  • This is a walking property video tour of a Mansion in Los Feliz.
Below here a description of the home we are about to tour.
Introducing "The Cedars" - a monument to Old Hollywood glamour and artistic splendor, meticulously restored to its original magnificence by renowned fashion designer Sue Wong. Conceived in the 1920s by visionary French director Maurice Tourneur and inspired by the Duke of Alba's villa in Spain, this palatial estate spans nearly 13,000 sq. ft. with 10 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Nestled on the historic hills of Los Feliz, The Cedars offers commanding views of Los Angeles, from the city to the ocean, and stands as a testament to Hollywood's golden age with its opulent details and grandeur.
Stepping through its historical threshold, you're transported back to a time when Hollywood was synonymous with storytelling and celebrity. The Cedars has hosted legends like Norma Talmadge, Howard Hughes, Marilyn Monroe, Jimi Hendrix, and Johnny Depp. Sue Wong's meticulous three-year restoration revived the estate’s ornate ceilings, frescoed archways, and period ironwork, combining elements from Baroque, Empire, French Art Deco, Moroccan, and Andalusian styles. The Cedars is a living piece of art, where each of the 26 rooms reflects the elegance and creative spirit of early twentieth-century Hollywood.

This estate was truly amazing. I can not imagine having the money to afford such a property today, let alone the money to build this home in the 1920’s! I believe there was a great deal of Russian orthodox design styles through out this home, the ceilings with the religious icons, the rustic cabinetry, armoires, the “Moroccan room” which really reminded me of a wealthy oligarchs hunting lodge. Some areas made me think a set designer from a movie studio let his imagination run, the lions and gold walls, etc. enjoyed all the art deco period furniture throughout the home. It would be a wonderful stay in this estate, especially the plunge into the pool. It would be a grand life living here. I wouldn’t mind being one of the poor relations living in one of the servants rooms or guest houses.
Wonderful tour, really enjoyed this house.

Thank you for such a wonderful comment. I definitely think it’s possible a set designer helped.
