New review of the Cold Steel Rifleman’s Hawk Tomahawk. This is one of their heaviest and most useful hawks. Check out the master list of tomahawks, axes, and hatchets by Cold Steel, CRKT, SOG, and Estwing in the text description box. Enjoy :]

Love mine. I've removed the set screw, and the finish. Filled the set screw hole with a bolt. Cut off the head of the bolt and filed it down. No more hole. Looks good too. And for as big as this is, it throws well. Yes, get rid of the set screw, get a good wood rasp and some sand paper and work the top of the handle down, just enough to friction fit the head, takes time, but its pretty easy.

What is the problem with leaving the hole 🤔 its not like you can see it

I agree, this is my favorite Cold Steel hawk as well. I prefer more weight for inertia over lighter weight for speed. My favorite hawk is the Helm Forge hand made 18" long with hammer poll opposite the blade. It was $200, but with 4130 steel, I will be passing it on to my 3 grandkids!!!

I did a really controversial thing to mine, sawed off the hammer head, and now it's perfect for me. Don't need that much of a hit strength, it's thin enough to dig deep into most logs, but it was a bit too heavy for a tomahawk (subjective of course). And it still works as a hammer for wood/tent stakes and even smaller nails. I know there is many different models, but it was the only one i could get at the time where i live. So far so good. Want to get trail hawk next.

Sounds cool, I have a forged poll axe tomahawk (blade on the front, flat back that can hammer), and your modification sounds like it would resemble a bit heavier version of it.

I don’t think I would’ve personally gone that route but then again,Ive never even handled this particular tomahawk so who knows...glad that it worked out for the best

I’ve got one and it’s a beast. The hammer poll makes quick work of any smashing job. Great demo tool and weapon. I swap it onto a war hammer handle sometimes if I need more power, but right now my Norse hawk head is mounted on it. I keep it behind my front door for “emergencies.”

I always Mig weld over the screw in the head then file it smooth. My favorite is the Viking hand axe.

I like these hawks way better than what condor has to offer.

Yeah, I was thinking of my Condor hawk the other day, what I could do to maybe improve it. I think I'd have to really re-profile it's edge.

Definitely hard to complain for the price. You can get all there hawk's for the price of these other's I've seen. 👊💀

For sure, that is the thing about Cold Steel, people like to debate about their knives and swords, but the best values they offer are the hawks and machetes, an impressive collection of those is within the reach of normal people.

I got some pretty good hunting knives recently, Outdoor Edge 5 inch folding boning knife is one. So, might be some sliced and baked chicken at some point in the future :]
