@Tyler Zain i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I also have a Yashica. Its a Yashica Electro 35 GX. Its my father's old camera, found it collecting dust in his cabinet. Immediately asked his permission to use it, since its just at his cabinet not being used. I quickly searched the PDF copy of its manual, and how to replace the light seal, and how to find a similar battery to the discontinued Mercury battery. Now it works. I love it!
Great!!! I think it is really meaningful to use camera handed down from parent! Have a great time with it! I’m also thinking to give it to kids if I get one later on in future! :)
Thank you for making this video. My grandfather recently passed away suddenly and I found this camera whilst sorting his belongings. Its in almost mint condition and I dont think he really used this camera many times at all. I had never heard of it before but I really love the feel and look of it.
Thank you for watching my video. Sorry to hear that... I started taking picture with film with similar experience. I also started with this camera too. I hope you have a great time with your camera! Hope you have a special experience! Thank you for sharing.

Found my grandfather's Electro 35 GTN a year ago and your video made me take it out of the closet. Sadly the film rewind lever is stuck and there's mold everywhere. found a gentleman who said he could get it to work so fingers crossed. And i just loved this video. Beautiful aesthetic and amazing music.pleease keep making these videos!!!

Just recently got my hands on one straight from Japan in extremely well kept condition, I absolutely love this thing. It's a piece of art in every sense of the word, and it also works amazingly well.
@@superwolf125N Japanese eBay is your best and honestly if you find the right sellers best bet. You pay a slight premium but you’re guaranteed an ok if not outright great product.
That was my first 35 mm camera I got back in 1977. It took very sharp pictures and colors were amazing using Fugi Color film stock. Two years later I bought the Canon A1. Today I have the Canon 5D Mk IV with Canon 24-70mm F2.8, 70-200 mm F2.8, Sigma 50 mm Art Lens & Samyang 14 mm.
Thanks so much for this video! I've been using a point-and-shoot film camera for years but my dad found this camera in a box (used to be my grandad's too!) and handed it down to me. Wasn't sure how to use it so this video is perfect, exactly what I needed!

Glad that you’ve enjoyed my video! I got interested in a photography just like you. Old photos have their own mood and feelings, that keep people using those. I hope you have a great time with the film camera. If you have further question, please let me know! Thank you!
Plus Alpha, thanks for sharing this great video with content on the Yashica Electro 35. I was considering the purchase of one, but had no experience with the thing. it looks like a very nice, compact and capable 135mm Camera. Great job on the video, and presentation of the Yashica. Keep up the video work.
Just saw this video, well done! I'm looking forward to getting my Electro 35 out to shoot after getting it back today from overhaul. I was told by my service agent to make sure the circuit is adjusted to deal with the 4LR44 battery + adapter setup for accurate metering. Well done again 👏👏👏
Yes! Enjoyed it. Keep them coming. I have 2 Yashica Electro's and I'm thinking about getting a local battery store to build (shrink tube) the required batteries together.

Really nice ! Bought one because of you , really inspiring.... one year later only did only film sadly ... really hard to work with and be so limited... really prefer my canon a1... but still something magic on it...
Thank you for enjoying my video! Glad that my video inspired you! all the camera has pro and cons... I think I tried like more than 20 cameras to find the camera that suit me the best haha... :) cheers!
For anyone interested in buying an Electro 35: There were about 10 versions of this camera but the GX and GL versions are the only ones with a Silicon Photodiode light meter. This is a significant point. The rest of them have the Cadmium Sulfide (CdS) meter which is less accurate, less reliable, and less sensitive than the far superior Silicon meter. Many of the Yashica models with the CdS meter available for sale on eBay will mostly have either an inoperable meter or it will have degraded in accuracy to be 1-2 stops off. A GX a or GL model has a much better chance of having a fully functional light meter. Also, the GX and GL versions have a 40mm 1.7 instead of the 45mm that is on the other models. I prefer the GL which increased the ASA to 1600. The GX only goes to 800…otherwise those two models are the same. Both have the light meter attached inside the filter ring of the lens allowing the meter to automatically compensate for any filters used. Just a word to the wise.
I have a problem with mine, it's also a Yashica Electro 35 but not a GSN (I think it was the very first model of about 1966). The thing is that the shutter curtain only closes once I lift my finger off the shoot button. It's like I litteraly control the shutter speed with my bare hands. Is it something in the mecanism or is it simply that I must control manually every time the shutter speed?
I think you are using bulb mode. Not sure what model you are using, but check on the front of the lens. There are B / auto / flash. If you put it on B, the camera works as yours!
Must be some issue with the focus ring. Since this camera has some age, some copy of camera needs repairing. If the focus ring does not rotate than it must be some resin get stuck or got harden. My advice is for that is sending it to repair shop. You can also repair it by yourself by disassembling the lens, but it is not recommended since it has high risk of scratching the lens coating, which you cannot fix, unless changing to another lens. Try to warm the lens part by plastic bag of hot water (DO NOT POUR the water directly toward the lens. Moisture cause mold to grow inside of the lens. DO NOT POUR WATER!). and still not works, then I highly recommend to send the camera to repairing shop. Repairing cost will be differ from the shop you use, and the condition of the camera. but normally where I live, fixing a lens costed me about $30. I hope you fix your camera well, and please let me know!! Thank you.
You can get from ebay!! Or check it from your local camera shop. Recently my friend pick it up from online market (like ebay) with repaired one, and it works perfectly! But when you buy from ebay, you must check its condition, since this camera is really old...
Lovely presentation of a wonderful camera. Does anybody have any advice as to which I should get between Yashica Electro 35 GS (not GSN) and a Minolta Hi-Matic 7S ? Many thanks in advance
Thank you for enjoying my video! I don't have Minola Hi-matic 7s but I did some search about it. The basic information is as follow; Yashica Electro 35 GS (same as GSN but only without PC socket on hot shoe) Dates: 1973~1977 ASA(ISO): 25~1,000 Focal Length: 45mm Close Focus: 0.8m Aperture: f1.7~f16 Shutter Speed: 1/500~30 seconds Weight: 728.4g Minolta Hi-matic 7s Dates: 1966 ASA(ISO): 25~800 Focal Length: 45mm Close Focus: 0.9m Aperture: f1.8~f16 Shutter Speed: 1/500~B Weight: 725.8g Both camera are very similar camera in function and size. Except the difference between the lens coating (since they are different brand), the major difference is rather the camera can shoot in all manual, and automatic mode or not. Yashica Electro 35 GS works fully in aperture priority mode, which is you change the aperture and the camera decide the shutter speed for you. However, you can take aperture, shutter speed, and fully automatic mode on Minolta Hi-matic 7s. Both are really great camera and you have to look for rather the light meter works. I tried minolata lens before, but it was not my taste (although it is really great lens). If you are ok with not shooting manual mode, yashica electro 35 gs is fine. but if you want to shot manual and auto, minolta Hi-matic 7s is the one for you. have a look at the photos took by both camera. I hope this information is helpful to you!! Thanks!
@@plusalphastudio Wow, thank you so much for this detailed reply! I actually made up my mind to go for the Yashica since the Electro 35 is such a legendary model, I feel like one copy belongs in my modest collection ;). I indeed don't really mind about having no manual mode since I plan to use my Canon A-1 whenever I really want to have full control over my settings, and go with the Yashica when I prefer to keep things a little simpler; set the aperture, focus and boom. I think the Yashica Electro 35 GS will be a great first step into the rangefinder world for me! Thanks for your advice!
Great! It is great camera indeed! The canon a-1is also great camera! I might make a video about my camera collection. :) I hope you have a great experience with film camera!
Thank you! I try to take video and picture around interesting places in Seoul! I haven't been Foto Maru, but the place I go to process film in Seoul is ShinShin Color (Apgujung-dong) or Skopi (Hongae). Both are really great places!
Oh really? Great! I believe you can send the film to some of these place to get it developed. Or have a look around Ulsan. (I had a look very short time, and internet says there is one in Samsan-dong) They must have one I think. Which Yashica do you own??
Love the video!!! I just developed my first roll of film using this camera but all my photos have a greenish tint.. do you have any advice for me? I love the way your pictures turned out
Thank you for enjoying my video!! Where are the greenish tint is located? Is it show on the same spot of every photo? If so, I recommend to check the sponge on the back where you put the film. If the sponge is old, you can get a light light leak, which makes a marks (like yellow, green, or white spot or lines). Check the sponge, and check the lens! If it is a sponge problem, it is an easy fix! Please let me know how it goes!
Great video thanks a lot! I just found and bought one a couple of days ago and It’s fully functional and everything, I just have one question about that little nod on the lense at the end of the video. What’s its función exactly?
Hmm I believe you can use it but the shutter speed is locked at default. So the photo will come out dark or too bright depend on the lighting situation! Sorry for late response.
Maybe this is a stupid question but if u don’t wind it after taking the photo can u get a double exposure photo? or will it just not let you take a photo
Thank you for asking! On this camera, you cannot take double exposure... Unfortunately, if you don’t wind it, it does not let you take photo. Sorry for late response.
The focusing is quiet easy to do. You just match 2 image that you see from the viewfinder. Hmm about the eyesight, I’m not sure how hard it gonna be... Some cameras has diopter accessary that adjust to the eye sight, but not sure this model has it. You can perhaps try to attach other brand’s diopter or use a contact lens. I know how uncomfortable that is because one of my eye has really bad eye sight... Hope you find a way to use this camera!
Love this video man! Question: I read recently that a PX28L 6V battery will work just fine with this camera. What is your opinion on that? I just bought the camera and want to start shooting soon!
Hello! Thank you for enjoying my video! I have’t tried px28l, but what I have read, it will work fine! However, you need to modify the battery.. I suggest getting a adapter from ebay that make you to use 4 LR44 battery! Hope you have a great time with your camera!
Hi! I'm currently using 4 LR44(1.5v each) with adapter to make it 6v. you can get an adapter from ebay around $5~6. Here are some links: www.ebay.com/itm/ADAPTER-ONE-BATTERY-for-YASHICA-ELECTRO-35-GL-GSN-GTN-GT-AX-SLR-y-MG-1/153099633358?hash=item23a57302ce:g:LDkAAOSwYlRZHeiz:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true www.ebay.com/itm/BATTERY-ADAPTER-for-YASHICA-ELECTRO-35-G-GS-GT-GSN-GTN-MG-1/232966097406?hash=item363ddc89fe:g:rewAAOxycmBS9pir:rk:22:pf:0 However, there are some other ways to run this camera. The camera was designed to run by 5.6v mercury battery that they don't make it anymore nowadays. So to use this camera you need to make 6v with one of the many different combinations of alkaline batteries. 4 LR44(1.5v) batteries with adapter 2 LR44(1.5v) with 1 CR123(3v) (you can use it by attaching them with tape no adapter is needed) 0.4v difference does not affect when using a camera. The combination of 2 LR44 with 1 CR123 work just fine, but I'm using a 4 LR44 with adapter because it is just quick than attaching with tapes.. I hope this video and this information is useful! If you have a father information please let me know! Thank you for watching!!
I need help with my first film camera!! Should I get the yashica electro 35, Ricoh ff 9d, Olympus stylus 80, canonet ql19, or Minolta srt200? Though after your video I am leaning towards the yashica electro :)) I would really appreciate your help!
Thank you for watching! Wow so many different camera to consider! I think you need to set the purpose of getting camera first! I haven't used all of them personally, but however, I can tell these are cameras with different categories. You can divide them with 1. Yashica electro 35, Canonet ql19 / 2. Ricoh ff9d, Olympus stylus 80 / 3. Minolta srt300. 1. Yashica electro 35, Canonet ql19: They are both Rangefinder (RF) Camera with non-attachable camera lens. I think these cameras are for people who want to carry around less stuff and want to get decent image quality. I personally have both of them and I prefer yashica a bit better for my taste of picture color. 2. Ricoh ff9d, Olympus stylus 80: Both of them are point and soot camera. You cannot change the lens, however, the Ricoh ff9d has prime lens and Olympus stylus 80 has zoom lens. I always prefer prime lens then zoom lens in the image quality, although the zoom lens is easier and handy to use. I think both cameras are for people who want to have a light and compact camera to carry around. I prefer Olympus stylus 80 although it has zoom lens, because it is much smaller and handy. 3. Minolta srt300: This camera is a SLR camera. Which means it can change the camera lens and change the setting to shoot many different modes. You can take a bulb mode, muti-exposure, and change the lens to different focal length. Furthermore, you can use a camera lens to DSLR or Mirrorless with an adapter. However, it is bit more pricey than other camera that you are considering and need a bit more knowledge to use it fully with all function. I believe if you want to do a lot of experience on photography then just taking picture for daily, this camera will the one. Check the reason how you want to use the camera! Sorry for a bit late reply. I hope this information be helpful to you! If you have further questions, please let me know! Thank you for watching!

Wow such a great information...! Thank you!! :))
Looking to buy my own in few weeks
Great! Hope you get a good one!
Hi, can this camera not take pictures without batteries?
lovely dreamy photos
Thank you!
What is the lense filter you have on your lense

Wow, great photos. Im also shooting with the Black version. Yashica GTN.
Thank you! Hope you have a great time with your camera too!
@@plusalphastudio yeah, thank you
I have a problem with mine, it's also a Yashica Electro 35 but not a GSN (I think it was the very first model of about 1966).
Great video! I’m looking to buy one of these cameras. Subscribed!
Thank you for subscribing!! Yashica electro 35 is great camera! Also have a look at the canon ae-1, which the review video will be uploaded soon!
Plus Alpha Studio awesome! I’m looking forward to it!
@@mikelute77 Thank you!! I'm uploading now!! Will take a bit though.. I hope you enjoy it!!

Thank you for loving my photos!! I think having a lot of time with the camera makes your photo greater! Cheers!
Thankyou. Its really easy to understand and i'll have mine on the way
Thank you for enjoying my video!
Where can I buy the batteries for this?
Loved it ! But how do you develop the photographs ?
Thank you!! I usually send it to the film developing shop and scan it!!

Great vid bro! :)
Thank you!!
Great review!!!!
Thank you!!
Great! I have same camera but its focus ring is stuck can u help me with that???
Thank you.
@@plusalphastudio Thanks I'll try!!
Best safe way is to send it to repair shop!!!
And be careful with lens coating and moisture!!
Great Video!
I just bought a GSN
Great! Have a good time with it!
I enjoyed the video, keep up the great work!
Thank you!! I’ll try hard to bring interesting and informative videos! I hope you enjoy other videos that are coming up too! :)
From where I can get this camera?
You can get from ebay!! Or check it from your local camera shop. Recently my friend pick it up from online market (like ebay) with repaired one, and it works perfectly! But when you buy from ebay, you must check its condition, since this camera is really old...
I have one you can buy it

Lovely presentation of a wonderful camera. Does anybody have any advice as to which I should get between Yashica Electro 35 GS (not GSN) and a Minolta Hi-Matic 7S ? Many thanks in advance
Thank you for enjoying my video! I don't have Minola Hi-matic 7s but I did some search about it. The basic information is as follow;
Yashica Electro 35 GS (same as GSN but only without PC socket on hot shoe)
Dates: 1973~1977
ASA(ISO): 25~1,000
Focal Length: 45mm
Close Focus: 0.8m
Aperture: f1.7~f16
Shutter Speed: 1/500~30 seconds
Weight: 728.4g
Minolta Hi-matic 7s
Dates: 1966
ASA(ISO): 25~800
Focal Length: 45mm
Close Focus: 0.9m
Aperture: f1.8~f16
Shutter Speed: 1/500~B
Weight: 725.8g
Both camera are very similar camera in function and size.
This is excellent! I didn't realize you were in Seoul. Any ideas on where to get film processed in Seoul or Busan? I heard Foto Maru is good.
Thank you! I try to take video and picture around interesting places in Seoul! I haven't been Foto Maru, but the place I go to process film in Seoul is ShinShin Color (Apgujung-dong) or Skopi (Hongae). Both are really great places!
Plus Alpha Studio thank you so much. I am down in Ulsan, so it is hard to find places to develop film. I have a yashica as well.
Oh really? Great! I believe you can send the film to some of these place to get it developed. Or have a look around Ulsan. (I had a look very short time, and internet says there is one in Samsan-dong) They must have one I think. Which Yashica do you own??
Love your presentation dude
Thank you!!!
Please let me know how it goes!
do you use external lightmeter?
No I don't use external light meter!
Nice. Thanks for the video
Thank you for enjoying my video!!
Great video thanks a lot! I just found and bought one a couple of days ago and It’s fully functional and everything, I just have one question about that little nod on the lense at the end of the video. What’s its función exactly?
Thank you for enjoying my video! Not sure which nob, but it is probably the timer!
Sir, I'm curious is yashica electro 35 gsn can not be used if not using battery?
Hmm I believe you can use it but the shutter speed is locked at default. So the photo will come out dark or too bright depend on the lighting situation! Sorry for late response.
Hi, Im a beginner in film photography, how do you upload the photos you have taken from the film camera?
Scan them on a Scanner onto a usb or onto a computer
You can scan the film and process it with photoshop or lightroom!
I've always wanted this camera but I really have poor eye sight. +650 on both eyes! How easy/hard is it to focus?
The focusing is quiet easy to do. You just match 2 image that you see from the viewfinder. Hmm about the eyesight, I’m not sure how hard it gonna be... Some cameras has diopter accessary that adjust to the eye sight, but not sure this model has it. You can perhaps try to attach other brand’s diopter or use a contact lens. I know how uncomfortable that is because one of my eye has really bad eye sight... Hope you find a way to use this camera!
Great video man ! So I need battery’s for this camera to work ? I was thinking about a full mechanic rangefinder .
Thank you! You can use it but it will not work on every shutter speed.. If you are looking for full mechanical camera try another one!
Can you tell me how can we transfer the photos captured on reel for pc or tv...after we click pictures ?
You need to have a professional retrieve the images from the rolls.. They usually get you the physical images + digital.

thank you for the review i am planning to get my self a film camera range finder canonet or yashica?
Thank you for watching my review! Both camera are great camera!
I was at a thrift and saw this camera. When I was manually adjusting the aperture the inside of the lens didn’t move. Is that normal?
hmm.. I think it should move..unless it is broken or out of battery
Hey man! Nice video.
I have the same camera but I just don’t know how I can get or buy a battery for it. Can you please guide me?
Thank you!
Hi!
I'm currently using 4 LR44(1.5v each) with adapter to make it 6v. you can get an adapter from ebay around $5~6. Here are some links:
www.ebay.com/itm/ADAPTER-ONE-BATTERY-for-YASHICA-ELECTRO-35-GL-GSN-GTN-GT-AX-SLR-y-MG-1/153099633358?hash=item23a57302ce:g:LDkAAOSwYlRZHeiz:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true
www.ebay.com/itm/BATTERY-ADAPTER-for-YASHICA-ELECTRO-35-G-GS-GT-GSN-GTN-MG-1/232966097406?hash=item363ddc89fe:g:rewAAOxycmBS9pir:rk:22:pf:0
However, there are some other ways to run this camera. The camera was designed to run by 5.6v mercury battery that they don't make it anymore nowadays. So to use this camera you need to make 6v with one of the many different combinations of alkaline batteries.
4 LR44(1.5v) batteries with adapter
2 LR44(1.5v) with 1 CR123(3v) (you can use it by attaching them with tape no adapter is needed)
0.4v difference does not affect when using a camera. The combination of 2 LR44 with 1 CR123 work just fine, but I'm using a 4 LR44 with adapter because it is just quick than attaching with tapes..
I hope this video and this information is useful! If you have a father information please let me know!
Thank you for watching!!
Plus Alpha Studio hey man you are amazing!
Thank you!
No worries! I'll try to upload some more interesting episodes about camera and related informations! Please enjoy following viedos! Thank you!!
Plus Alpha Studio Thank you so much for your detailed response!! I’ll definitely come back to your videos for more advice :) Best!!
Feel free to ask!! Thank you!
