- Two college buddies venture out into the wilderness in search of game fish and tranquility. We liked it enough to do it again. Here's a breakdown of how you can have the same experience, if you've got what it takes!

All I ever caught in Richie were Northern Pike. I've been there four times.
Thanks for confirming. Any decent size? Two years and it's like we couldn't get something over 20-22" after catching doooooozens
Very entertaining-Thank You!
Glad you enjoyed it! Check out my latest video in the Boundary Waters which I would say topped this one!
This is Awesome!
Thanks for the watch and sub brother!!
I always wondered how the fishing was there. Not a lot of ambition to go myself however.
It's reel good!
I'm headed to Isle Royale in August. What are you using for lures at Chickenbone? Richie?
Everything works. Rapala, Mepps, you name it. They're aggressive.
Great video! That looks like a trip I'd love to take some time. I'll be adding it to my very long to-do list.
Great video Mitch! Im glad i got experience some of the trip!
great fishing
Fished lake halloran august of 23’the am mount of pike out there was crazy
Any size to them?
Great video, some friends and I are portaging the island in August, are the trails friendly enough?
The length of the portages will be your biggest consideration. The through hiking trails are much more established because hiking is more popular on the island than portaging canoes, so the trails that are exclusively for portaging between lakes and don't overlap with through hiking trails will be the least established least maintained but still plenty adequate. I would take an unmaintained not very well established quarter mile portage over a very well maintained 1 mi portage any day. If you're trying to portage a canoe more than a mile, you are not going to have a good time. Plan your route so you don't have to do that, use ferry stops that have short portages from the ferry stop or paddle the coasts of superior when the weather allows you to until you get to a shorter portage.

Awesome info! Thanks so much man. I’ve watched your video a few times through looking for more ideas on how to make our lives easier while portaging. Is there a map or app that shows portaging trails/hiking trails so we can plan them before we leave?
Poor fish handling, good video.
Have you ever handled the very toothy fish in the video? You can’t lip them or they will shred your fingers! Makes it a little harder to handle them! Good day!
Ok karen
