Never really had the desire to play PA till watching this. I played as much like you said in the video, I was in a rough 1v2 lane with a shaman p5 that was really bad, but still managed a 13:11 battle fury and the timing was perfect, i got a kill in lane, then got ganked, lived and tp base healed and walked mid, got 2 creep waves and small camp then battlefury right when i got to the ancients. Literally the cleanest game i could have had considering the rather lackluster p5. TL,DR- This guide won me my first nonturbo pa game ez. Thanks Handsome BSJ

I have raised my mmr by 1400 points since watching BSJ. Granted it doesn't sound like much, and I am still a scrub (raised it from 2800 to 4200) but those that have raised mmr by a 1000 points or more know how hard it can be with all the losses that come with winning and the setbacks. Thanks BSJ!

Actually there's a PA playstile where she's an early/mid game carry and doesn't farm at all, focusing instead in maxing her blur/blink and building as a killer/disabler (first item Deso, Manta, maelstorm or EchoS). But that's viable only when the enemy team doesn't have nukers that can delete her from any TF, or when the team is snowballing in early game and having extra damage and mobility helps more than an afk farming dude.
Hey there BSJ! Absolutely brilliant guide! Couldn't agree more with almost all of the tips you said. I thought PA was just a deso bkb carry, but after playing her for about 150-200 games I'm almost always going Manta as my 2nd item, followed by basher/satanic. Just staying on the edge of the fight looking for an opening because more often than not you will die in mid game if you blink in even if you have bkb(unless your team is absolutely destroying the game). Also against a team full of "Hunters" i just love going aghs as my 2nd item. So would like your opinion on if that's an option?
Imo adapting to items and decision making is important. You could go battlefury second, but if you do, prioritise farming over fighting (cuz bfury is for farming), likewise if you go bkb next then you’re preparing to fight a bit more as it helps you survive. But focus on target prioritisation now. Who can you kill w bkb? And keep in mind what hero can fuck you up after bkb (that way you can kill the person ur immune to w bkb active) and then after bkb wears off you kill the remaining people. Also watch out for who can fuck you up if you jump first. As for aghs the way I see it, it helps you in games where vision is really important cuz you’re basically permanently in blur
@@Zenovarse Very easy to kite a mid game pa with bkb. Forcestaffs, glimmers, ghost sceptres, etc. And there are a lot of heroes which shit on her even if she has bkb. Wyvern, bat, beastmaster, enigma, mag, windy, I can keep on going :) The bkb build on PA is centred around using your blink strike as an offensive tool. Whereas if you build around your blur, and use your blink strike as a finishing move or escape, it becomes very very difficult for the enemy to reliably target you. Just my two cents :)

Of course there will be games where it isn't optional :) But in the majority of games i have played, i have reliably found openings by being patient and disciplined with my blink strike instead of forcing an engagement by popping bkb and going in gung ho, only to find 3-4 seconds later that i have killed noone and my bkb is about to expire and I'm out of position :D

This is the first vid I watched from this channel and subbed immediately after he discussed so much info of the gameplay more than the current gametime. I play 6-8games at TI7 era and was on average mmr 3.5k but now currently 1k so much to learn and relearn

If you guys want some pa trivia, BF is a must on her not only because of the farm, but the interaction between Cleave and coup the grace, cleave deals pure damage(phys that ignores armour) so vs AM and terror blade that have insane ammouts of armour you can hit the ilusion and deal more damage to the main hero that way. It is actualy really inportant to do this to play optimaly. also Deadalus is a very strong situational pick. In some pa games you will feel that you need more damage in the very late game because you cant actualy burst people anymore with your ultimate, so deadalus makes your Non ultimate atacks actualy deal a good ammount of damage and really gets you back into the game. The way both crits interact is that it checks for an ult crit before the deadalus crit, so you never "miss" any damage really, also it is the item that has the biggest damage number save from divine so it really guives the hero insane ammounts of damage.
Absolutely wrong on cleave mechanics. It has been many years since the change. It was like in 7.20 or something where cleave started to be reduced by Armour.

Doesn't "idiot MMR" imply they will constantly misuse their spells feeding you lots of stick charges? It does depend on the match up though because the enemy does need to have spells to cast.
Don't know if this is just cos I am a legend scrub. But I've had a lot of success playing Viper 4, against PA. Bully her out of lane, once you hit lvl6 you can solo her itemless. And she has one less backliner she can jump on. She will eventually beat you late but you usually win the game by then.
I feel that... but I've never picked pa without seeing two squishy heros. And I can't imagine your team not reporting you second phase or third phase picking viper 4 after seeing the enemy pa.
Whats with the echo saber PA? Didn't QO persist on this build for ages and the community just dubbed it trash un-efficient as blink strike is basically a multi proc echo (sans stats)? Why wouldn't you go cloak/morbid/basher or something like that on PA with a magnus on team?
I'm not sure if my eyes are just bad. But I demoed PA, get Maelstrom and it does proc and crit at the same time. Did I misunderstood this? I thought It's going either or (Proc OR Crit).

Seeing this I remember one of my last game on PA, they pushed me to fight when I was far from being ready, so guess what ? We lost and I got flammed :)
I had a game where we lost evrything except our ancient and we won thanks to the aghs cause anytime they wanted to take a fight they couldn't find me + it helped jump from one target to another and perma break their mars and luna this item can be crazy sometimes
lucky for me, i play low MMR games, where a fighting early PA is viable build, I've been testing with diffusall first item + manta, and it's really efficient especiallyy vs carrys that like to farm a lot, since we fight like a brain dead zombies in crusader games, like we just fight.... we don't go for objectivs or map control, we fight , we are spartans...
teamfight pa: phase, orb of corrosion, ac mats, shard, complete ac, bkb, damage item, would recommend nullifier, other stuff could be deso/bf for wave clear against megas, basher, satanic, aghs. play style: blink in hit 3-4x, phase out, blink in hit 3-4x phase out. power threads atk spd doesnt cover what he needs for crits to proc, so phase is much safer option for its defense and its ability. also after that you'll have atk spd covered when you buy hyperstone for ac later. buy raindrops.
I love your hero guides! What you said about how pa will win the game off of one mistake from the opponents is so true. I've sadly lost a bunch of games to her when we had a massive lead. It literally took one sloppy mistake to turn things around. Thank you for the awesome content BSJ!
BSJ - I was hoping you would cover it this in the guide, but why doesn't PA buy a butterfly (more damage, more attack speed, more evasion, + 25 agility benefits) or daedalus (more damage and an extra crit)? If she is in a game with predominately right click enemies, wouldn't the extra evasion be the ideal third item?
Probably because an expensive item like butterfly gets countered by MKB. Unless you're going up against heroes that can't/won't buy MKB, the large cost of butterfly doesn't justify the risk that comes with it.
In 2-3k I've seen PA go wrath band/echo/defusal and massacre in mid game fights. Only works if your team is already rolling, but not hard enough that you can win every fight 4v5. Not having a ring for BF also makes sustain in lane hard, but if you have purge/save as a five to let PA live through spells, she'll massacre assuming they're not way ahead on farm.
Manta was a pretty bad choice IMO. 45:24 he was useless here because he can't do shit against all that AOE the enemy team has. Like not Buying BKB vs KOTL, Hoodwink, Luna is quite a throw. On that fight he could have simply dived the backlines with BKB + Deso while DP was chasing his team and turn that fight to his side. Manta was nigh useless, he even died to luna + KOTL while farmed because the protection manta gives against all that AOE damage paired with high magical damage and disables is nothing. Deso + bkb + shard (For enchantress) is the right call here.
Well I've played 500 games on pa, most of ppl think pa buy bkb is a must, like this game, they'll say it because Luna ulti etc. If other core doesn't have bkb what's the point, we'll try to avoid her ult anyway, Not Manning up. And also they always wants pa to jump first or hit tower. And when I tried to mirror the enemy movements, they'll say, "don't solo", instead of covering, gives vision or smthng. And when I see someone solo out of position and ask for +1 to punish, they'll try to fight the 3-4 ppl instead. -sincerely 3k Sea carry
I feel like if he had BKB and deso he could have committed to the fights earlier, rather than sitting back and throwing one or two daggers like he did with this stats build. Am I wrong about this?

dire is owning. he cant do shit when enemy pops bkb,if he goes deso bkb and jump at them they will just kite then kill him.they also have heroes dp(with ult), kotl, and luna(speedy heroes) the thing with pa is if u use ur w on them u need to kill them as fast as possible or ur fucked, also on dire line up its impossible for him to kill them from 100 to 0
I disagree with PA being useless for the first 15 mins, PA can get really aggressive if you have a good support and unless you're laning against viper or veno.
I don't think this guide is available for low MMR pubs, because in low MMR you just go treads deso/bf and kill them all. In the other hand, this guide is strongly recommended to high mmr players maybe 4/5k and above, and also for players that find themselves losing as pa, but you can win if you managed to pull off just one good fight.
What should you get if you are against something like a Storm/Drow/Lina combo that has physical and magical damage to outlast your bkb? I went for bkb to evate the initial burst and a manta to purge the silence from drow. It became a 60+ min game with us having mega creeps. The fight was still hard. Jumping in was not an option since the bkb ran out really fast while staying behind was not an option as well since the storm / drow harassed everyone to death.
If it's a 60+ min game, lots of random factors start playing significant roles. As for PA specifically, refresher is an option to get the second rotation of abilities and items, you can even get 3rd rotation with ex machina which is pretty hilarious.
WR ultimate counter for PA, I almost make sure I dont pick PA into a WR, you're basically dead with one skill (focus fire) even without MKB just a javelin/maelstorm.
Well at least I know never to pick pa, I generally offlane and recently I ended up on carry and picked pa. It went terribly because I tried to do things rather than farming. To be fair our axe lost lane to an AM, but yeah pa is not for me haha. I think I'll stick to picking jugg/dk/venge/ck because they like pushing and midgame fights. Yes I play venge carry, it actually works quite well for me because I'm bad and die a bunch and aghs makes you a better wraith king. It was better when shard stole armour and damage, but new shard is busted.
PA pushes consistently midgame with blur and blink and you tp rt fights that you know for a fact you can get any kill and not die. Any other fight u keep farming.

BSJ - I was hoping you would cover it this in the guide, but why doesn't PA buy a butterfly (more damage, more attack speed, more evasion, + 25 agility benefits) or daedalus (more damage and an extra crit)? If she is in a game with predominately right click enemies, wouldn't the extra evasion be the ideal third item?
Probably because an expensive item like butterfly gets countered by MKB. Unless you're going up against heroes that can't/won't buy MKB, the large cost of butterfly doesn't justify the risk that comes with it.
Evasion and crits don't stack well
If Daedalus crit stacked with coup de grace I would buy it second item or first item every game
Like 30% crit chance from Daedalus means you coup de grace chance by 30%, and your coup de grace is half your damage most of the time.

In 2-3k I've seen PA go wrath band/echo/defusal and massacre in mid game fights. Only works if your team is already rolling, but not hard enough that you can win every fight 4v5. Not having a ring for BF also makes sustain in lane hard, but if you have purge/save as a five to let PA live through spells, she'll massacre assuming they're not way ahead on farm.

Manta was a pretty bad choice IMO. 45:24 he was useless here because he can't do shit against all that AOE the enemy team has. Like not Buying BKB vs KOTL, Hoodwink, Luna is quite a throw. On that fight he could have simply dived the backlines with BKB + Deso while DP was chasing his team and turn that fight to his side. Manta was nigh useless, he even died to luna + KOTL while farmed because the protection manta gives against all that AOE damage paired with high magical damage and disables is nothing. Deso + bkb + shard (For enchantress) is the right call here.

Well I've played 500 games on pa, most of ppl think pa buy bkb is a must, like this game, they'll say it because Luna ulti etc. If other core doesn't have bkb what's the point, we'll try to avoid her ult anyway, Not Manning up. And also they always wants pa to jump first or hit tower.
And when I tried to mirror the enemy movements, they'll say, "don't solo", instead of covering, gives vision or smthng. And when I see someone solo out of position and ask for +1 to punish, they'll try to fight the 3-4 ppl instead.

I feel like if he had BKB and deso he could have committed to the fights earlier, rather than sitting back and throwing one or two daggers like he did with this stats build. Am I wrong about this?
BSJ sort of mentioned that - while he could contribute and they could potentially win those fights, would he have been making as efficient use of his time as he did farming?
dire is owning. he cant do shit when enemy pops bkb,if he goes deso bkb and jump at them they will just kite then kill him.they also have heroes dp(with ult), kotl, and luna(speedy heroes) the thing with pa is if u use ur w on them u need to kill them as fast as possible or ur fucked, also on dire line up its impossible for him to kill them from 100 to 0

I disagree with PA being useless for the first 15 mins, PA can get really aggressive if you have a good support and unless you're laning against viper or veno.
I don't think this guide is available for low MMR pubs, because in low MMR you just go treads deso/bf and kill them all. In the other hand, this guide is strongly recommended to high mmr players maybe 4/5k and above, and also for players that find themselves losing as pa, but you can win if you managed to pull off just one good fight.
He explains in the video that deso first never works and in no mmr deso is better than bf mr herald

What should you get if you are against something like a Storm/Drow/Lina combo that has physical and magical damage to outlast your bkb? I went for bkb to evate the initial burst and a manta to purge the silence from drow. It became a 60+ min game with us having mega creeps. The fight was still hard. Jumping in was not an option since the bkb ran out really fast while staying behind was not an option as well since the storm / drow harassed everyone to death.
If it's a 60+ min game, lots of random factors start playing significant roles. As for PA specifically, refresher is an option to get the second rotation of abilities and items, you can even get 3rd rotation with ex machina which is pretty hilarious.

WR ultimate counter for PA, I almost make sure I dont pick PA into a WR, you're basically dead with one skill (focus fire) even without MKB just a javelin/maelstorm.

I see WR I pick spec. Almost as useless as PA and farms even slower, but scales even better.
less winrate than pa in pretty much every bracket on dotabuff, and less picked, but you feel like a god when you come online.
Well at least I know never to pick pa, I generally offlane and recently I ended up on carry and picked pa.
It went terribly because I tried to do things rather than farming. To be fair our axe lost lane to an AM, but yeah pa is not for me haha.
I think I'll stick to picking jugg/dk/venge/ck because they like pushing and midgame fights.
Yes I play venge carry, it actually works quite well for me because I'm bad and die a bunch and aghs makes you a better wraith king. It was better when shard stole armour and damage, but new shard is busted.
PA pushes consistently midgame with blur and blink and you tp rt fights that you know for a fact you can get any kill and not die. Any other fight u keep farming.
