    Kylie's vocal is so beautiful and fragile. How a song about a man smashing a woman's head in with a rock can be beautiful and artistic is some achivement.

      The entire Murder Ballads album is wonderful. Kylie's clear, delicate voice and Nick's menacing baritone complement each other so well. She's also on the ensemble track Death Is Not the End

    Kylie was a soap opera star here in Australia on “Neighbours”

This show was a massive hit in the UK and the production team of Stock, Aitken, and Waterman took over her career

SAW had achieved success with "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" by Dead or Alive and then were known for their production line of hits for Rick Astley, Mel & Kim, and then Kylie Minogue.
    Kylie ended up in a relationship with Michael Hutchence of INXS (he made “Suicide Blonde” about her) and his influence made her choose more mature themes.

    • @hanierfamily
      @hanierfamily  ปีที่แล้ว

      That explains why her early stuff sounded so much like the late 80's pop coming out of England.

    • @johnchrysostomon6284

      @@hanierfamily It's funny how careers go as she starred with Jason Donovan in "Neighbours", and like her he also had the SAW treatment -though he's now faded from the light whilst her career's gone on
      He had done "Nothing Can Divide Us" which even Astley had rejected! A duet with Minogue, "Especially for You" did help him a little... but alas.
      Also capitalising in on her fame was her sister Danni known previousl for appearances on the television show Young Talent Time (1982-1988) (this was a show featuring a cast of young singers) and for her role as Emma Jackson on the soap opera "Home and Away" which was kind of a rival for "Neigbours" (on a different network).
      Danni married Aussie royalty in the form of Julian McMahon (son of a former Prime Minister) until she decided to appear in Playboy (Australia) and that killed off her marriage
      You'll know Julian McMahon from roles in "The Fantastic Four" and the tv series "Charmed"

    How can you not like Leonard Cohen's songs? There are so many, so different ones. Give it a try: Suzanne, Famous blue raincoat, Night comes on, The partisan, A street, Nevermind, Sisters of mercy, Tower of Song (live, London), Avalanche, Dance me to the end of love, Ballad of the absent mare, Happens to the heart, If it be your will ...

    Yeah, you definitively need to have an appreciation for the morbid things in life to enjoy Nick Cave. 😂 Personally that's what I love about him and Cohen, but it's not for everyone.
    The ensemble track Death Is Not The End is a bit more tongue-in-cheek and is more melodious like this song. Worth a listen!

    Nick Cave, to your undoubted relief, has moved away from Murder Ballad type songs over the last decade or two. Many songs have religious references but combined with urban realities. The man is probably the best living lyricist - i would recommend We Called Upon the Author to Explain, or Jubilee Street. Genius. Just a shame he plays arenas now.
