I’m actually super happy I came across your channel today! I have a very similar pen grip and I also really tilt my head down to write. I’ve had my eye on a Vanishing Point for a while but I was nervous since most people who make videos use a tripod grip. Easy for them to recommend but I’d always prefer to hear from someone who uses our style of grip before dropping $160USD on one. And honestly, I just purchased a LAMY Studio and I like it a lot. I haven’t had much time with it yet. My daily driver is still a Pilot Prera. But I think the Vanishing Point will be my first gold nib pen and my next pen purchase!
Ahhh I’m glad it was helpful for you to see the way I write with a pen to determine if it might be right for you. The clip honestly doesn’t bother me at all. I did have a chance to test it at the itoya store in ginza before I purchased it and I think that made me feel better about the purchase. I genuinely couldn’t live without my decimo. I wanted to love the VP but it just felt a bit too big in my hand for longer writing sessions. And yes - definitely a pretty penny! Once I started buying gold nib pens I was on a roll. I don’t dislike the way steel nibs write I just love the way certain pens look over others. There was kind of just no going back for me. The Lamy studio looks really nice - I think I just had terrible luck with the safaris and never went back to try anything else they offer. Maybe one day…that being said I do find their nibs tend to run more broadly than I prefer but I will admit the lamy 2000 has tempted me in the past.. If you do get a VP you’ll have to update me on how you like it.
👌👌👌😍😍🌸🪷💙 My All Time Favorite Brands: 1. Pilot, 2. Sailor, 3. Platinum I like Fine Nibs, especially from Pilot. In my school days i used Medium Nib most of the time.
@@AliciaUstina WoW...👌👌😍😍Same Pinch Alicia😉 Yes, you are So Right about Pilot Fine Nibs🥰🥰🪷🦚🐬 Please suggest good Pilot Store in Japan, one I want to visit😍
Mine too! I’m a sucker for the Japanese fountain pens. Hoping to plan another trip to Japan soon so I have an excuse to go drool over all the pens in Itoya 😂
You have a great collection and also a great name. 😊 My absolute favorite right now is my Visconti Van Gogh Sunflowers with the sunflower ink. Thanks for sharing and for encouraging the use of the pens we collect not just collecting.
Thank you!! Ahaha I must agree that you have a fabulous name as well 😉the Visconti sunflowers pen is stunning! I love the yellow colour of it. So bright and very fun. Of course! I find it so easy to get sucked into the black hole of stationery shopping and sometimes it’s good to have a reminder to shop within your own stash, I often find many hidden gems that I forgot I had 😊
Love Kubozakura, always and still will be amazed and speechless that I have it every time I look at it. A pen that will never be boring to look at and write with! :) Thanks for sharing your pens!
I remember watching your sailor fountain pen collection video and absolutely DROOLING over this pen and then hunting down all your currently inked videos that featured this pen to see what you had inked in it, the pen envy was so real. It's such a stunning pen - definitely a favourite of mine. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video :)
Thank you!! I really do love my little collection - it serves me well. The KoP seems like a stunning pen, sailor knows how to make a good pen that’s for sure!
Ahaha thank you! I definitely have an issue with perfectionism and my handwriting when it comes to my planners/journals which is hilarious because my handwriting at work is chicken scratch 😂
Lovely video, your have a beautiful pen collection, I really appreciated your message to shop from my own collection first, there was a time when I found myself buying new pens before even writing with new pens I had already purchased - I know “shameful”!! I said to myself before I stopped buying and used the new pens. I get ‘pen-passioned’ so easily 😂. I got a little sad & confused at your comment about your handwriting which came just as I was having the the thought “what lovely clear sweet handwriting” - please don’t let your self-judgment/perfectionism get in the way of seeing your skills and talents. This was a beautiful made video with a lovely message shared with kindness and I hope you also give that gift to yourself too. ☺️ I have the original Pilot Vanishing Point in matt black in fine, but my Champagne Pink VP decimo is a medium but still writes small. I bought the Taiwan 30th Anniversary matt green which only comes in M-nib but it writes more like a B - I was surprised that there was a difference in the nibs from two Pilot pens. I can’t get to anywhere to try the pens so I watch the videos to shop 🫣😜… I did get a limited edition Iris VP in xf to try, it’s is very scratchy but with time is becoming smoother to write with as the hand adjusts to the nib. I’m also a leftie ☺️ I also prefer the Asian pens, I started with European calligraphy nibs, really like the Sailor nibs and now I’m liking the 21k nibs but they are pricy so have to be careful - but the little bounce they have gives me so much joy each time I see/feel it - isn’t that what it’s all about, the little moments of joy? I have the Ivoire Platinum Shape of Heat but I also like the Sailor Veilio, I got a Zoom nib, I use it for headers so the ink last surprisingly long. The Platinum celluloid Sakura still stuns me with its beautiful in my pen case and I am not a pink-person - buuut.. I looove your Shspe of heart 🥰🥰 Oh I nearly forgot bonus points to bf for tip on custom Ancora pen I love your lid/pen colour combo choice 😍 Sorry for the long comment. I have subscribed and will look at your other videos too. Varsha, London. 🙏🏽🫶🏽
Thank you so much for such a lovely comment! This was such a wonderful message to wake up to. I’ve been at work today and itching to reply but wanted to make sure I got to read it properly first! Yes I also get pen passions easily! I’ve just found that I have very specific taste when it comes to pens and I have too many hobbies that it’s hard to justify spending so much on each one 😂 apart from stationery, I do also have a penchant for makeup and that’s a terrible rabbit hole to go down too. Thank you so much for your sweet comments about my handwriting! I do find it hard to not be a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my stationery and my notebooks - it’s definitely something I’m trying to be better about though because like you said, it’s all about the joy that is brought. I must confess that I do also own the matte black VP in an extra fine nib but it’s been taken by my boyfriend. I found the actual pen a bit too big and a bit to uncomfortable in my hand and as you pointed out, the extra fine is almost too fine for my liking so he’s now adopted that one. The sailor 21k nibs are gorgeous. I’m glad I got my kubozakura in the 21k because I believe they’ve recently changed it to 14k. Sailor nibs and their feedback hold a special place in my heart. Truly such a joyous writing experience. I think I’ve just come to realise that I am a huge fan of sailor as a whole - inks and pens alike. The green Taiwan special edition VP is gorgeous! I am glad I don’t like the VP as much as the decimo otherwise I would’ve been tempted by so many…(the whiskey one is stunning too) the decimos I like are far harder to find (Japan exclusives that are now $600+ aud) and its easier for me to accept not owning them. This hobby truly is such a black hole that’s so easy to get sucked into. So many gorgeous pens. The Veilios are stunning! Which colour do you have? There are so many now. I really like the original white one and the purple one they did recently. Platinum pens are amazing writers. I’m very happy with mine. I will admit that it was a LOT lighter than I was expecting when I received it but now that I’m used to it I’m very happy with that purchase. The colour combination reminds me of a cup of warm tea or coffee. So dreamy. Ahaha yes he has some good advice from time to time. I think I’ll definitely need him to help advise on future creations when we go back to Japan because I am notorious for playing it safe 😂 Thank you so much for your support. I truly do appreciate it. I have so much fun chatting about stationery and I loved this comment. It makes me so excited to share about my favourite hobbies and interests and have people share in the excitement! 😊
@@AliciaUstina thank you so much for the lovely long comment. I think I’m really going to enjoy your videos. We are very similar in that I too have too many hobbies. I already did the makeup rabbit-hole as I used to work as a beauty/makeup/body treatment therapist. Done the too many body care products and now I’ve moved back to stationery which was my first love as a teenager 😜 I really appreciate you making quality time to read my message and reply and the lovely long message. It’s nice you can share your love of stationery with the one you love, I’m a little jealous but also excited for your trip back to Japan, whenever that will be - I look forward to that video too. I have the Veilio in white. I find the width and the weight of the VP easier to handle as I find gripping things challenging - I live with Multiple Sclerosis. The thinner lighter decimos are sometimes hard to grip. I do agree the Whiskey one is pretty. I’ve been trying to hunt down the Platinum Shape of Heart in chai latte (I’m Indian so grew up drinking chai from a very young age 😜) but I only found a M-nib and my Platinum Shape of Heart Ivoire is also a M-Nib so I shouldn’t really 🫣. I love your kubozakura and found an 18K F but I have quite a few shimmer and shading inks so I really should get larger nibs to make the most of the ink properties. I am starting to like the MF and F nibs - I started out with calligraphy nibs as a teenager and steel nibs - I guess I have refined my nib pallets to a finer taste of Gold and 21K at that. I have a Sailor 1911 in galaxy (purple with glitter but subtle) in 21K xf and it’s almost a flex nib. Well worth the investment for me. Anyway it’s been lovely messaging with you and I look forward to commenting on your other videos. Best of luck with your channel but your videos are great and you won’t need the luck 🍀 🙏🏽🫶🏽

@@AliciaUstina Please make more videos! I definitely do! I love how fine the nibs are on Japanese pens because I tend to write really small. Loved the TWSBIs but couldn’t stand how inconsistent the nibs were (sometimes F would write more fine than the EF or the EF would write like an M) and I’ve found almost all European nibs to be much more broad than my preference which is unfortunate because there are so many stunning Visconti pens! 😅
@@AliciaUstina whereas, I tend towards European/German pens because I like the broader nib widths to show off my pretty inks. I only have one Japanese pen in my collection - a Pilot Custom 823, and it’s a broad nib! 😆 At some point, I would like to add a Sailor.
@@naomifreya1481 Yes I think one day that might be the plan however unfortunately the population of Australia is far too small and the hobby isn't the most popular to be able to have a proper pen show like I've seen in other countries!
