tory's album helped inspired my 80's album I'm working on, i think that'll tell you who I thought had the better one. I drop my first single from it dec 2nd
I think Dawn FM is better and so is After Hours because the albums each are cinematic and have deep lyrics. While on the surface everything sounds upbeat and high energy but the writing is sad and cinematic. IMO Weeknd’s albums are a lot more cohesive and in general have a nice clean production that I like a lot more. Alone at Prom sounds muddy to me and is definetly not as good as Weeknd’s projects
Tory has a TON of lyrics in his music that honestly make absolutely no sense, but he still makes it sound good. DawnFM is good, it’s my least fav Weeknd album though, whereas Alone At Prom is my fav Tory Lanez album, Tory is my 2nd fav artist (Weeknd first) Alone at Prom wins by a lot imo.
Alone at prom was amazing and a masterpiece, tory truly captured the 80s imo he did it way better than the weeknd on both after hours and dawn fm, not to mention after listening to the alone at prom deluxe, the man essentially went 21/21 not a single miss of straight quality and carefully executed musical vibes along with a persona (ashton rain) to give it even that more substance, hes singing from the perspective of ashton rain, not tory lanez, and also tory didnt have the backing of the industry even to the point where they hid his deluxe album on its drop day on apple music, everyone tends to count tory out and imo hes one of the most talented and gifted artist of this era, completely and fully independent as well, holding over 25 million monthly streams on Spotify while being independent is crazy
I respect what Tory was able to accomplish with this album. I also acknowledge the universal acclaim it has received. In some ways, the mere fact that an independent artist can produce music comparable to an artist who grossed $350 million on his respective album tour is a big win. My argument was on the substance of the project, which is definitely subjective.
I respect the time and effort put into making this video and appreciate hearing your opinions and thoughts... my own opinion is that Torys album is more of my own preference. we also have to take into account that 1 artist is solely independent with a budget of what ever he can afford by himself while the other has a huge industry backing to hire teams for many aspects of the project that an artist would benefit heavily from (ie. writing being among them). we all know tory is a great artist and a decent writer but with him being solely independent he doesn't have the luxury of additional options and opinions of elite writers to tap in and check with. im not saying he would definitely use them but having the option and sometimes the added opinion can influence a lot and affect results.
That’s a great point. The fact that an independent artist has an album that is even in the conversation with arguably one of the biggest pop artists of our time is a testament to how good the album is.
I have 2 albums that sound they came out in the late 80s, early 90s New Jack Swing era (J. P. Heartbreak & J. P. Heartbreak 2). Both The Weeknd and Tory's (Ashton Rain's) albums are both God in respective rights. Salute. - Pyro
For someone like me who was always in a chase the one I want while the one I don’t want chases me and I had to mature.. but when you get older and settle into a life you really don’t want.. there’s a void In your soul… and if you say his perspective is baseless I understand.. but if you ever had the baddest chick in the room for a short while you know it’s like a drug.. there’s soundtrack to my life is a mix of 6lack Free 6lack and Alone at Prom… every song on both projects represent a part of my life… I gotta give the weekend album more of a chance tho .. cause I ain’t like it when I 1st heard it
Naw I'm not Rollin with this. Torys album was better the music sounds better gives off more of an 80s vibe. Haven't seen people kill Torys album like they did with Yawn FM. The Weeknd is one of my favorite artists but this one ain't it.
@@lomax21 1. Thank you for the comment. 2. Yawn FM is hilarious. 3. I think you are definitely in the majority in thinking that The Weeknd’s album disappointed. Your perspective is one of the main factors I took into account when making this video and I respect the fact that you think Tory’s album was better.
@@lomax21Dawn fm isn’t yawn FM. I think the album grows on you ALOT and some of the worst tracks are some of his best. Take My Breath, Sacrifice, Gasoline is just groovy. I would recommend u listen again, it might change your opinion

ngl the base album was or could be considered close but the deluxe definitely made it clearer that Tory made the better project

What are some 80’s albums that actually sound like this?
Bro wha? There’s plenty
Madonna has a song that sound exactly like a song on lonely at prom I just can’t name the Tory song it is
Art is expression.
Weeknd realized his problem
Tory did not
No need for tory to have a “good end” in his album
I respect your viewpoint. I like the Tory Lanez album. I love the deluxe.

Both are masterpieces in their own way.
These 2 are my all time favorite artists 💯
The weekend put more time and thought into his album

You guys better not say Alone At Prom, Alone At Prom is a good album but it’s not topping After Hours.
theirs just more layers in dawn fm compared to alone at prom
Tha weekend didn’t even wright Dawn FM. Check the credits. Lol
I respect that. I think a lot of his hits have either been written or co-written by other artists.

Bro no one cares what they’re saying, we basing it off which album gives us the 80s vibe the most, and it’s Tory
I respect that opinion
I just like TL’s voice better
I think Tory's Album has aged better for sure.
