As a former long-haul truck driver, Husky has literally saved my life on several occasions. Going across northern Ontario in a blizzard, sometimes the only thing I could see was the huge Canadian Flag lit up in the night. Always open, good coffee, Husky is as Canadian as it gets.
@@KBDProductionsTV almost every full service truck stop in Canada and the US has facilities for drivers including showers, laundry, driver's lounge, etc. The showers are usually a basic toilet/sink/shower with towels provided by the truck stop. They are cleaned and sanitized after every use (thankfully). Most stops have loyalty card programs where drivers can earn points by fueling their trucks, and then use the points for free showers or other discounts. Drivers will compare which stops have the best water pressure or cleanest facilities, and which stops they avoid. Since big rigs have their own sleeping compartments, there aren't usually sleeping facilities, but plenty of truckstops have hotels nearby. If I was away from home and had to do a 36 hour reset (mandatory log book rest period), I would sometimes get a hotel for the night to get out of the truck, refresh, etc. Since you reviewed Husky, I'll mention that the truck stop location at 6625 Kennedy Rd in Mississauga has a hotel facility right on site. When I would do the "Golden Triangle" from Alberta to Texas to Toronto, I would usually need to do my reset in Missisauga, and having a clean hotel room every now and then was a nice break. Thanks for reviewing these places. Drivers spend the majority of their working lives away from home and eating out of restaurants and gas stations.
@@KBDProductionsTV I'll also say that a video comparing the top truck stop chains in the US would be interesting. TA-Petro are among the larger facilities, and some of them feel more like mini malls than fuel stops with theatres, shops, food courts, etc. Pilot/Flying J vary in their facilities from one location to the next, but are consistent and usually decent. In Canada, PetroPass, Husky and Flying J are the main options.
@@mike1975a Holy shot, you guys have it great there! Here in Europe it's hard to find a decent parking with showers and clean toilets. I seen a lot of public bathrooms that had poop on the freaking mirror...
Love finding unexpected gem eateries. Local store here in small town Indiana serves VERY decent hot food. Burgers are $0.89 & it's literally a 2 minute walk away.
There is a Husky House Restaurant just east of London on exit 195 from the 401 (3391 Westchester Bourne). I've always heard the truckers Buffet was amazing, but never been. Perhaps this could be added to your list?

I did laugh when you dropped your hamburger 😂. I’m sorry I couldn’t help it. Fresh, hand pattied ground beef would have made it more worth the price to me. Really enjoyed watching!! Always great work.
I like to see old-fashioned restaurants in truck stops. I used to drive here in the US and I loved being able to stop and have a real meal. Too many truck stops have been going the fast food route. Ones I fondly remember even though I may have only stopped at them once were Madras Truck Stop Cafe in Madras, Oregon and Joe's Griddle & Grill at the Harrisonburg Travel Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
A heads up there's a husky truck stop west of Winnipeg Manitoba. Also if your do come to Winnipeg you will have to try Salsibury House. As for independent places you've not seen big burgers until you've been to Blondie's on Main st. Home of the 12lb burger! In more manageable size try VJs drive-in at Broadway and Main. Something about these videos, idk what it is... but something about driving around and eating at these big empty truck stops on a workday just gives me this sense of loneliness, like I should be at work instead of sitting in a restaurant by myself at 12:00 on a Tuesday when everyone else is working. It’s weird feeling I can’t fully describe. But I feel it whenever I travel and eat out at places like this.

I just realized why this was recommended since I don’t watch food review videos. It’s because of the Piss Lord recent switch from the fitness industry to a revolting food reviewer. If you ever want to know the texture of Monster drinks Jason G aka the Piss Lord is the only one on TH-cam with this type of knowledge.
In the hell that is America huge amounts of poor elderly people live in poverty or at risk of poverty and cannot afford to retire and must continue working well past when they should be. The people in service jobs vastly prefer being actually paid a fair wage than saving a buck on a burger. The rest of the world manages to pay minimum wages and have a wide range of small businesses just fine.
@DAVE ADAM I agree, people shouldn't get paid enough to make a living. People should be forced to get two jobs and work on weekends because I don't want to pay more for my food!

FYI, Esso (Imperial) is in bed with Husky only for Locations attached to a Commercial Card lock. Esso retail locations are now owned by 7-11. Of course there are still the “mom and pop” dealer Esso locations which are supplied by Mcdougall. Esso sold all their retail assets a few years ago to focus mainly on exploration and refining.
$15 for THAT burger is a good price. Another 2 truck stops to check out. Johnstown at the bottom of the 416 off the 401. Really good food. Awesome Pakoras and Samosas. If you really want to go for a drive, head up the 417 westbound to the Antrim Truck Stop in Arnprior, ON. Really good food.
I'm a truck driver from the east coast I've stopped there a few times. I used to like the Flying J outside of Montreal good home cooking buffet or at least it was.
The husky restaurant used to be great used to be 5.75 for coffee and western sandwich now it’s almost 16.00 can’t afford to drive by let alone stop. I’m surprised they didn’t give you mortgage papers with your order to get a second on your house to afford there prices.
A good ole california bacon cheeseburger is one of my all time favorite comfort foods. That along with onion rings and a coke. Even when life is not going good, this meal always makes my day.
I live in east Tennessee here in the states but my wife and mother of my 3 kids is from Kingston, Ontario.. Just happened up on your videos recently and ive binged.. Lol. Great page and videos bud..
Samosa. I love the Kerala style meat or veggie samosas I get locally to the North Indian styled veggie ones, though those are good too. I'm just not a big fan of potato unless it's a French Fry or hash brown format.
I used to work beside a Husky Gas Station/Restaurant and ate there a lot. The breakfast club (the big picture in the breakfast menu) is the true king of the road! That was my go to every time. In Saskatchewan the burger was $17.99 so the clubhouse was a bigger bang for your buck
Should do one at northway truck stop on hwy 11 N and line 5 oro. Best truck stop poutine and also great fish n chips not to mention the banquet burger they have puts this one to shame. Giver a go! you won't regret it!
I went to a Huskys over 10 years ago now and I remember it being in the Brampton/Mississauga area. Not sure if that ones still around but damn they were good too.
Definitely a fair price for all that. Although, I would add mayonnaise or bbq sauce. Looks a little dry to me, honestly. I love to go to these local spots as well, there's definitely some gems.

If you are travelling west on the 401 there is a Husky in Dorchester Ontario (near London On) and Windsor Ontario
