 13 y/o in my 8th grade science class when I heard the news about the towers via the school’s intercom. I’m now 36 y/o and I still remember this day like it was yesterday
I love this family!
Where are you guys from?
Very sad sad day that will never be forgotten. I as everyone that lived it remember exactly where they were when they heard the news
SEE "LOOSE CHANGE"
I saw this, then went to work, where I found a Middle Eastern woman crying in restroom!!
It still breaks Mt heart to watch this!!😢
I was a young mother on that day. I will never forget the horrors but the way our country came together after that was amazing. NEVER FORGET
Kids at my school joke about 9 11. I tell them people died in they shouldn’t joke about it but they don’t care. What a god awful mess
Hits a little different when you learn about and hear the terrible deaths that happened that day
God bless you and your family from California. It was a very dark and sad day... it feels like it happened yesterday...
I have seen so many documentaries every year on 9/11. It always hits hard
I was at work in Las Vegas when this happened. So painful watching this again.
This makes my emotions run so deep this is the only comment I can think of putting here
I remember this day so vividly, that was the day as an American I knew how vulnerable we were.
Thank you for the respect and emotion you shared during this video. This was a very dark moment in our country. Take care my friends.❤
Thank you all for your heartfelt emotions. I was a Deputy on outside perimeter at Sarasota/Bradenton airport on 9/11 while President Bush was at the elementary school. I'll never forget that day.
One question do they still teach this in schools in the United States??? About 9/11
@georgesale8728 no they do not. I spoke with my 13 yr old nephew. He knows about 9/11 and what happened. He studies history. They don't teach about WWII, Our Founding Fathers, the Civil War...he studies and researches topics. But in schools they do not.
@davidjames7382 Is it considered sensitive to teach history??? that's truly sad i hope things change for the better after elections 🙏🏼
1st is: Boatlift An Untold Tale of 9/11 Resilience
2nd is: Operation Yellow Ribbon
Take Care -- Hold each other close with love shown every day!
I felt so bad seeing your smiling faces at the beginning ,because I knew that the video was going to be so upsetting. Thank you ❤
BEAUTIFUL accents❤❤❤
If anything good came out of this check out the boat lift.. it is a positive feel good story........
The boat rescue documentary is intense too
We will never forget that day.
The investigation indicated it was headed for the Capital.
Thinking of how scared and desperate so many people were knowing that their lives were about to end makes my heart hurt so bad. I hope they know peace now.
Everyone on that day really never forget exactly where we were at that exact moment.🇺🇸
I was at school, didn't hear a word about it until I got home.
I was at work, on the phone with a co-worker who was at home with her TV on. All of a sudden, she just screamed and told me to turn on the TVs at work, so we did. She was from NYC and all her family still lived there.
This brought back the same gut reaction as it did in real time. Tears are flowing.
It’s been 23 years and every time I see these videos, my emotions are still raw.
It was the worst day in our history that also brought out the absolute best of our people. Strangers became friends, neighbors became family.
Americans HAVE forgotten about sept 11th.
You should watch The Boatlift, narrated by Tom Hanks. Very uplifting.
We watched this video in my high school on sep the 11th and honestly I struggled to hold back tears ngl especially during those phone calls no lie got to me
It will never get easier seeing the images from that day.
I'm so happy my parents survived. They were a few blocks away from the Pentagon when the plane crashed.
Thank you for your compassion ❤️💔💔
This was so hard to watch 😭!!! But I want to thank you for reacting and caring, it means a lot to me!!!
I'm just thankful that you're sharing this. I was in the US Navy when this happened. My niece has very little knowledge of this day. My children are very aware. Sometimes it's not up to schools, it's up to us. This was a horrible day.
6:59 my heart hurts too much.
Thank you for this reaction
All these years later this still tears me up 💔
I'll never forget that day. I didn't realize we were under attack until I watched the 2nd plane hit the other tower. It was heartbreaking
There was sooooooooo much more than this short video! For real, in love, and kindness, as a Christian, look at more!!!!!!!
i was 7 months pregnant at the time. i worked next to delta airlines. our entire street downtown was blocked off. no busses, cars etc. i had to walk all the way to the parking lot. took 2 hours to get home and i was completely swollen. ended up with pre-eclampisa and was in hospital that night. oddly, it was over 85 degrees in september. baby came premature
It gives me goosebumps 😢
That audio of Kevin Cosgrove is one of the hardest things I have ever listened to. I listened to it once, and only once.
That's why we fight for freedom and have turned into a strong country as time flies by. You see what the U.S. had to deal. 1 like = Respect for USA.
Wow, so hard to watch. Thank you for this video ❤
We said we would not forget...
Please listen to a song by Toby Keith called Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. He wrote it right after 9/11 and it's amazing. Watch the official video. ❤
so sad rip all people involved in this
As a person who had 2 siblings working in the building, it's the most heart-wrenching day.
And people wonder why we feel the way we do. It kills me every single time. Never forget.
i went to church shortly after the second plane hit the WTC, after Mass was done, we were out in the parking lot listening to the radio and they announced "we interrupt this program for breaking news".
The amount of fire and rescue personnel that died is staggering.
