    I think the tri-fold makes more sense on short-bed crew-cab mid-size pickups. It takes up a lot less space when folded back versus retracted and makes more used of the limited bed length.

    That extra money is definitely something but I think in the long run it is worth it to get the retractable cover. the individual locking mechanism allows you to access the truck bed without opening the tail gate every time. for someone who use this a truck more as a family vehicle and use in the city, I prefer having direct access to the truck bed by opening the cover than having to open the heavy tail gate every time

    Niether...I rock an ARE truck cap. Love it. Last pet peeve....I don't like they did away with the small dial knob to reduce the flow thru the hvac vents. I've noticed when I have my air conditioning on, the middle air vent blows much stronger, probably 70%, as compared to the drivers side vents about 30%. So what happens now is my right side of my face freezes, while the left side hardly gets any cold air. With the small knobs, you use to be able to adjust the flow along with direction to even things up a bit. Thoughts? I look forward to your pet peeve video in the future. Take care and keep up the good work! Peace....

    • @ColeCulture
      @ColeCulture  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol I can respect a truck cap. And he’s I have noticed that. Maybe not 70% to 30% but at least 60/50. Im not sure why it’s like that except maybe it’s like that because the rear vents are connected to those middle vents. I don’t know if that’s truck but if it is that’s the only thing I can think of. Thanks again for reaching out!

  • @JR-sm3sq
    @JR-sm3sq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I would go with the folding unless you have the longer bed. The short bed is too small to carry much as it is without the cover and the retractable limits your ability to carry loads. The retractable bed cover is ok for people that drive a truck and never fully use it as it is intended.

    • @ColeCulture
      @ColeCulture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that’s true for sure. If your really gonna be using the bed the the trifold is the move. It’s also so easy to take off that even if the window block was a problem you could just take it off in 5 mins. Thank you for watching and commenting!

  • @pointsnorthgisuav8661
    @pointsnorthgisuav8661 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Good information. I ended up getting the tri-fold because the drum of the retractable cover took up too much space within the bed where the folding one keeps the entire bottom of the bed open outside of the top 8" like you mentioned. I didn't know about the 60 MPH rating on the tri-fold when it is up...good to know :)

    • @ColeCulture

      I really like line x. It’s close to $1,500 in SoCal to be put on which is pretty pricey. I’d recommend a spray in just because it’s the most durable and best for any resale. Thank so much for that compliment and for watching and commenting!

    For the price a trifold all day. Mine came in yesterday. $670 delivered. I do hate the drain tubes. If they made a near flush trifold with out the drain tubes I would prefer those. Had those in the past. So easy to remove the entire top with no tubes necessary.
    Retractable are nicer but hard to fork out 1,400 delivered

    • @eddiefniii
      @eddiefniii 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve been watching vids. There’s also drain holes way closer to the hose tubes to use. On the sides. Not the end. Don’t know why anyone wouldn’t use those since they are maybe 6 inches from the start of the hose. But I may be wrong. Don’t have my platinum yet.

    • @ColeCulture
      @ColeCulture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the price difference may say it all for some people. A more flush finish is definitely nice. And I’m not sure why the bottom grommet is favored for drain tubes, there has be a reason though. Thank you for watching and commenting!

    Off topic question for ya.. Are your running boards mounted with two or three brackets? If it's two, are there still pre-installed bolts under the B pillar for a third bracket?
    My buddy gave me his brand new 6" steps off of his F250 (he installed power steps) for my incoming F150, I just need to order the F150 brackets. These steps are designed for three brackets so they'll flex a lot if I only have two under them. My dealer said they "think" it has all three mounting points like in the past...🙄
    Thanks for your help, love the vids!

    • @ColeCulture
      @ColeCulture  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing, been looking for a comparison between these 2- your review is realistic.
      I want the retractable as it looks high-tech and posh design but saw elsewhere cleaning can be a pain and depends on the quality or brand.
      The tri-fold is easier to clean and maintain but tend to get flimsy or warp due to weather but then also depends on brand.
      And I get the point on thw tri-fold obstructing the rear view mirror.
