What do you do and how do you prioritize your schedule for your time to sew? Do you put it off? Do you use a calendar and schedule it out? Do you hope a sewing challenge is happening to participate? What do you do to get sewing done without putting it off?

I have Nancy's book it's useful, just yesterday I did Saturday's work on Friday so I can sew today Saturday instead. Drastic measures bc I did put it off last week. Keep sewing everyone ❤.

See what I mean, in the little bit of time you have you can move things around to get sewing done, but not neglect the other things that need to get done also.

Nancy Zieman had a book 15, 20, 30 minutes to sew. My mom worked outside the home. After dinner, we cleaned the dining room table ,took out the portable machine and basically she’d sew 30 -60 minutes then we had to clean/ pack up every night.
The blocking out of time calendar/ phone reminder is genius.

I have that same book in my sewing room on my bookshelf. It is a game changer! I block out time on my calendar, because now days who does not put reminders on their phone or calendar? My life is literally a walking calendar.

Great tips. I had to learn to be kind to myself.

It's an important step. We are our biggest critics. Just note that always be kind to yourself.

Dynamic advice because I can’t sew all day long. I sew in 2 to 3 hour snatches and not every day. I break my sewing down in steps. One day I will cut pattern which might take 30 minutes. Another day I trace and my pattern and make adjustments. I wash fabric as soon as it comes home so the fabric is ready to go when I decide on project and pattern pairing. I also batch cut. Sewing is more than being at the machine. The actual sewing time is small. Sewing prep is where most of the time goes. I also sew simple and I only sew what I wear. I love sewing shift dresses and culottes because that is what I wear. Even though I have time to sew, I have other interests like writing and I don’t want to burn out on sewing. I also enjoy small quilting projects. When I take breaks, I return to sewing with joy and energy.

Now this right here Kimberly is a word!!!! I agree with you. I don't have 2-3 hours every day to sew. I schedule several days a week to sew. Most of the time an hour or 2 (2-3 times a week).

I imagine because your sewing 🪡 time is so limited, you probably value it and look forward to it more.😊

@@kimberlywiley7727 My sewing time is so limited so I have to literally schedule it to be able to accomplish getting things done. I am doing a lot better with sewing instead of just filming content constantly. You all will see that going into 2025.

Thank you! You are so right about scheduling time to sew. Too often we put our sewing (or any other activity that is just for ourselves) last, instead of making it a priority worthy of making an appointment for it. It’s the same concept as saving money - we need to pay ourselves first, because if you save the money that’s “left over” after paying everyone else, well there’s never any money “left over!” I’m going to schedule my sewing time. I’m also going to use that timer thing. Time limits are serious motivators. 😁🩷💙
