    I know I did not pressed the like on all vids in this tahoe series, but any how I loved each vid and it was awesome to watch you build this Tahoe. Its too bad even if I had the money to do a build like this the vehicle could never be registered in my state due to the emission regs. Awesome build

      Brett Bowersock yeah. Had the same thought in a previous video, when he spoke about engaging the lockup at 60. “100km/h before the lockup engages, thats a lot!” i thought. But then again. Canada. As a european, i struggle to hear the difference between US and Canadian accents.

    The closer the fuel is to vapor the better the fuel economy.
    Smaller injector hole sizes reduce the fuel droplet size. Smaller size holes require more psi to drive the injector.
    Green Diesel Injectors are 160,000 psi, built with syringe technology, also containing a piezo hydraulic fuel pump.
    On a 6.6 liter diesel these injectors help achieve 500hp with 40mph.
    See Johnny Magic videos.

    Have you considered a Banshee 2 vgt controller from steed tech in Colorado for a larger quick spooling vgt turbo that won't have such high egt's they are 750 US dollars but well worth it. I run one on my 12 valve and absolutely love it

    Could you put one of them cheap GT3582/3576/4582/2576. Would any of those variations work good on a 4bt. There's no videos about it so I'm guessing that it would just blow up the turbo

  • @Erated78
    @Erated78 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great vid Rich as always. Will you be adjusting primarily the boost on the turbo to get better gas milage? If so, will you film that and explain that? I have zero experience with turbos and would love to learn. Thanks.

    • @DEBOSSGARAGE
      @DEBOSSGARAGE  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Erated78 Getting better mileage is a balance of boost and fuel. The more fuel you put it, the more boost you get, the worse your mileage. It is finding the right turbo for your application and setting your fuel accordingly. Adjusting the wastegate is a safety feature to make sure you don't get overboost. The cylinder head gasket can only take so much. Replacing your cylinder head bolts with studs allows for more boost but again, I don't need that for everyday cruising which is why I will be setting it at about 40 psi. The different Turbos, and the different compressor and turbine wheels all make a different graph that takes a speacial kind of genius to figure out. I will share everything I know and learn along the way though.

    Great work and great videos, can't hget enough of them. Question: I put an OM606 engine with 90cc of fuel on a 2002 Silverado. The stock kkk14 takes long to spool. Would you happen to know how the HE221w might work with my set up, if it might be able to imrove spooling time? I'm currntly seeing about 5psi at 2500 rpm, I'd like to see more boost a bit sooner for comfortable daily driving. Also don't have an EGT gauge just yet but I suspect high EGTs.

    Did it give him better mileage in the end?

  • @heathadin
    @heathadin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So, I have a 99 Silverado 1500. The 5.3 is a great motor but I am driving a lot, probably 400 miles a week. I want to throw a cummins in it. I would love a 6bt power wise but the 4bt will most likely crush the fuel mileage. How do you like the power/speed of the 4bt? Any guess on what you are pushing out of it? Were you able to make the cruise control work?

    • @DEBOSSGARAGE
      @DEBOSSGARAGE  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jay Gile If it has a 4l60E, the 6bt will rip it to shreds and if it is 4x4, the torsion bars won't be able to hold the weight. 6BT will have lots of power but the 4BT has enough for cruising and occasional towing. I have towed 9000lbs with no issues.

    • @heathadin
      @heathadin 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DEBOSS GARAGE Were you able to figure out the cruise control? Did you ever dyno the Tahoe?

    • @DEBOSSGARAGE
      @DEBOSSGARAGE  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I looked into the dyno and the shop wanted $450 sooooo, no. I havn't had time to look at the cruise yet. I need to set up an older vacuum setup but have to figure out a vacuum pump yet. A 6bt is nicer for that as you can use the Dodge setup. The 4bt really doesn't have any room for the pump

    • @heathadin
      @heathadin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right, I'm just trying to get some better fuel mileage without destroying power or drivability. It's a nice build, and I'm looking forward to seeing what your fuel mileage gets to when you get into tweaking things more. I looked up 0-60mph times for the stock Tahoe and it looks like yours is about 1 mph per second slower(the conversion is a pain) so like 2 seconds overall which isn't bad. My truck has 4.56 gears and runs 35" tires, with the hyper tech tuner I get 14 mpg mix of city and highway, would love to double that.

    Old video, but new subscriber. What size exhaust housing did you go for? 5.5, 6 and 7 cm seem to be popular but I'm not sure if I should consider anything but the 6 cm for my 4bt in a 77 f150 4x4 swap at 4500' feet home elevation.

I was just thinking today of dropping it back down though and seeing if the new turbo makes a difference on lugging. I did have to replace the torque convertor on my Silverado with the 5.9 in it because I had a heavy load and it locked too soon so I am careful....
