I personally think who you love could of sounded so much better like it did in this video but it sounds WAY to popish in the full version. It's a shame.
+Colin Weeks I mean all he did was add some guitar riffs, some acoustic guitar to fit the context of the album, and collaborate with katy perry. Aside from that it's the same. Maybe katy's voice is what makes it sound popish? Which makes sense since she's a pop star.
+Chinchillupa Guy the album version is just very glossed over and smoothed out. This is way more raw and in my opinion, just sounds better. But yes I think while collaborating with Katy perry he wanted it more poppy but hey it's not my music it's his.
I really ask myself where is John Mayer, all I hear in the album is super simple country music. In this video they show so much high tech gear, guitars, effects, amps, consoles... And in the end the album is so simple with almost nothing in it. Feels like it could have been recorded is simple home studio, with one acoustic guitar, drum loop machine, and one simple bass.
Odpr Jo With experience you can say so much more with so much less... experiencing beauty can feel very simplistic anyway ...don't you think that's cool?
+Odpr Jo I feel like its simplicity is what makes the album amazing. Sure something like Continuum was great because of the guitar skill presented in it etc, but being able to do simplicity well is a great thing! :)
+Odpr Jo Years ago he said he wanted to go to less guitar oriented music, hence the general theme of this album, he has an album coming out this year he's recording the same crew from continuum though, so expect great things.

My favorite part: "That's a nice sing songy..."
at 1:58 he plays the chord prog from Moving on and Getting Over. Interesting to hear how things can get recycled and repurposed years after.

At 6:23 he plays a copy of Eric Clapton's Gibson ES-335 'Cherry Red'. It has a 'Hare Krishna' stamp on the machine head.
+ColinStachowski I believe its one of Claptons, given to John by Eric himself
0:24 can’t say Travis Scott sample
Zane's rings though
Opening scene: John casually turning up the $50k dumble amp to 11.

Why does he said the neck? Of his electric
Lol I meant sand* but he said he sanded the SRV neck
smooth transition for one position to next. the gloss can get sticky especially when it's humid out.
anybody know type/style of hat he is wearing at 0:34?
+Carson Brown I thing that it's Fedora.
+Carson Brown It's a flatbill fedora
I like how it's supposed to be "Whom You Love," not "Who You Love." Whatever. What's life without whimsy?
Lol
perhaps it's short for "who do you love?" ?
Anyone know what he was using at around 00:40? I love that watery tone
Looking for that answer too!
