New Zealand - North Island, November (part II)

  • I'm so glad I took a detour on my way down to the South Island in November to get to know the Northern East Coast. Such an authentic place, full of blossomed pohutukawa, marae and, of course, birds.
    There I got to see the sunrise from the most eastern place of the country (and almost of the world), hiked to the bottom of the sacred Hikurangi mountain and tried surfing for the first time. I also saw my first stingray and walked faster than the high tide to visit one of the three mainland gannet colonies of the country.
    However, for those who already know me, you'd know that my favourite part of this country will always be the clouds. I still haven't chosen between sunrise or sunset, though.
