For it's time period, these trains didn't have ditch lights. What you see are marker lights.

One thing that would be interesting to add to your videos would be a disassembly segment for those who wish to add DCC/Sound at a later date
At $700 it should automatically come with dcc and sound.
@@kenneth748 The used sales table is the only place to buy Rapido products. They're pricing themselves out of business... it's just a matter of time now. The price will drop through the floor on this.. just give it a few years (if you can wait). Personally, I'd avoid buying anything new.. too many quality control problems coming from China (these are the dark times for the hobby).

Great review and great model! I wonder if an european style of couple, like the Roco KKK can be used instead of the original couplers, just for the sake of easier coupling and uncoupling.

The red application is the 3rd rail shoes, used in Grand Central Terminal, when this train ran at the time.
And mods were made when they moved to Penn Station
This looks like an amazing model. The price is totally crazy though.

Amazing models, but come on. Those prices are insane!
Pick it up on the used sales table in a few years for a few hundred less. Personally, I won't support Rapido at the retail level.
@@chrisdaniell2990 rapido prices tend to go up, not down because they rarely re run things unless with new numbers or liveries .
@@douglasnorth4703 They also dump inventory in 'mystery boxes', say they'll never rerun the cars again and do exactly what they said they wouldn't do (FP9, Turbo, Prime Movers, GMD1, Angus Caboose, etc, etc, etc.) Where there's money to be made, no matter how it's made is what Rapido will run... expect to see a lot of reruns and plenty of 'grasping at straws' style of business to keep the business going. Up to you how you want to spend your hobby dollar, but, I won't do business with Rapido.
As much as Rapido is charging for these, they should come with the exhaust smell from the turbos and functional miniature toilets. Over $900 for a set! I’ll just be content counting my money by not buying one….and watching videos of them on TH-cam. 😂
