    Thank you for the video
    It inspired me to look into developing my color film. You made it look so easy. I will go and watch you other content

    If you get only 36 shots on a roll in the M6, I'd recommend changing your loading-process. Insert the film as shown on the dial, close the bottom plate, wind ONCE, checking if the rewind lever is rotating while you do and you are ready to shoot. (Dial should show -1 or -2) If you do that, you'll consistently get at least 38 shots out of a 36-exp-roll.

      ComGoBoo thank you for the advice! I have got a lot better at loading film, this was my first roll and it was more fiddly than I expected, but 38 is definitely possible :)

    Great overview, didn’t fully understand the different rangefinders! I do now! Cheers!

    Justifying a Leica purchase with "...the Rollei 35 is not really geared toward color" is pretty weak. You got it because it is a mechanical masterpiece and because you already had optics that would work. And because it's fun. I wonder if it'll last.
    Video idea: Street photos w/ M6 vs. Rollei 35. Choose the images blindly; can you say the Leica/Voigtlander photos are better than those from the humble little Tessar? Also, critique which one is more suited to street photography.

      It would be a good idea, but with a big enough image, it'll be pretty easy to tell which one's which. I have the Rollei 35 and a Nikon FM2n with some Nikkor D lenses and the Nikon images are significantly sharper and more contrasty than the Rollei. The Rollei produces nice pictures, but they have a more vintage look to them, if that makes sense.

      +1. The Rollei 35 with Sonnar lens was/is especially good with colour.

    quick note on the shutter speed dial direction, i believe that most old cameras (not just leicas) used that orientation as the classic. for me i prefer the classic because it's very intuitive to me which direction i need to turn without "following the arrow"

    Because you Leica rangefinders?

  • @yasha8951

    one set of lenses and having a body that feel so similar and of course the rangefinder which is mostly the same its the reason I won my Leicas

    Great vid! Love Colorplus, recently shot it at ISO 160, gave it a real nice punch in colours. Where did you purchase your Leica from? On the market for one and was wondering.

    • @Goughie
      @Goughie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Moghul Veyron i ended up buying from ebay! They bought and sold camera gear, so it was easy to ensure that it was authentic and as advertised

    You do realize that the M5 has a meter.

    • @SkylerKing
      @SkylerKing 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      pulikrule yeah, but if you buy an M5 then you can’t say you’ve got an M6. See, gotta think about these things 🙃

    • @Goughie
      @Goughie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point! I should have talked about the M5! A couple of things that did put me off though, no 28mm lines, and it’s quite a bit bigger than an M6, and most importantly I mentioned in a previous video that I buy and sell pre owned, an M5 would be far harder to move on come resell time

    • @pulikrule
      @pulikrule 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Goughie I believe the entire frame is equivalent to 28mm and as a glasses wearer it’s not too difficult to use.

    • @pulikrule
      @pulikrule 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Goughie oops, hit the wrong button.
      Your point about the size is well taken. It is noticeably bigger than the M3 and M8 that I have but it seems to fit nicely in my hands. The overhanging shutter speed dial is a big plus.
      But, each to their own.

    Robin Hoods Bay was considerably hotter today as I walked through there. Nice images, and well done doing your own processing - not sure I can convince the mrs to let me use the bath in that way. :)

      @@Goughie I am on Flickr - under my own name - so should be easy to find. None of the current batch will go on tonight as I am writing an article about coastal photograhpy, and I have some decent stuff for the article - so will be a few weeks time.
      My articles appear on Macfilos - a Leica dedicated website. I think i still have one about Teesdale on the home page somewhere.

    I loved the video but I think it makes more sense to not start shifting the whole focus to processing film and all that... we were interested in your camera review... I would've shared the photos and skipped talking about developing....you ask us to tell you whether we wanted to see it and you talked about it anyway....defeats the purpose if you're going to talk about it anyway...I just reccomend you stay focus on the title....I loved the video however and I will still subscribe. I hope you didnt feel I was too over critical bc I still enjoyed the content and will return.
    I'm just not interested in the development process.
    Peace,
    Sincerely Pat

      Are you in a hurry? It's all about the proces! You get really involved with the photo's when you do it the old school way. And working in the darkroom gets you into a flow. Totally different experience compared to that braindead digital bullshit. Same for music: real instruments and vinyl!!!!
      Good luck with your overpriced, and very soon outdated m10
