The main reason I love the HST's is that it's about the only locomotive driven regular service train. I'm lucky enough to be on these going down to London and I always sit in the middle carriage in practical silence, especially when you choose a time where there's hardly anyone else on the train! Just me, some classical music through my ear buds, and the sound of the rails, can't beat it!
i dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@Ashton Alfonso i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I'm just curious about something. The XPT (the Australian version of the HST) has the same engine. But it doesn't do the turbo scream at full power. Instead it's more of a growl. Anyway you have any ideas as to why that is?
I don't think the Australian trains are as powerful as the UK trains, due to the hot weather. They where worried of the engines over heating. So may be they did not make the turbo as big, on Australian trains, which would reduce power output.
Are you confusing VP185 with Valenta? I don't hear VP185 having much turbo scream. XPTs were fitted with VP185s around 2000 and the engines sound better in the XPT installation imo, often having a throaty exhaust note. Search TH-cam for `XPT leaves Penrith for Dubbo' to hear what I mean when the rear power car goes by.
Thanks for the reply. It's good to know that in an age where everything has to be fenced off and made safe, trains can still do this past an open platform.
East Midlands trains should replace class 222s with new Class 802 x30 10 9 car and x20 5 car. class 222s should goto Cross Country trains to give them more trains
Those VP185 engines are amazing

Thank you so much you saved my ass!
@Aryan Terrance you are welcome xD
At full chat they do a good impression of a Valenta!
I love the sound of the VP185 engines. Best engine for the class 43 units ☺
Adam Johnson what about the valenta
Yes Adam the vp185 is the best
@@SuperOpticJ No. I didn't really like the original valanta engines in the class 43s. There beyond noisy. Ear bleeders...
@@Adam-jf6gs noisier the better lad
A wonderful compilation for the best sounding HST'S. Extremely well put together to hear that roar and scream. Great work, I tip my hat off to you!
Love these trains a lot!!
Good old class 43's in East midlands trains livery, filmed before the name change "East Midland Railway's"
East Midlands Trains are awesome
Still the best trains from Leicester to London St Pancras!
Love seeing those EMT HSTs
EMT no HST yes

Gavin Davies thanks for info
Gavin the 12vp185 has six turbochargers.

Lots of class 43 HST's retired from E.M.M.L etc, replaced with new Voyager class 222's etc
Are they quieter than the Deltic?
very nice
why is his door open
Yet again a nice vid is there any chance you know if the HST EMTS are getting refurbished at any time
Nice video
VPs rule. Closet we got to valenta.
Why are some coaches in Virgin Trains livery? Do Virgin and East Midlands (and maybe other) HST coaches have the same interior?
No. Virgin hired out a HST from East Midlands Trains for their East Coast services but have swapped the coaches and power cars with another unit.
Achmad Faiz Ramadhan the
name of the station at 3:55 ?
That's Bedford I think.
Bedford on the up
Another great video. Do you know if they have to slow down at all for stations, or can they go through at 125mph?
They don't have to slow down below what the linespeed is to go through stations. So if the speed limit is 125, they can do 125 through the station.

Indeed Northallerton is a good place to see this.
That red LNER HST was probably another version of the flying banana 🍌
I wonder whats next?
East Midlands Railway in purple livery. I used to be a train manager/guard on MML. Married to my husband who was also my driver too💋
Make the most of this as soon there will be no HSTs left period.
This train is for windsor & eton on riverside
The livery on these trains are peng
And the sound
