New Church Historian and Recorder Begins Service

- “It’s difficult, if not impossible, to remember who you are, until you know who you are,” said Elder Kyle S. McKay, who has begun his service as the 16th Church Historian and Recorder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, effective August 1, 2022.
Elder McKay, a former attorney, has been serving as the assistant managing director of the Church History Department for the past three years.

It's important to have accurate information so that when we remember we can gain the lessons necessary to not repeat the past.
The new church historian will see and witness the events which have been anticipated for soo long. Amazing.
We are living in a glorious day, when so much historical information has been collected, published, and made available to the Saints and other interested people. I'm grateful to the employees and volunteers at the Church History Department who are making this possible!

“The real historians are the people I work with.” What a humble man. “Church history has the capacity to strengthen faith and should be used for that purpose. If you study error, you will come to know only error. Our purpose in or out of the church is to seek out truth.” What a gift to have the Joseph Papers and men like Elder McKay helping us in our journey.
Study truths, because if you study error, you will only know error.
I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints is true, and that following these beautiful teachings of Christ can transform the very nature of humankind to eventually become devine.

In the year and a quarter between my baptism and going on my mission in 1975 I took every Institute of Religion class I could. One thing the teacher said was that if there's a dispute as to who will lead the Church, listen to the Church Historian.

First comment from me.....I testify with all my heart, soul, mind and body...with all my essence that this church is a true agency of Good and Good is God. The works and fruits of my peoples man!!! So happy to be apart of something so Grand. My Life was saved as a result of this gospel. 🙌 I breath now because of the Love I receive and received...I owe MY LIFE to the gospel and to do good all the days of my life.

Remember Saints, that our faith is in Jesus Christ, not in men. So when we hear or discover that men and women in Church history have erred or made mistakes, it should make no difference to our Faith in Jesus Christ. We worship a perfect God, we don’t worship imperfect men.

I love what Elder McKay says about seeking truth, and to immerse ourselves in truth.
We desperately need the truths of the history of our church clarified, so that these false traditions that are causing so much turmoil can be done away.
If people here the truth it should not come with a question mark attached to it.
And any aspect of our history that is not true needs to be absolutely removed from our physical, and digital libraries.
I wonder if he had read Greg Prince's biography of Dr Arrington. My first encounter with real LDS history was Arrington's Great Basin Kingdom
It's impossible to communicate church history as it truly happened if your worldview has a stake in the outcome.

This new "transparency" comes with many asterisks and strained explanations.
History is a door , that , opens up to the ones lived to opportunities and blessings following President Nelson power of spiritual momentum is by rotation to gift the holy Ghost to a constant companion to now if we desire the need to know the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints History is by the first and last that builds , the most the fastest by Glory to teach to Councel and it is as important as the history that is made today to how important all be to the One that is as important to Jesus Christ history the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints.
I can remember when they was no Chappell in my town I grew up in , and then the members built one and we moved to another community that had no Chappell in its community and the members built one as history is important to a community that is by the general to see the local information that builds the general authority to history the simple teaching by faith that has moved to knowledge the pioneers that made holy places to stand in by another testament of Jesus Christ.
