I love this renaissance of Jiri Prochazka. He called the campaign going back to his roots, and what he's had to say, about learning, building, rebuilding, that you could see it in his fight, you also saw when it slipped, towards the end, straight back in boxing range, but leaving that gap for his opponent as he's looking for the finishing shot... I'm very impressed that he is pushing past what got him to this point. So many guys can't break free from what got them to the top, can't break free from what has worked and will always work, as their secrets are pried open and their mystery evaporates, even as they feel the same drive and hunger. Jiri's studies, he said they got him finding his purpose, a path, and the tools to achieve them... those studies sound like they will/are perfect for the new path he has set for himself and the humility and insight it requires. Too focused on the target, didn't play more. It didn't look too lightly, lightly on the broadcast. He just had to wait out Aleksander's initial assault and subsequent hopelessness as he saw he wasn't breaking through. His foot took major damage from those kicks, too. Jiri's focus was tangible, you could feel it, not just see it. A big cat starting the chase and not blinking until dinner has been delivered. So Jiri is looking for more tactical patience? Not a bad idea, but aside from using his powerful jab more, it's a beautiful thing - and introducing the short, powerful shot, so the opponent doesn't have that gap to make their own shots, or feint him - the only meaningful moment for Aleks was when he got that fist/arm/elbow across Jiri's face, and it was set up with a great feint jab, followed immediately with a real jab, then the cross and it outfoxed Jiri - is using his hands as a more immediate, natural guard. Head movement can have him putting himself right in front of Pereira's left hook, level change can be read. The well drilled opponent will fire off something in those moments. The warrior hair has been put away, now urban man hair. Jiri's hair and beard have hit a really fine moment, he looks really good, evoking every kind of warrior of every clan or tribe or kingdom. Bestest wifi with his warrior hair, bestest energy and power. And a flat car battery? Jiri had better not agree to fight in two weeks, even if it's for the belt. He was winning that first round with Pereira, considering he only fully trained for about a week as he was on antibiotics with staph infection, I believe he can win the remach. In any case, it would be great fight to watch.
Jiri is one of the few fighters that takes his time to think and give insighful answers. Obviously English is not his first language, but he's got a great way of articulating what he's thinking
If you want to understand jiri’s idea of finding his path or his bushido code, also known as karate-do , watch the old series from the late 70,s called…”kung fu,the series”. David carradine was the star. The character in this series, is so close to jiri, it’s as if he is “Cain “ the shaolin priest who roams the wild Wild West, looking for his purpose…and kicking ass from time to time!
The fact people criticize Jiri saying he isn't a real samurai is ridiculous. This man's samurai spirit is undeniable and should be unquestionable. I became a fan after the Volkan fight and will be a fan for life. Also, his english has improved so much!
Gotta appreciate Jiri for always being nice, humble, polite and down to earth of a person in general. Don't understand why people are afraid to approach him in public; it's ridicilious... And shame on the UFC for not putting him on the main card.

Agree, its his spirit, he is incredibly tough, for example against Pereira he was out for split second but his body never stoped, you can watch it, first he said he was out and its ok stoppage, he said it out of humbleness, it was almost automatical as he didnt want to make excuses on the place, but later he said he was able to continue, and he was able to survive and even twist it, but he didnt say it out of excuse, just made statement.. and he was after sickness in that fight, there are no many people that can understand the mindset needed for something like this. 16:50 man Ariel you need to smell the roses, how could you say that after watching the BMF title fight and you and Jiri both know that. I dont think you even realize you stir the pot a lot.
These guys need to employ the Betadine. Provedine iodine. The brown stuff they drown your skin in before surgery. Anti bacterial, anti viral, anti fungal. The MIC chlorhexidine, nope, nope, nope. Any nicks, cuts, scrapes whilst training... squeeze it, aggravate it, make it bleed if you can, then go hard with the Betadine. Keep doing every few hours if necessary, including the opening up so the Betadine can get into it.
He will catch Pierra in a perfect storm
Y'all neglect how GOOD Rakic looked until Jiri comeback.
He was dominating Jiri and landing serious bombs and he did that after leg injury and long layoff
That's how the start of a lot of jiri fights look though
Checkout more of Jiri fights and you will see this patern all the time ....
Jiri getting smashed and then he turns it around and finishes his opponent
Literally everywhere I go, I only hear praise on Rakic in that fight. Nobody is belittling him.
"was" dominating the fight. Jiri put the pressure on Rakic and he broke him. He would do the same thing 9/10 times
cool
Prochazka was decisively winning the entire Pereira fight until he got too close and obviously got hit with the left hook from H E double hockey sticks. If you disagree with me go back and watch it. I think Prochazka has a shot if they gave him the rematch. I think he earned it
After fight not before?
