- When the Congress manifesto, or the “Nyay Patra”, was released days ahead of the first phase of polling of the 2024 Lok Sabha election, it received limited traction, mostly in the form of social media reactions and routine coverage in the mainstream media. But it became a full-fledged election issue only when Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the manifesto, alleging that it had a “Maoist mindset” and the “Muslim League” imprint on it.
Since then, the Congress has been going all out to promote its “Nyay Patra” and its five main guarantees. Other Opposition parties also seem to have taken a cue from the Congress and begun attacking the BJP on local issues, which is not exactly the pitch that the BJP’s Modi-centric election campaign is geared to. This has resulted in something not witnessed in almost a decade: for once, the Opposition is dictating the narrative of this election, pushing PM Modi and the BJP onto the back foot.
Will this have any impact on the election results come June 4? R.K. Radhakrishnan, Senior Associate Editor at Frontline, talks about the Opposition INDIA bloc's attempt to put up a coordinated fight, the future of the Opposition in the ongoing Lok Sabha election and beyond, among other things.

We must credit the Opposition for its spirited fight in spite of the odds against them by the ruling party.

Modi never highlighted his manifesto in campaign, instead started the 2nd phase saying it resembles the Muslim league. PM has brought down the stature of the post he is holding. Disgrace to the entire nation globally. We have never seen such a PM who have spoken such hate speeches..we have seen sheer desperateness in modi's speech which was not the case in the last 10 years..
Modi is not a disgrace. People like you are. Modiji said the opposition was trying to bring religion based reservation under OBC quota. Doesn't the Kolkata HC decision prove he was speaking truth?? Everytime the PM raises a pertinent point, he is shouted down as doing communal politics. It won't work anymore.
It's the job of the opposition to highlight deficiencies in the BJP manifesto. He has raised his plans for the next 125 days in his speeches, which is what is in the BJP manifesto

That’s right, states like TN and KL manifestos are big talking point in elections. No wonder, those states are top of social and economic development.
Correct observation..present scenario is explained well without any bias.Election manifestos are thoroughly analysed and discussed in Kerala ...Would such a kind of exercises be done by the electorate in north Indian states? If so,a change can be expected this time.Again there is a problem ..ie the way our EC function. Can we expect EC instill confidence and trust among the electorate in the coming days?

Electoral Bonds are not transparent at all. In fact the shareholders of a company contributing by way of Electoral Bonds was kept in the dark. The transparency has been introduced by the Supreme Court. Recall SBI first sought time till June 8th and then almost overnight provided details. Hence the PM talking of transparency in electoral bonds is another aspect which is removed from the truth
