    This was a free concert in Brazil in May, in Copacabana Beach. 1,6 million of people went to see her. It was the concert final of the Celebration Tour. And no, this is not the first music of the concert, the first is "Nothing really matters", in case zou want to watch.

    This was so much fun! I love how she always manages to make her songs new and exciting, while keeping the magic. A Madonna concert is true magic IMO. She still brings it at 65.

    In the original like a Prayer version from 1989 , the guitar intro is played by Prince , same snippet played here by her own son , David, portraying Prince and actually playing the guitar 🎸

    Madonna was a member of a punk band early in her career, before she was famous. During this period, she met Steven Bray, with whom she wanted to make more dance-oriented music. Music she would want to dance to. There are recordings from that period, you just have to search. Like a Prayer includes a song with Prince "Love Song¨. He played guitar on the intro of Like a Prayer. This solo is reversed in the closing song of Like a Prayer: Act of Contrition. Madonna has used this sample several times during her concerts, at different times in different songs. Although not often recognized by all kinds of "important" musicians, Madonna and Prince were friends and had a deep appreciation and recognition for each other's work. There came a time when they wanted to write and produce a rock musical together. Unfortunately, this collaboration never materialized. It is for this reason that Madonna sang the song Nothing Compares 2 U at Prince's passing. Madonna is not a great singer, but she is an incredible performer. She also knows about herself that she is not the best singer in the world, she doesn't care so much anymore. But when she sang this song for someone important to her, she was looked down upon by all kinds of people, who don't know this history at all. And that's a shame, because then you can never get it right. About this kind of interpretation of her expressions and real commitment and sadness, she sings on the album Rebel Heart, the song Joanne of Arc.

      One little correction she met Bray in Detroit before leaving to go become a star in NYC then invited him to play drums during her rock band times and original management - they then started working together on more funk electronic music

      Why is it that for years whenever someone mentions how great Madonna is , they have to add that she’s not a great singer. Enough already. I thinks she has an amazing voice.
      Whitney Houston had a great voice and people always complemented her on it though it’s never mentioned that her songs were just average. She had no stage presence, wasn’t the greatest performer and couldn’t dance. They just raved about her voice.
      Madonna opened the doors for the rest of these female artists. She did it first. Did it best. There will never be another Madonna yet let’s forever talk about how bad she sings.

    • @bartkerste2149
      @bartkerste2149 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@roospaws There is a difference between whether someone's voice speaks to you or not. Singing is also about controlling the breath, being aware of your voice, using your voice properly and exploring your range. Madonna is first and foremost a performer, her shows are great and within those shows she uses her voice to what her voice can deliver. Madonna is also a great musician and a very good producer, those are things that cannot be questioned however a great singer she is not. She knows that herself as well, which is no surprise. In the past she has found this difficult because she wishes she could have been. After all, she has a tremendous amount to say and what she has to say is relevant to this day. However her voice, with which she can tell this has limitations. With that, is it unpleasant to listen to her, that varies very much, when we look at the live performances. I like her voice, but I can distance myself so much from her ability that I can say, no the degree of her success is not proportional to the qualities of her singing voice. It is, however, proportional to the degree to which she expresses herself as a performer. Someone may be able to sing great, but then not have a message. In other words, such a person is, in my view, a weaker performer. These people do not interest me that much. If we look at Madonna her voice, it was really fragile until the period when she took singing lessons for Evita, after that there was a significant improvement, especially in the lower regions and her head voice. This she has built on and the lower regions have now become her strength, here her voice is warm and able to carry the melody well. However, when she lapses into the region between the higher notes and switching to her head voice, there lies a problem. And so used to sing a lot, during the Blonde Ambition tour she even pressed her voice so hard that she temporarily lost it. Poor technique, not making the right choices regarding singing and dancing at the same time and not being able to reflect enough on her own vocal usage in the process. In addition, keeping up the voice that we know from Britney Spears, here the vocal cords are tightened in a way that you can't keep up and it shows. Personally, I prefer that she sings the way it's still going, rather than falling back into that pinched higher voice or the pitch is raised, which she then can't sing live. I've never really understood that and that's Madonna's voice that I like the least, during live performances this also gets screaming. Throughout her career Madonna's voice has changed a lot, she worked hard on it after the Blonde Ambition period. It just wasn't right and she knew that. When we compare her voice before Ray of Light and after, there really is a world of difference. When I look back on her career, she had an incredibly good voice during the Drowned World Tour, practically singing everything live, with no underlying line. She insisted on that, we see this again on the Reinvention Tour and for another 10 years or so after that. Now she can't sing those higher pinched notes. She should sing better within the region where she feels comfortable. Then her voice is warm and melodic.

    Madonna’s live performances are everything🔥🔥🔥. She always switches up her songs to keep them fresh and fun for her fans as well as herself. Her concerts run the gamut from campy/pop to dark/intense, metal. Like others have suggested, you should check out this same song from her Sticky and Sweet tour from 2008/09 or her 1990,Blond Ambition Tour. Also you HAVE to check out “ Gang Bang” from her 2012 MDNA tour. !!! She also does a metal version of “Hung Up” from her Sticky and Sweet tour mixed with a little Pantera that you will love. BTW, the Prince tribute at the end was done by her son David Banda who she adopted from Malawai when he was 2 years old.

    the guitar at the end is a the part that prince played on act of contrition at the end of the like a prayer album, payed this time by her son David at the end of like a prayer.. The way she intertwines the past and present on this tour is nothing but genius. Previous choreography brought in to the present and honouring people she has worked with all brought this tour celebrating her career so far to life. React to live to tell from this tour its heartbreaking.

    It’s great hearing you say that the mix and production of this song sounded so fresh, because it’s essentially the same remix track from 1989, and the same remix from her Blond Ambition performance of this song from 1990 (which would be a great reaction just to see this same song performed completely differently 30 year ago). Madonna has always given fresh takes of songs in each concert, which makes them all so unique, but all still artistically amazing.
    I’ve loved all your Madonna reactions - you totally get her in that she’s a punk alternative artist under the guise of shiny pop star.

    I was gonna say watch the full show live in rio. BUT this is more of a livestream where each angle is just chosen as they go. She filmed this show before the rio show in Mexico City. Where there will be more of an editing process to make it look more polished and this show has some theatrics they couldn’t do in Rio since that was outside. This show was more so crafted for an inside arena setting.
    So maybe wait for the show to be finished and released from the footage in Mexico?
