I would guess he uses a "pedal" (or software in a Modeling Amp) that simulates an E-Bow effect. I can see no e-bow on his guitar, but this may be the sound you are looking for
I'm looking at making a guitar specifically for bowing and wandered if you have any suggestions. It looks like most of Jones's stuff is just on the low E? Are you only using the bridge pickup or do you mix that up? Do you let some of the other strings vibrate in sympathy or are you muting them all? I'm thinking a 4 string baritone with a huge cutaway to access all strings and a giant cello like curve on the bridge to let each string be played independently - but if you're often doing chords then I may make it flatter.
