- A look at my Matamp GT1 amplifier. Demo'd using a Gibson Les Paul, Fender Player Series Strat and an Ibanez QX527PB. Pedals used include an Ibanez TS9, a JHS Notaklon and an Earthquaker Devices Hizumitas. Amp went into a 2x12 Avatar cab loaded with Vintage 30 speakers, mic'd with a Sennheiser e609 and a Sterling Audio ribbon mic going into a Scarlett Focusrite. Playing is various levels of noodling around. I do take a look inside the amp and try various settings.

Always nice to see another Clutch fan!
I am saving for a GT1 right now, thank you this was very informative
For a decade or so I hunted down one of those “Green Amp” clones from Seattle you were talking about. Mines not green, I’ve uploaded a clip I think but your story is decently accurate. Sad story too
Basically things went sour between the two companies, and the Seattle guy, “Electric,” Got a fantastic amp tech named McNeece to build these high quality, point-to-point wired beasts. Eventually things also went sour between them and now to my knowledge, that’s it! Shame too, I’d spend a fortune at that shop if things were fully operational.
I think I’ll end up with a GT1 one day too, thanks for the video !
Yeah, I had started my Matamp quest about 20 years ago, so getting the GT1 was definitely a high point for me. I had tried working with the guy in Seattle a bit when he was still importing, and then when he started building, but communications always seemed spotty.
Anyway, glad you got your Electric - it is cool to have a back story on your amp. Also cool that you managed to get a matching cab. I'm not sure how many were made in purple.
@@TheMiddleAgedMusician-mc6xo haha thank you! I estimate maybe 5 or less in purple… which was my dream amp so I had to get this combo ASAP when I saw it. I also have the “Purple AMP” faceplate I’ll swap one day
I see a Dwarvenaut! I love my 2 Dwarvenaut 20s; wet/dry stereo, crushes!
I mean 2 Matamps would be even crushier!
But the Dwarvenauts, even at 20 watts bring the noise police to the door.
Yeah, great little amp. It really is its own thing.
Corr!
The guy that imported matamps and modded them and all's company is Electric Amps (also called Green Amps, White Amps, Purple Amps, and a few others as names), but he's caught a bad rep due to bad communication tactics and failure to deliver products.
I have heard this in the past. I honestly didn't know if he was still even doing business, especially once Matamp started shipping to the US.
