The grand tours budget for 1 episode was usually way more than a top gear budget for an entire season. The first episode of season 1 alone broke records for being the most expensive scene shot for small screen TV.
thats such an american thing, show off with a big budget thinking that matters
I believe it was 3 million pounds per episode for the first season not sure if it increased but those were the rumors
And a Top Gear series was 6-8 episodes; Grand Tour was 10-13
Budget do matters, top gear went as far as dragging some useless car around entire world just to take one photo to prove they don't care about expenses.
I've immatured as I've got older, just like these brilliant buffoons! Makes me proud to be British! 🇬🇧🤪🇬🇧
at 7:35, Hammonds driving a dodge demon. As standard (what the car comes with with no extras) it comes with only the drivers seat, as its meant to be a drag car. Its a bit like a inside joke from dodge. May is insuating by asking which seat that the seat you get as standard may be one of the passanger seats, so getting a standard demon would be useless
James's little car is a Fiat Panda 4x4, they are astonishing little machines about 1500lbs and very capable off road. My first car was a Panda but the ordinary 2wd version and that was so light I could lift the back axle off the ground. Parking in the snow was hilarious, just put the front where you want it and push the back end in line with it 😂😂. Cheap, fun, surprisingly practical and very cleverly designed cars
Honestly the blender explosion never ever fails to leave me crying with laughter
Cato was a character from The Pink Panther movie, Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) had a Chinese assistant Cato Fong.
Please watch the movie!!
He was also in Last of the Summer Wine. The Pink Panther films are brilliant, Peter Sellers was an absolute genius ❤❤❤
To understand who the guy in the boot (trunk) is, that Clarkson keeps talking to, you need to watch The Pink Panther films with Peter Sellers. Kato is a character in the film. Sellers plays a French character called Inspector Clueseau and he 'hires' a guy called Kato (Burt Kwouk) as a
butler/servant but asks him to attack him randomly to help with his self defence training. You should watch it. It's old but hilarious. There's a few sequels too.
We do have personalised number plates in the UK. When I was at school, our math/PE teacher had his initials on his car.
Different countries in europe have different rules, when it comes to personalised number plates. In Romania, for a small additional fee, you can choose 2 digits and 3 letters, within the standard format for the number plates, so long as that combination hasn't already been chosen. The first letter, or 2 letters, refer to your region, but, then, you can choose what you want. For example, my number plate is CJ05 RIL The CJ is because I've registered my vehicle in Cluj Napoca.
the next grand tour special, Sand Man comes out next friday, would love to see you react to that
I believe it's called 'Sand Job'. They do love using puns with these titles ha
i stand corrected, it is Sand Job
@@joecrammond6221the penultimate episode.😢
at 11:02, they are in China trying to give and I quote imdb here ''some valuable consumer advice for business people across all of China'', the scenes you watch have them hiring Chinese Chaueffers to drive, i think so they can show the residents what cars can be like
Did I hear you say you are going to use James Mays todger?
At 16:04 the green explosion was a smoothie he was making using a food blender on passenger seat
HAMMOND!!!! 😂
Funny thing is that "American" units as you call them are actually "Imperial" units, ie ones that were used BEFORE Murica was given its independence due to being too noisy a rabble, self-centred to the point of not realising there's a whole great big world out there and well, simply put ... too greedy and fat! The irony being that in 2024 the US of M is about the only country that still uses the system that belonged to their colonial masters (who, mostly, moved over to the metric system when they joined the EU).
Of course, there are exceptions like yourself (who I'm pretty sure gets the tongue-in-cheek comments above), added to the fact that we in the UK are so thoroughly confused that we still talk about standing feet and inches tall, speeding in miles per hour and drinking pints in the pub ... while meaning 1000kg when we refer to a ton, seeing the food and drink in shops measured in g and ml, and filling our cars up with litres of fuel (and on that note, whatever its flavour [note the correct spelling], its a LIQUID not a gas!!!) 😁
You can pay (often loads) for a "personal" number plate.
But they're never funny, and the sort of people who do it are often called Barry, and live with their mum.
In the Jeep thats not Namibia, its in Mongolia, Detox in the Desert, for me one of the top 3 of their Travels. Thx for watching them, im exited to see their new episode soon.
In the UK, licence plates are issued by a central government authority, the DVLA, and fit a predetermined pattern each year. You can tell the age of the car from the number plate pattern. Only licence numbers fitting the current pattern are issued, and the DVLA hold back ones they know will be in demand and charge extra for them. Older plates can be bought and sold, but the DVLA charge a fee for the transfer between cars. No car may be fitted with a number plate fitting a pattern for a year newer than the original year of construction of the car (to prevent people putting newer numbers on older cars and fooling potential buyers). All licence plates also have to conform to certain standard regarding size, lettering and spacing, and the backgrounds must be plain colouer - white for the front and yellow/amber for the rear. Some people deliberately try to change the letters to look like numbers but this is illegal. So you can have a personalised number plate but only within certain very tight constraints.
they also have gone through the list exhaustively to remove ANYTHING that could be deemed rude... there are hundreds of banned ones, worth a quick read 😅
Licence plates.... yeah in the UK we have to pay for a "private plate" but it stays with you for life
Hammond and May calling Clarkson dry is so hilarious. 😂
WHAT MANNER OF THING HAS HAPPENED?!?!??!?
“Do they ever do that in Europe” well it’s a continent so every country is different… obviously… but in the UK, yes
In the uk you can get personalised license plates
Yes we can have personalised number plates. The cost does vary. If you want one that has letters and numbers that are not the normal standard then it's very expensive.
I have a personalised number plate on my car. There wasn't the plate I wanted so they made it for me. My real name is Lee. My number plate I have is XT04 LEE. But with some strategic placement of screws it looks like it says XTC 4 LEE. I love taking E. lol.
That number plate cost me £750, about $1000. But it's mine for ever. Even if I sell my car it gets it's old plates put back on and I keep those plates to put on my new car. It costs about £30 $40 to sort out the paperwork...
It’s a shame it’s coming to an end, at least we will still have the hilarity of Clarkson’s Farm.
'which seat do they put in as standard?' ...i.e. do they only give you the passenger seat and you have to pay the extra $1 for the drivers seat!!
In the UK you can buy license plates with funny text but it is actually illegal 😃so it costs the ammount of the fine you get from that crime. 🤣🤣
11:05 on certainly East Asian Roads, whilst sporting German license plates that spell the F-word 😀
You want a ginger experience that will haunt you for the rest of your life? get a bottle of Ratzeputz!
7:35 Conor as a Brit I just say, that road looked fantastic, smooth and wide 😂 that is a top tier road compared to the UK, especially England haha. Don’t think you quite realise how bad our road systems are
That Kato they try to do things while being driven and he is also guivaniii
Yes we have personalised licence plates.
Yes it cost a bit but you can make the reg funny to a certain degree
That clip of them wrapped in duvets wasn’t Namibia it was Mongolia
I tend to think there are no accidents in this. I doubt Amazon would really let them smash thing up or knock someone over for real, they'd get sued.
7:58 I mean ffs what seat do you think would come as standard??
all thats been do to that pickup was it being raised
so sad to see bim and clarkson and hammond wont do more grand tour
Like practically everything in America, the units aren't American either 😉
That road with the Demon is in Detroit
I still watch top gear repeats
3 million pounds per episode was their budget
It wasnt Nambia, it was Mongolia.
It’s series not season
Either someone makes a compilation that can be understood by people who have never seen the show, or we need a reactor who has seen the show. This is terrible.
Bro you need to diet
