    Maaate! I just started a photography project ten minutes before I saw this video! Awesome!
    Congrats on your involvement with `iphotography.'
    Down here in Melbourne we are in our 4th. snap lockdown but hopefully not a long one this time. So in the spirit of Sean Tucker's latest video I have determined to `do this patch well,' as Sean said at one stage, talking about the times in our lives when things seem to go badly. So I thought of the goodness I have in my life and goodness is always personal and in this case the person is my wife. So I'm spending the day photographing the goodness of my wife. We've been through so much thick and thin and here we are still. The accidents of this life come and go but love is steadfast. Awesome. My glum mood has changed to one of creativity and thanksgiving. This thanksgiving becomes all encompassing, for all things in my life and all things not in my life and all things that happen in my life. This feeling never lasts, of course, but occasionally you get a little glimpse beyond the veil. How good this creative process can be for the human psyche.

    Doing a 'project' (of any kind really) is such a boost to creativity and sense of accomplishment. Good reminder. It has saved me from boredom a few times during this past difficult year! I also have learned to not feel guilty if I don't decide not to finish one. Less precious time wasted!

      I think you have hit the nail right on the head there Don. Projects give your photography some purpose. Hopefully the end result will encourage more people to visit this area, rather than bombing past on the M6 on the way to one of the most popular spots in the Lake District.

    Hi Chris: This was a very enjoyable video to watch. The mix of locations was really well designed. I am noticing a very subtle yet recognizable positive change in your video productions techniques and capabilities. Your selection of back-ground music is very professional and simply adds to the viewing enjoyment. The images you captured are outstanding. I really liked the lime-stone ridge and the waterfall images. During the segment at the waterfall (16:41), your video included a segment shooting back to your location where you were standing, and I saw a very interesting composition of the stream leading to what appears to be a fence and tree in the background. I wonder if this is a potential image to explore as part of this overall location. All-in-all, a very enjoyable video full of wonderful images. Cheers, Keith

    Love that horse shot.
    I started a similar project for West Lothian back in 2018. But it grew arms and legs and wound up as a walking guide to the area. I've done a couple more guides for other areas since then, but the photography has suffered due to doing the routes during the day rather than early or late.

    • @ChrisSalePhoto
      @ChrisSalePhoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Dougie, the idea for the project was actually born back when I was living in Livi. I was going to produce a series of photos to showcase the Pentlands. But because I didn't have as strong a connection to the area it never really got off of the ground. Photograph what you love, that is what I have always said.

    • @dougiemilnephotography756
      @dougiemilnephotography756 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisSalePhoto the problem with the Pentlands (and I had the same problem in the Ochils and the Campsies) is that they are not actually all that photogenic. Big, round, relatively featureless green lumps. Leading lines don't lead anywhere, rocks and crags for foreground interest are few and far between, and the backgrounds (certainly to the north and east) are flat and too far away. Don't get me wrong, they aren't without their moments, but you have to work harder to find them than in other locations.

      "In my mind a project will have a goal. When you take on a project you are trying to achieve something. As far as 12in12 is concerned my aim is to produce 12 photos that showcase the natural beauty of the area immediately surrounding the village where I live, and to show how that landscape changes with the seasons. I want to attract more photographers to this area, to explore an area overlooked by the vast majority of people that visit the Lakes. How? I'll worry about that once I have the images."

    After 30+ years of working evenings at the lab I rarely see a sunrise and my projects tend to be along the lines of mechanical hacks but I agree there's nothing like a good project to motivate image production and even get an old codger like me out of bed before the sun. My most recent hack was to build solar filters from film glued into 105 to 95mm & 95 to 77mm filter adapter rings then hike up Mt. Tom in NW Connecticut at 4AM to capture the annular eclipse.

    Nice video Chris. Regarding polariser I am not sure the reason they are used in landscapes unless it is to take glare off water features or things like wet leaves. I think everything else can be done post-production. Anyway, I quite like the thought of a project so will put my thinking-cap on and get some ideas jotted down.

    • @ChrisSalePhoto
      @ChrisSalePhoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because they cut out the glare they really help with colour saturation. Try if for yourself. Take a shot with the polariser on and one without. Then see if you can recreate the same effect in post. I'll bet you can't. I have quite a few examples in my next webinar.
