    I love how mkbhd has more subscribers than theverge. 1 man overthrowing a company when it comes to consumer acceptance. Beautiful.

    i went from an iphone to this. the only thing was my fingers and hand in general were pretty stiff getting used to the keys. but besides that i'm happy i got it. it's a phone. not a gadget. calling and messaging is the best on this. THE BEST. and fuck apps. people who have a million apps on their phone are the types of people who don't do anything else but stare at their phone anyway.

    People don't even give Blackberry a chance anymore. I love my Q5 and it has an abundance of apps. Everywhere I go all I see are iPhones and Samsung devices. Then you have groups like the Verge who are just pro-apple and anti-Blackberry who don't help the situation. It would be great if you did an in depth comparison like PhoneDog who actually made an excellent comparison. I do however agree that the classic is for hardcore blackberry fans. If you want a good and fast modern Blackberry, get the Z30.

      they not stubborn, this was made to convert old legacy device users to upgrade their OS so they could stop support for previous blackberry OS, they've made a bunch of all touch phones as well

      Well if you follow Blackberry u would know that the company is not about cellphones anymore, it is into every enterprise that needs security, its basically a service company, working to secure companies, on the other side is QNX which is in car infotainment systems and also there is the BB 10 OS and devices, which are just add-ons u can say

      I believe the mistake they did was when they took over the consumer market and became the largest in market, BB is not fpr cunsumer market, they are on the right long term plan now, some people like myself included get a restart in life after failure, its upto them to either make the most of it or continue :P

      Before BlackBerry 10 I was using BlackBerry Bold. Than I got the Dell Streak 5 where after the Samsung Galaxy S2 as my second device as I was excited about Android and the bigger fancier devices. After a year I was unhappy with Android so I replaced it with the iPhone 4S while using BlackBerry Bold 9900 as my primary. After a year with the iPhone as my secondary BlackBerry Z10 was release and I replaced both the iPhone and Bold 9900 with the Z10. I have since used the Z10, Z30 and am now using the BlackBerry Passport.
      Now I know there is no best smart phone. There is just the best smart phone for a user based on how they prefer getting things done. BlackBerry 10 is best for me. No other smart phone is good enough or let me get things done as effective and as efficient.
      After using the BlackBerry Passport for a week, I realised that no other smart phone will ever be good enough again.

      Fabian Brown Let it go mate. WHat's the point of arguing with little kids on the internet? They use phones for instagram, gaming, "selfies" and other useless things. We use our BBs for getting work done, we need a real kb, a notification LED, BB Hub, etc.

    Here is a conversation I have had with multiple people now.
    Random person: "hey, what phone is that?"
    Me: "blackberry"
    Random person: "blackberry sucks"
    Me: "and why is that?"
    Random person: "they just suck"
    So after talking a little more, I find that not only have they never owned a blackberry before, but they have never even seen one.
    "BlackBerry sucks"

  • @chriswyles553

    My first blackberry was a curve and I then moved onto the bold. They were the two best phones I have ever used. I am currently using an IPhone 5s and to be honest there is nothing wrong with it. But I was in love with those two blackberries, especially the curve which survived a swim in the sea and a 2 storey fall onto concrete before finally giving in. I remember using brown tape to keep the battery in place and loving it for it. However my iPhone gets damaged and I feel like damaging it more myself.
    My iPhone works more or less
    Perfectly and I don't have any real complaints. The problem is that it has never felt like MY phone. It annoys me every time i make spelling mistakes or the touchscreen doesn't quite respond properly. The blackberry however was reliable, robust, it did everything right and it felt like MY phone. When it was slow to load an app I forgave it because I knew it was trying it's hardest. I felt powerful, in control of my life and as if I could do no wrong. I cannot say the same about my experience with the iPhone.
    This is why I and I'm sure many others will be buying a classic. A blackberry is not just another device, you find it grows as a part of you because it becomes so integral to your life.

    I miss having a physical keyboard. The T9 keypad was simply great... just hide the phone under the desk and not even having to look down meant that my school teachers had no idea that I was texting in the middle of the class.

    Blackberry had a chance here. If they didn't compromise on the camera and CPU, it could have turned out to be a great phone. The software will take some time but the first step is regaining and strengthening your fanbase with good hardware.

  • @SujanKandeepan
    @SujanKandeepan 10 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Somebody explain to me why it is that people think that a physical keyboard, such as that found on the BlackBerry classic and all the older phones it mimics, is faster? They say that touch keyboards are finicky and they just don't do the job, and that physical keyboards are supposed to be great for writing long texts such as this one, but I simply cannot find it in me to agree with that logic. I typed this up on my phone with a gesture typing keyboard and I noticed how much faster I'm typing here than the tech reviewer was typing on the BlackBerry. Seriously, how are physical keyboards faster? People keep using that argument to justify buying a BlackBerry but I don't see where they're getting this from.

    • @SujanKandeepan
      @SujanKandeepan 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are still people who feel that touch keyboards, regardless of how advanced they have become, stand no chance against physical keyboards, and that's also one of the main reasons why this phone was even introduced. I just feel like some BlackBerry enthusiast, sooner or later, will eventually hit me with that argument, and I'll be forced to pointlessly argue with them and convince them otherwise.

    • @jumpstart8159
      @jumpstart8159 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is is not faster. That's blackberry owners lying to you. The fact you can't even change the keyboard like a virtual one is a spot back

    • @ishanjoshi1350
      @ishanjoshi1350 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      With touch keyboards,
      Can switch between different scripts and emojis. Can type much faster with one finger using swype as physical kbs can't have swype.
      With Physical keyboards however,
      Can do much faster and more accurate 2 thumbed typing . Most importantly, can use it with wet/muddy/greasy/gloved hands. The second point is crucial to a few people who can't possibly have clean pristine hands at all times.I have at times been unable to take a call as it was raining and I just couldn't keep my hands dry enough to swipe and receive the call. The call take key really helps in that scenario.

    • @SujanKandeepan
      @SujanKandeepan 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** even if I had to backspace ten times before I finish my sentence, I'd still be able to type faster than you'd be able to type on your physical keyboard because the physical keyboards are that slow.

I thought I needed a cooler phone so Ii got the original Galaxy S. Didn't make me much happier and I really wasn't missing much that I couldn't do before. So I don't experience that same feeling.

    My dad used to have a blackberry curve. He loved it. He used it for ~3 years until it started to fail and do things like reboot 5 times a day. Recently he had to get another phone. He doesn't know much from tech, but recommendations made he buy a samsung phone. He wen with the galaxy core 2. He isn't very satisfied with thetouchscreen nor the software and the phone in general. I'd bet this would be the perfect gift for him. If only I was a millionaire...

    If you havent tried Blackberry 10 yet, i highly recommend it.Its an incrediblely underrated operating system that truly deserves every bit as much recognition as the rest.Aside from the fact that blackberry catches flak becasue of its past,BB10 should not be held in the same standard. It truly brings some awesome additions to mobile OS' that others just cant replicate without some major fundamental overhalls.

      pretty much sums it all up...a lot of people here have never tried BB10 phones, its an amazing OS and very efficient no nonsense approach, but because its a blackberry its an automatic failure...BBRY made the right choice to go back on their roots, as a business first approach company, targetting the only people that can appreciate the needs of their products and services...blackberry knows they can never target the close minded sheeps, that have nothing to do but bash/hate blackberry, its a blackberry product review yet the haters are here commenting on this video, bashing a phone theyve never used or try..

      The Pearl 8130 was my very first smartphone. Despite the issues (numerous warranty replacements), I loved it for everything it did great. Since 2007 or whenever that was, I've managed to try most blackberry models in the 8xxx and 9xxx series. A particular favorite was the Storm 2; I loved the concept and feel. But RIM did have a few shortcomings, but the public shifted away because of touchscreens. Enter BBOS10 with a lot of good touch implementation but overall unfinished, jammed in a market dominated by iOS and Android. Symbian was jagged, WebOS flopped, Windows Phone struggling; all good OS's in their right way but killed off/dying for lack of public enthusiasm. In America, anyway. It's unfortunate that so many people REFUSE to educate themselves or at least try something with an open mind. I admittedly didn't like BBOS 10.2 (q10), but I'm very excited for 10.3+ because I simply took the time to not be a loyalist barbarian and simply look into it, haha. I think BlackBerry did a very smart thing with the Classic. Physical buttons do a LOT for the interaction experience. The same people bitching about buttons are the ones using Samsungs or Apples that have one big idiot button on the front, hahaha.

    I don't understand why so many people prefer typing on a screen... I also don't understand the hate the call/end buttons get. One of the most functional features of a smartphone is to make calls... it doesn't make any sense to me that I can't do that at any instant with current phones. Having to go to the homescreen to look at the screen and press a call button is clunky and frustrating operation.

    This review is pathetic. Extremely biased and seems very likely that it's corporate as well. Some of the cons mentioned here are either not true or exaggerated. And a lot of the pro's are ignored. I just don't get why this is done unless it's an agenda. Because when it's time to review iPhone or Android, the bad is ignored and sugar coated or defended, and the good is over exaggerated.

    Honestly , what do you people have against Blackberry 10 ? Slow ? Really ? Not from what I've seen!
    Yes the internal specs are pretty much a carbon copy of the Q10 from 2+ years ago ; they should have been Passport level specs ! Especially for the price! But BB10 is so efficient that the Classic runs great with them !
    Android apps slow and buggy ? A tad slower sure but then this is an emulator not native running! I dare say that if iOS had a Android emulator, these same apps would be even slower! Come on, just running Android apps is huge ! And while we're on this subject you are aware that other Android app stores can be readily downloaded, including the Play store ? Didn't think so ...
    I've long suspected that tech press are paid ( ads and perhaps bribery) by Apple and Google to diss the competition. Or maybe it's BB10's efficiency that irritates the tech presstitutes; they wish iOS and Android were this efficient!

    I actually don't agree entirely with this review. Yes, it's not nearly as versatile as any other modern phone on the market, but for simple tasks like emails, text, calls etc, it's pretty darn good, and for a lot of people, that's all you need. the physical keyboard will go away though once screens are developed that can make physical textures so that the keyboard is similar to the old style physical keys.

    I feel sympathy towards BlackBerry because they don't want to realize that now-a-days we don't use that type of cellphones any more. If I was the CEO of Blackberry I would stop wasting my time and money making a product that won't be successfull (knowing from older products and what the competition is bringing up). I would try someting different, the Z10 was not a bad idea, It just needed to be more polished.

    The performance comparison is a shame. The Classic had ~7 other apps currently running when he started that game. Yea Blackberry actually has true multitasking (unlike other OS's) so all those other apps are open and running, using resources. Not that it was going to win anyway but obviously not even a fair start which made it look that much slower. Talk about giving the hare a 10 second head start or the tortoise...

There's no justice whatsoever, and it's ironic that these people are supposed to be in the know. So pathetic indeed.
    Anyhow, the reality is that Blackberry 10 is an amazing OS and is definitely gaining traction again.

    The same can also be said for the overly high priced iPhone 6 , but then again I don't need a device to watch videos / movies or take high quality pictures I have an SLR camera for that , so a lot of this review is just nit picking and I see the isheep like that .

    The release of the iPhone royally screwed up two companies. Blackberry and Nokia. They were kings in their market, not very long ago. It is surprising how one product from a competition can just turn your business upside down.

    Once the diehard BlackBerry users stop working, unless blackberry starts matching feature set and user experience that are provided by the other leading smartphone providers, blackberry's day of making smartphones is numbered. Kind of sad. But that's what happens when you don't adapt to change.

    "By BlackBerry fans, for BlackBerry fans - and no one else" Wow. Doctors, investment banking executives, military officers, world leaders, celebrities and multitudes of other professionals use Blackberry devices. If you are going to bash it, please respect the fact that most of the individuals that use it are most certainly smarter and more successful than you.
    Before I get into my argument against why I think your review is way too subjective and negative against the Classic and BB10, I want to layout my opinions on Apple iOS and Android...
    I think Apple iOS is great. In my opinion, the iPhone 6 is the most well-rounded smartphone available. It has great ecosystem integration and everything performs well. The interface is simple and beautiful (but somewhat childish looking). Lots of business pros and executives use it. I know because I am a young business professional and I own an iPhone 6. I don’t really have an argument to say it is bad or wrong because it isn’t. I truly think if Blackberry would have opened the API up the market would be iPhone and Blackberry.
    Unfortunately, Android happened. Most of the people that use Android are still buying DVDs and crappy electronics at Walmart. They are either mass-market, average people that waste time on media consumption / millions of pointless applications or they are tech spec geeks that use their fast processor to watch Netflix on their phone in front of their 65” 4k display. The first group of users are people that follow MTV and adopt what everyone else does…i.e. sheeple. Studies show that most Android users today do not even use any of the advanced functions the OS offers…they text, call, take pictures and use basic social media apps on the device. Studies also show they are mostly poor and uneducated users (I will post the links if required to deflect the criticism to the factual statistical studies). Even now you can see how Samsung and others are implementing a curved screen to entice dumb dumb to purchase a new phone. Their phones are becoming boring rectangles and they are running out of ideas to innovate. They keep throwing in pointless additions to push product and sustain growth, while not focusing on the core function of a phone being a phone. In marketing…this can be referred to as the "shiny object" theory. It works. Lastly, Android is buggy, unsecure, unpolished and in my subjective opinion…cluttered and ugly.
    I am taking my time to comment on this because I plan on switching to the Classic here soon. It does everything I want and more. As I was watching tons of these reviews, I started feeling quite bad for Blackberry because the elite tech geeks are trying to review it as a device for mass-market individuals. Same thing is happening with the new Apple 12” MacBook (i.e. - I can’t connect 50 external hard-drives…its not fast enough for heavy video editing...omg I can't produce Lord of the Rings on it) The iPhone 6 is great in theory, but I never really use any of the advanced features. I don’t do high-powered games, Snapchat, Instagram, Spotify, Pinterest, cook my meals, ect on my phone because for me, these things are a complete waste of time; I don’t live on my device like most…my LIFE brings me plenty of happiness. With regards to the iPhone, I find myself misspelling everything on the glass software keyboard. It is flimsy, everyone has one, the screen looks like crap in the sun (can't see it either) with all the smudges and I never really feel productive on it. Plus.. it drops calls often and the battery sucks so it is not really that good of a communications device.
    My old Blackberry got me through a finance degree in college and I always have this lingering pull to go back to it for the notification light, keyboard, multitasking ability, battery life, reliability and unique look / feel of the device in a sea of thin, boring, junky rectangles. There will be user interface setbacks and some initial adjustment required coming from iOS; I acknowledge this. But again, even if it is not as good as the iPhone 6, I am just sick of these reviews and how they are trying to push these guys down when they have a very good product and they are trying very hard to come back. The past management made a lot of mistakes which pushed even me away rapidly... but it does happen. They missed a big trend and they have acknowledged it, they have made tremendous progress and they are trying. Help them out a bit. Not everyone is a tech spec / app geek. Unfortunately, Dumb Dumb is just too busy sitting on their couch playing a first person shooter on their Android or iPhone to care.

    what about battery life.i took blackberry z30 for its battery life which easily last for more then 2 days and what about speakers which are so loud that my phone easily wakes me up in the morning. i have an ipad mini 2 whose speakers are so quite that i always watch youtube videos with headphones. i have used ios,android and blackberry 10 os and according to me ios is the worst os in terms of functionality and versetility, second comes android os which is definitely less refined and feels more featureful but only for kids,and blackberry 10 is the best os if you dig deep into its os,cos you will find many useful things to improve your productivity,basically ios is for rich and stupid uncles,android is for kids and bb10 is for experts. i will keep my z30 like forever due to some rare features it provides me.

    The new information that leaked looks like blackberry will try to get the market back.... I used the classic and loved the hell out of it.... And even though I'm on a better faster phone nothing can replace a blackberry.... Especially angry emails and break up.... There's something satisfying when using the classic passport or q10 not hut the keyboard but everything... When I had my classic I had all the app stores and they all ran great no lag of camera or anything.... Might just go back to it...

      Mohammed you have to do more fact finding sir! The device processor is sufficient enough for what the phone needs to do. You guys on other platforms don't get it. It's not about car sometimes, it's about the driver! BB10 OS is extremely efficient and doesn't require the same resources you see in Android phones. What you say is old hardware works completely fine in the sense of integration with the OS. The Blackberry Classic is a transition phone and was made for people who primarily use older Blackberry's like the 9900 to make the jump to BB10. If you're looking for specs then you should be taking a interest in the Passport or Z30.

    You will never fully appreciate a keyboard untill you type a full mail in 2 minutes instad of 4-5, because you have to delete all those mispressed keys.
