Basant, Third Mehla:
ਬਨਸਪਤਿ ਮਉਲੀ ਚੜਿਆ ਬਸੰਤੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਦੋਂ) ਬਸੰਤ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਹਰੀ-ਭਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
The season of spring has come, and all the plants have blossomed forth.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥
(ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਮਨ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਾਲ) ਹਰਾ-ਭਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
This mind blossoms forth, in association with the True Guru. ||1||
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਸਾਚੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਮੁਗਧ ਮਨਾ ॥
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ ।
So meditate on the True Lord, O my foolish mind.
ਤਾਂ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Only then shall you find peace, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਇਤੁ ਮਨਿ ਮਉਲਿਐ ਭਇਆ ਅਨੰਦੁ ॥

ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੨।

ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਂਞ ਤਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ,
Everyone speaks and says that the Lord is the One and Only.
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਤਾਂ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥੩॥
ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
By understanding the Hukam of His Command, we come to know the One Lord. ||3||
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-(ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ‘ਮੈਂ, ਮੈਂ’ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ
Says Nanak, no one can describe the Lord by speaking through ego.

The season of spring has come, and all the plants have blossomed forth.

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਦੋਂ) ਬਸੰਤ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਹਰੀ-ਭਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
The season of spring has come, and all the plants have blossomed forth.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥

So meditate on the True Lord, O my foolish mind.

ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Only then shall you find peace, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਇਤੁ ਮਨਿ ਮਉਲਿਐ ਭਇਆ ਅਨੰਦੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ,
This mind blossoms forth, and I am in ecstasy.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥੨॥
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੨।
I am blessed with the Ambrosial Fruit of the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe. ||2||
ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਂਞ ਤਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ,
Everyone speaks and says that the Lord is the One and Only.
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਤਾਂ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥੩॥
ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
By understanding the Hukam of His Command, we come to know the One Lord. ||3||
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-(ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ‘ਮੈਂ, ਮੈਂ’ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ
Says Nanak, no one can describe the Lord by speaking through ego.
ਆਖਣੁ ਵੇਖਣੁ ਸਭੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੪॥
(ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜੀਵ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਆਖਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਾਲਕ ਵਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੪।੧੪।
All speech and insight comes from our Lord and Master. ||4||2||14||
