Keaton is an actor's actor which is someone who can play any role in any genre of movies. His delivery is comedy gold and he steals every scene hes in!
Here's a fun fact to illustrate how well Micheal Keaton steals the show. He only appeared in the movie Beetlejuice for 17.5 minutes total. The film is 92 minutes long.
"We got a serial rapist in Crown Heights, I...Oh jeez, that's from my other job. Ignore that, forget that. Well don't ignore it! If you live in Crown Heights, you know, walk in pairs." Gotta love Keaton
The other, other, version, is "TLC touched Cap'n Peppie's Kangaroo, Steve. Then, Michael Landon's Ghost touched an Angel's Steve, in Anaheim, Cap'n Peppie."
When he said that, I immediately imagined Michael Keaton with a pirate hat and a parrot sidekick on his shoulder singing TLC songs to little snot-nosed ankle biters.
"I'm doing that just to put a kid through NYU so he could explore his bi-sexuality and become a D.J." Michael Keaton is so awesome! One of the greatest of our time.
One of my favorite parts is when Will Ferrell comes in demanding his gun back in Gator mode while Keaton is on the phone and Keaton just looks around nonchalantly for it and gives it back like it was nothing. He doesn't say a word and it was one of the funniest parts. Such a great actor.
Michael Keaton is simply one of the best actors to ever walk in front of a camera. The man simply cannot be bad. He is only one of few actors to have fans from several different generations. Simply love this man!
With the bath mats, I love how it just tells a whole story with that one line. He's been waiting for them, he's excited to tell the sales team because he knows they'll be excited, but he tries to not act too excited at the same time so they stay focused lol
They actually can fly, chickens too. They just very rarely do and they're not great at it but if you keep them as pets or for breeding you need high fences
“Before I go any farther… Travis, please-Please. Stop talking about your near death experience on the Staten Island Ferry. That stuff-that just scares people. That’s not what the “Beyond” means. We’re talking about Bed…Bath…and Beyond…like down the hallway in the utility closet. Not like in other lands. Not like in the afterlife. We’re not talking about interplanetary activities. Think of it like, Bed…Bath…and a little bit Beyond…” Can’t believe that scene got cut. I laugh till I cry every time!
Always loved Michael Keaton. He was easily one of the best parts of this movie, which overall tends to be highly underrated. Even after his oscar snub, I hope he has somewhat of a resurgence. For both comedy and drama. However, I understand that before, much of him not having many roles is that he just wasn't interested rather than him not getting any offers.
He was not interested. Sort of akin to the "Rick Moranis" of Acting. Speaking, of Rick Moranis........He should have won an Award, of some kind, for his portrayal of "Who brought the Dog? man", in the original "Ghostbusterkeaton" Movie, of yore.
hazeddon : 3 years after your comment, just wanted to say I’m still mad - and also disgusted - that he didn’t win the Oscar for his performance. Ironic that the film collected the honour, but in my opinion, Michael carried that film from beginning to end.
Totally they missed an opportunity when Holt left to bring captain gene as the new captain permanently. That would have been perfect Peralta and captain Gene that show would take off!
My favorite scene is where Allen corrects that commissioner who told Allen and Terry to cut the crap. He’s like “I was talking to Gene here..” and Allen is like “yeh he prefers captain.” The look on Gene’s face is priceless.
If this movie was released again in theaters, I swear it would gross a billion dollars. So many people I know say it's one of the best movies every made.
I was the only one in the theatre who burst out laughing at that scene where he’s scratching his ear with the gun and then the phone rings and he drops it. I swear only Keaton could pull that off so funny and natural.

You can tell Captain Gene hates his job as a cop but loves his job at Bed Bath and Beyond.
Michael Slotter never thought of that. Good observation 😂
I wouldn’t go as far to say that he hates his job as chief of police. He is a little jaded.

It's true... great showcase of acting ability in multiplicity too
So true and it always seem harder for serious actor to do comedy rather than the other way around but he nails it!
He made that evident in Beetlejuice.
Did this role rejuvenate his career? Birdman was superb but I think this was before that…
