- The Roanoke single person pontoon boat from Classic Accessories is a fish catching machine! This model, often called a 'kick boat', is affordable and engineered with quality and durability built in. Classic Accessories makes eleven excellent models of fishing pontoon boats (as well as nine models of float tubes) for anglers who demand performance and quality. The Roanoke is to assemble (no tools required) and at 45 lb it is easy to transport. It is nimble, easy to maneuver with kick fins (optional accessory) and the oars allow you to travel faster and fish more of the lake or river.

You sir will not go hungry in that lake and nice boat
Thanks for the nice comments Richard. I upgraded to a Colorado XTS model pontoon (also by Classic Accessories) with a trolling motor mount. That lake I was fishing had lots of bass and kept lots of crappie in the freezer. Have a great day, Don
Great review. I think I’m getting one. I’ll probably switch out the seat for a padded one.
Thanks Captain Steve and glad you enjoyed the Roanoke review. It is a very nice, nimble personal pontoon. Since I keep getting older for some strange reason (ha), I have switched to the flagship Colorado XTS pontoon by Classic Accessories. It has a padded, swivel seat, larger pontoons and cargo pockets and a back deck cage for a trolling motor and deep cycle battery. I'd highly recommend it, if the budget allows, because of the ability to navigate in both smaller and larger bodies of water. If you Google Colorado XTS pontoon boat review and select videos, mine is the #1 that comes up. Best wishes, Don
Show-Me Fish Tales I’m 52 now, so yes motor would be nice. Paddling always seems to be against the wind. Be safe in this crazy world 😷
Hi, thanks for the great review. I’m considering one of these to replace my kayak. I’m attracted to the non-tippability 😊 and the more comfortable sitting position. I’m not interested in fishing, but I like to go to the lake, row, enjoy the day. Do you think it would be suitable?
Thanks for watching and commenting Elizabeth. This watercraft would probably do well just rowing around the lake. It would be a good platform for upper body exercise as well. It might be more susceptible to windy conditions than heavier kayaks with a lower profile. The leg exercise bonus is a result of wearing float tube flippers - Recommended. Caddis flippers work well and the ultralight ones are very good. It can be disassembled to transport but I kept mine inflated in the garage for convenience. Best wishes, Don
@@Winkiedoodles thanks!
Would you recommend this for the ocean?
David, as a dry lander, I'll have to pass on speculation about anything oceanic. I've been to a few harbors over the years and have never seen a bass boat, much less a pontoon this small, tied to the docks. Have a great week.
@@Winkiedoodles I would still try I was just mainly concerned if the saltwater would rusted more easily.
I have this toon. I use it every where. I just filled another bucket list landing salmon on it. They are the cats meow. No launch required. I leave it in the back of my Ram deflated. Once at my spot, blow it up and get fishing. Good video.
That's awesome, Brian. Glad you enjoyed the show and are liking the Roanoke as it is very nifty indeed! Best wishes, Don
Yoiu can see my vids on misfish 1.
Thanks, Skip. These "kick boats" effectively fill the void between a belly boat (which are lighter, more portable but also much slower) and larger craft. I didn't say much about it in the vid, but after having it on the water several times I'm really impressed with the inflation valves. It is crazy easy to let out some pressure (on a hot, sunny day) or to add air with the really good inflator nozzle that came with it. Best wishes, Don
Really nice video, Thank You!
amen on cool beans !!! best thing I've seen so far !!!
+MrSIXGUNZ Thanks and glad you enjoyed the show. The Roanoke is a very nice fishing platform. On larger waters I use a larger Classic Accessories pontoon called the Colorado XTS with a trolling motor. Very good customer service from this company, too. All the best, Don
thanks, i think im going to get one then a 2nd for my 13 year old. $$$$ is real tite and need to get a lot for it. blessings :-)
I just put together one of the Classic Accessories pontoon boats. I was really impressed with the manufacturing quality....and well-designed....everything where it ought to be...welded loops...straps in right locations and right lengths. Mine has velcro on the straps and a net storage basket behind the seat
John Stewart John, agree completely that the design and engineering of Classic Accessories products is excellent. I also have a Colorado XTS with a trolling motor. It has the velcro straps too and astonishing storage. Hope you enjoy your pontoon and good luck this season.
Ha! Great comment. No, but I've 'tweaked' it out a bit (since this video was first shot) with a few nifty gadgets: e.g. rod holder, Float Tube Fanatics low profile depth finder mount...... For a relatively small fishing platform (8' long and 45 lb), it is quite impressive in design and performance. Did I say I like it a lot? :) Best wishes, Don
Thanks. It is a nice little boat and fun to fish! Don
What a great video! Thank you for taking the time to show all the features of our Roanoke Pontoon Boat!
Thank you so very much. It has been a privilege and an honor to feature your Roanoke kick boat in numerous fishing videos over the past two years. I will contact you by personal message about an additional collaboration concept. - Don
can't find a fucking replacement bladder
Thank you and glad you enjoyed the show. I ran across Classic Accessories when my Outcast float tube went belly up.....I replaced it with a CA Cumberland tube (very nice also) and have been a fan since. This is the first small kick boat I've had and it is a good fishing platform. Pretty good exercise, too! Don
John, thanks so much. I spent a bit more time than usual rolling out some editing 'tricks' because I was so very impressed with this little boat. One really nice thing about these boats is that the bladders can be detached from the frame, deflated, and the whole shebang stored easily in a small area of the garage (i.e. winter!). I'll be 'tag teaming' with my Classic Accessories Cumberland float tube for a while and might even give it a whirl when the water turns cold (hip waders!). Don
Thanks again, Brian, for the nice compliment on the video editing. As you know, a good vid starts with a mental "screen play" of the story, followed by capturing a bunch of usable footage, and then putting the pieces together on the editing timeline. I spent quite a bit more time on this one because I wanted to tell a good story about this nice boat. Snow....sure! Can't wait to hammer those crappie in 48 degree water. I'm ready this year! Don
Great review Don and that pontoon looks fun! Had my personal best year of crappie fishing this year out of the kayak. I've never caught so many fish! Keep up the great videos!
Thanks, Darren. Congrats on a great kayak fishing year, too. Best wishes, Don
I will buy one.
Thank you for watching this performance review video. From personal experience I have really enjoyed the Roanoke. If you decide to put on a fish finder, here's the perfect mounting system that I use for this model of kick boat. It works perfectly because it is low profile and doesn't interfere with the oars. th-cam.com/video/TsBDyLhS_Bs/w-d-xo.html - Don
nice looking water craft! does it have a place to mount a machine gun ?
Thanks, it is a fun fishing craft and decent rowing exercise, too!
LoL! You do such a good job at editing.... I'm not sure if you are better at editing or fishing. I would have to vote both on that one! Indeed the cool weather is upon us with the chances of rain?! I'm excited as I know soon we will be back to fighting snow flakes and screwed up fish!!! Stay dry! Brian
Thanks, Brian; I didn't intend to spank anything with this vid, but will be sure to check out your new upload and see what bling you hung on your yak! Weather has cooled down and some actual rain in the forecast; things are looking up! Don
Don, thanks for the video. I have put it together - easy - and will be trying it out soon. One point of confusion about inflating the pontoons. The instructions read "Before inflating, make sure the valve is in the closed position. Unscrew the valve cap, make sure the valve is closed and insert the inflation adaptor into the valve and twist to secure, Inflate...' The pictures next to it shows "B Press and turn on center button and C insert into valve and twist to inflate." If I leave it closed, it does not inflate, but leaving it open has it exhausting when I finish. How is this supposed to work? David
David, First, hope you have great luck with your Roanoke. I love mine. As far as inflating, I never read those particular instructions. Having inflated other things, it was just intuitive. I just opened the cap, put on the inflator nozzle (turned the nozzle to the right) and pumped it up with one of those two-way sports pumps. After the pontoon was inflated, I just twisted the nozzle off (to the left), and put the cap back on. No leaking or exhausting. I never encountered any opening or closing of nozzles so I don't know what those instructions about B and C and all that were trying to say. Hope you figured it out! Don
Winkiedoodles Thanks, Don. I think we are saying the same thing. Basically, the valve is in the OPEN position when inflating, so when I stop the air is coming out until I turn the nozzle. not a big deal, but a little disappointing in that it is not a one way valve for inflating. By the way, I took it out on the lake yesterday for the first time. The temp was about freezing, but loved the way that it handled.
OK, I think I know what the deal is. When you insert and turn the inflator adapter, it opens the valve, and when you turn and remove the adapter, it closes the valve. All this is not a problem as long as you keep the inflator adaptor on your pump. On a one-way "Boston" valve, there's a little rubber flap. I like the valves on the Roanoke! :) Glad you had fun with it. Don
Don didnt get a new rod but, i caught my 5 fish limit and they were HUGE, didnt get the rod yet... Any sugestions for a hundred dollar rod?
it's exactly how long my cheap kayak is,and just a little less of what the kayak weighs.i do the same with my kayak.into the truck bed it goes perfectly with the tail gate shut! i like how your boat has a depth finder mount on it.isn't any room on my kayak to fit one and not be in the way
Thanks for the video ended up purchasing this kick boat in large part your video along with a rediculous deal on amazon got it for 200 couple months back. I have a portable electric pump and small hand pump, however neither of them have a psi gauge. What do you use for checking your psi levels or do you just eye ball it so to speak? Thanks in advance.
spchawk237 SPC, you are welcome and I'm sure you will enjoy your Roanoke. I found it to be a really fun kick boat to use, lightweight and easy to load/unload and caught tons of fish in it. You really did get a great deal on Amazon! No, there's no PSI guage for these inflatable craft. I use a double action hand pump and just inflate the bladders until they are somewhat firm, but not hard. Some tips I learned were to: 1. check the inflation before getting on the water and inflate/deflate as necessary and 2. On a really hot, sunny day check the bladders from time to time and let a little air out if it seems like they are getting too hard. When you get ready to mount a depth finder let me know and I can give you the info on the FTF system I used on my Roanoke. I did a video review of this system, too. - Don
Thanks, Tom. Didn't know (or remember) you had a kick boat. Fun craft and a lot speedier than a belly boat. Best wishes, Don
I just got me one month or 2 ago. but mines plastic pontoons no air which I'm 334 pounds down some and it works great. i wish I had this years and years ago. but in want o get another one but hard plastic for my 15 year old daughter she likes this one so I'll get one like this or just a small boat with a bottom for her. so we can go have fun. you stay safe have fun and god bless. o yea fish on.
Glad you like the Roanoke, Heath, and I was unaware they made them with plastic pontoons. They are a lot of fun! Don
Uea I can't find a name on mine but I finally found a few on Google but can't find a maker. But I'm hoping to get me another one. There 669 or so new when ever it was posted. But yea I wouldnd MIND one if these kind just always afraid of going flat don't need a miss hap while out fishing. But thanks for response

Nice looking boat!
Sgt, you will enjoy my upcoming video about the FTF "low profile" depth finder mount. Works perfectly with no oar clearance issues. FTF also makes depth finder mounts for kayaks with magnetic (yes, magnetic) transducer mounts so there's no holes, glue, or drilling. I think yaks are great. They can go anywhere, quickly. A great advantage of a kick boat (albeit slower) is that you can put your feet down, maneuver yourself around, and stay in position (easy in mild wind). Don
Congrats on the big limit! I can't suggest a specific brand because there's so many good ones for around $100. Instead, I'll share a technique for finding the one that feels right for me. The desired combination of light weight, strength, length and action can best be found by going to a store (Bass Pro, Cabelas, etc) and spending whatever amount of time it takes to put the rod in hand and feel it. Carry 2-3 around and compare till you find the one that just "feels right." It usually is!
I just ordered one of these from cabelas for $250 they call it the "Clark Fork" its the same boat different color. I myself have a car and it seems like it could fit with the seat down, although my car is a mid sized sedan (accord) so it has a larger trunk then a Honda civic.
I have a 12 ft. Jon boat I use when fishing with another person. Since I haul it in the back of a truck, kind of hard and too much when fishing by myself. I have been looking at a lot of the solo options. I really like these inflatable pontoons and Amazon has the Roanoke for $225 shipped. My only concern is I'm 6'4" and 230lbs. I know the limit is 275lbs but do you think someone of my size would be ok with the Roanoke? Thanks.
***** Steve, you'd probably be OK in the Roanoke. I'm 6', 195 and it floats just fine. That's a great price, too (about half of what they were a year or so ago). If you aren't a big fan of rowing, you might check out one of the 9 ft long trolling motor mount models that Classic Accessories makes. I really like the Colorado XTS and made a video review of it a month or so ago. With your size you might feel more comfortable in a 9' pontoon. You can check the different models out at the CA site and them maybe see if they have them on Amazon. classicaccessories.com/pontoon-boats-and-float-tubes/fish-pontoon-boats.html - Don
Great looking boat! Looks similar to mine! Thanks for sharing!Take care!
Don, thanks for an outstanding look at the Roanoke! The storage pouches looked spacious and very useful. The whole unit seemed well-designed! I enjoyed the way you composed your video with the addition of the perfect music! Another terrific job! ---John
nice setup
Am not impressed with getting shoes and feet wet. But I guess one could fashion a tub rest in the front.
What is the price?
Does anyone know of a good 12 v DC pump for using with the cigarette lighter?
linda wilson Linda, enter 12v air compressor in your Google browser and quite a number of choices come up; comparing cost on Amazon is also a good idea. Best wishes, Don.
im looking for something to just row, upper body row! how is this boat for rowing say 1 hour at a time?
Paul, it rows fairly easily. I'd say typically it takes less effort than a gym rowing machine unless you are rowing against quite a bit of current or have the wind at your back. I wouldn't try to row it upstream in fast moving waters. Best wishes, Don
LoL! Your review on your pontoon spanked my review on my kayak.... I just got done uploading it seconds ago... Course I have a few toys you may be interested in for your pontoon! As always Great video! I gave you a shout out so be sure to to keep your eyes and ears peeled! Brian
Cool beans! I hope you enjoy your Clark Fork. It is identical to the Roanoke and the orange color is nice. Best wishes, Don
Why couldn't you strap it to your roof fully assembled?
Edward Drew Edward, Even though a pontoon is bulkier than a canoe or kayak, it might fit just fine on a roof rack; not sure. I didn't address this as I use my pickup truck plus don't have anybody to help me load it. There's lots of other anglers who use personal pontoons and to help research your question I'd recommend asking them how they transport their boat and see if anybody puts it on a rooftop. Thanks for asking!
should i worry about oyster beds? thanks
Not exactly sure what your question is talking since we don't have oyster beds in central Missouri. Having said that, if you know of some hazard oyster beds create that should be of concern to inflatable boat owners, then maybe so.
I just ordered one, looks like a great boat. The video you made was great. well done editing and putting it all together. I love the music. Can you tell me what it is? Thanks
JeepHed Thanks and glad you enjoyed both the video as well as the boat itself. I think you will find it to be a nice fishing platform! The music is "home made", just something I created using a software program called Sony Acid Pro. Thanks again!
how long does it take to assemble one of these? im definitely looking into getting one. but it will not fit into my car assembled :S
Very good question; happy to respond. I put it together in about an hour. It has high quality components, detailed instruction booklet and a lot of the assembly is intuitive as the pieces and straps only fit one way. It is 8' long and 55" wide and although not very heavy (about 45 lb), you do need something other than a car to transport it. I've had a truly great time with this kick boat and enjoy its versatility, maneuverability and the advantage of being able to quickly row much longer distances than what is possible in a float tube. Classic Accessories has fantastic customer service as well. Hope you choose to select one of CA's 11 kick boats. The Roanoke is a fish catching machine! - Don
Great video and review Don! I'm sold, lol. I found one available for $225. I looked for a review and you popped up, a very trustworthy source. I believe I will order one to ship and leave back home... I saw that haul it in your truck bed... but how easy would it be to collapse it down to transport in the trunk of a car?
Thing is now... I am ready to buy 2 and my kayak may be jealous.
Jaime, glad you enjoyed the review. This Roanoke by Classic Accessories has been a really good fishing platform for me and if you found one for $225 that is a great bargain. I've used it (in 'tag team' fashion) with a Classic Accessories "Cumberland" model float tube/belly boat with lots of success. In comparison to a kayak, in mild winds it is very easy to maintain your fishing position by using your fins. These aren't swim fins, but are the same fins as designed for float tubes. A kayak can travel much farther and faster than rowing. Although not impossible, I think it would be a bit of a chore to disassemble the whole rig, especially with the fish finder mounting system - here's the perfect solution for that: th-cam.com/video/TsBDyLhS_Bs/w-d-xo.html so I keep mine inflated in the garage. It can be propped up along a wall or sit on the floor.
We are totally frozen over here right now so enjoy your weather in CA! - Don
It seemed like I was sitting in the water my butt was wet
can you hook a trolling motor to this one?
Telexia Jones No, not on this one; it is oar-powered. If you follow this link, you will see the pontoon/kick boats that have a cargo tray in the back with what looks like a black square on the basket. That is a trolling motor mount where the motor clamps on. Thanks for watching! Don classicaccessories.com/pontoon-boats-and-float-tubes/fish-pontoon-boats.html
I just got my pontoon how tight do I pull on the straps.?
