  • Ride to #driverless future: launch of a full size, #autonomous electric bus by #NTUsg and Volvo Buses. The 12-metre, 36-seater electric bus is equipped with numerous sensors and navigation controls managed by a comprehensive #AI navigation system that helps it move through dense traffic and under all tropical weather conditions. It has undergone many rounds of rigorous testing at the #autonomousvehicle test centre at NTU. Next, it will ply the roads of the #NTUsgSmartCampus in a trial.

      @@saltymonke3682 belligerent opining ain't cool- state your case with metrics. IF using electricity stainless steel backed cells are excellent weather barrier for ceiling and the sun contains a watt for every 💑grams of such pv even if it takes 1.2 decagrams (dozengrams) of area given current efficiences.
      Depending on climate the weight and cost depreciation etc. exceed or far exceed the imputed joules ADDITIONAL one must carry and haul during daylight versus SUCH roofing.
      Ebusses have been engineered in brutalisty spirit with tons of absurdly costly STORAGE in fundamentalistically terroristiically erroneous 🔥 weather climates INSTEAD of cold air boiled like steam with additional air as found free providing HEAT to drive turbines beyond surplus heat FROM Windows and digestion in customers.
      The 🚘 workers are needed to build these turbines AND transmissions to QUICKLY switch from burning fuel to boiling Air exclusively. The spark plug not just diesel are NOT right way of producing expansion in a moving mass. Extract heat from AIR, TANK it, then let it back to release energy to whatever horse CAPACITY is optimal. No shortage of heat anywhereon 🌎 to do so.
      Electrification is Opec. LIQUID air as fuel is END of using OLD plants to release carbon FOR heat.
      The metrics are decisive. You want to wonk- do the dilligence and YOU shall.

      Germany still need to import Natural Gas as a power generator fuel because their wind and solar aren't reliable enough.

    At the end of the day, it got scrapped, and with NTU's own security chasing those bus enthusiasts who barely had a chance to document this project at all from start to finish.
    Sad and embarassing. This is not a history that I can be proud of to share to anyone in the future.

      I'm a NYC MTA bus operator. Personally I'm excited. Don't you understand what could happen if automation and autonomous technology can replace human labor? We could do something never possible before in human history. Remove the need for monetary exchange and start the transition process into creating a post scarcity society.
