Brother stick to the teachings of strictly the quran, sunnah and strongest hadiths. Make dua to Allah to keep you upon the right and straight path. I am a revert also and it is hard but look for tawheed, tafsir classes at your masjids.
I like the recitation,i cant understand much of it, yet it feels somehow familiar..This upload has me thinking, as a new Muslim, which of these so-called 'scholars', I should be learning about my deen from? I recognize 3 of them in the picture. Take Anjem Choudary for instance, I don't like his heartless attitude and they way he slyly condones terrorism. Yet he did a good lecture(or so I thought) on jinn and the world of the unseen. I believe another was called '25 minor signs of the day of Judgement'. Yet he loses credibility when he calls the 9/11 hijackers 'magnificent'..Please could someone tell me if the following are OK to learn off? : Abdur-Raheem Green, Abu Mussab Wajdi Akkari, Anwar al-Awlaki, Abu Taubah, Abu Husnayn..It can all be confusing for a new Muslim who relies on the internet for knowledge of Islam.
I have decided to put translations on all the recitations from now on. I made this video about a month ago and didn't get around to uploading it so had to leave it without the subtitles. Its good to see that you are trying to be more careful about who you take your Deen from. In regards to the aforementioned individuals then they all have problems in relation to their methodology. I would advise you to listen to the lecture "The Ideological Attack on Salafiyyah in Our Times by Abu Iyyad and read the series on the Spubs website titled the "The Crime of Tamyee"
This will inshaaAllah help you to understand why the Salafis criticize these individuals. Now as for those who are reliable then there are many alhamdullilah. I will list some here. Abu Hakeem Bilal Davis, Abu Khadeejah, Abu Uwais, Abul Hasan Malik, Hasan as-Somali, Abu Idrees Muhammad, Dawud Adeeb, Umar Quinn, Abu Yusuf Khaleefah, Abu Anisa Abdul Hakeem, Musa Richardson, Abdulilah Lahmaami, Abu Muhammad al-Maghribee, Sheikh Saleh as-Saleh, Dawud Burbank and there are others. Plenty of the lectures of these speakers are available and free to download so inshaaAllah check them out and you will see that they are only calling to Qur'aan and Sunnah and not speaking from themselves.
