as a composer myself, i wonder how Mahler had it in him to still want to write more music after expressing the exalted heights of divine love in this final movement
In 2004 I was listening to this work perhaps one too many times, especially the finale--the Adagio. This time it spoke to me, as clearly as if there were someone else in the room. It said, "Oh Remember Who You Are..." My conscious awareness was washed by a deeply flowing river of images and feelings, carrying me to a different world. It resulted in my composing a poem, entitled, "Oh Remember." This is one of the most transforming moments in my life, a true synchronistic event. Thank You, Gustav Mahler, simply Thank You.
Very nicely done. They could easily do a documentary on every Mahler symphony. Actually, you could do a documentary on any single movement of a Mahler symphony.
Tremendous, superlative. It's made me realise that even after something like 20 years I'm only just beginning to understand this symphony. Just one criticism though. Did they absolutely HAVE to talk over the climax of the final movement?
Anyone noted at 6th movement "opening theme quotes from the slow movement of Beethoven's last string quartet (Op. 135) - the resemblance is too great to be accidental. The continuation, however, is more in the spirit of Bruckner - one of the few times that Bruckner's and Mahler's styles are really close." Cited from Peter Laki: Mahler Symphony No.3 at Symphony Salon website.
l'intera sinfonia diviene una splendida manifestazione di coscienza manifestazione a sua volta dell'universo ed ognuno dei suoi membri assume la funzione di strumento atto ad esprimere la magnificenza del mondo stesso
It's too bad Mahler was a full time conductor. Perhaps if he had devoted his life to composition he could have given us beautiful string quartets and piano sonatas too. As it is, he only composed during his summer holidays.
I wish they could do a documentary like this for every Mahler symphony. Please!
I started thinking Mahler's music was profound, after this documentary my appreciation has doubled, if possible, for both Mahler and life
This movement has often brought me to tears.
What can there be after this?....I am elevated with wonder and humbled by the emotion this music brings. I am grateful to be able to experience this.
Yet another brilliant artist who achieved most of the recognition for it after his death.....Just goes to show how far ahead of his time he was :)

Beutiful. My introduction to Mahlers 3 The documentary helps convey the music; not overshadow it. Many thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing!! You have no idea the joy it brought to my heart! Thank you!

Wonderful on my favorite list. Mahler lives!
A glimpse of the sublime as only Mahler could envision it.
Thank You for sharing this Beautiful piece of work.
Bless You,
KJ
Great documentary, there should be one for every Mahler symphony. The only annoying thing is the comments of that patronizing theologian.

William Perry No - Mahler needed the orchestra.
Mahler viewed chamber music as being a relic of an immature period in the history of music.
Sinistro, cabeção...
The spiritual secret is simply the love of God.
Yes that theologian is very annoying!
The spiritual secret Mahler's 3rd symphony tells us is beyond any religion.
How true as this climax brings this atheist to tears every time
