Welcome to Canada, I am so proud of my county and the decision to help these people be re-united and freed from those horrible conditions that no one should be living in. Make yourselves at home, and I promise, as a Nation, we will do our best to make you feel as welcome and comfortable as possible. #Freedom
+Blueflames424 The only reason these people are being allowed into this country is because the opposition parties exploited pictures of a dead child for political gain during an election. A year earlier reports of tens of thousands of Yazidi and Christian women being raped and enslaved garnered virtually no sympathy from Canadians. You're proud of that?
+Ken Scheffler I'll be honest, I wasn't aware of that situation. - Thank you for making me aware of it. No, I am not proud for that. But that situation is a little more difficult to handle because it is a woman's rights issue. Right now these refugees we are saving, are from the death of war. To be able to save those women that have and are falling victim of rape, Canadians would have to invade the country which is not in our best interests. We are peace keepers, but we can't save everyone. Although I really wish we could. But we do what we can. Which is more than some countries whom are turning a blind eye to these activities and denying help to refugees. Their first and only thought are to send armies and bomb the land. Sending fire to extinguish another fire, only results in catastrophe.
+Blueflames424 That's not quite true, I believe. My understanding is that there are c. 20,000 Yazidis in refugee camps who want to get out. They are no more difficult to get to than other "Syrian" refugees. The issue is that the government wants "Syrian" refugees that meet certain criteria. Also in terms of private sponsorship, it's a matter of support from existing communities in Canada that will raise $$$ to sponsor them. There are not many Yazidis in Canada, and most Canadians don't know these people even exist.
+mohamed soliman Do not be fooled friend. The Government is the one you should be thanking and Prime Minister Trudeau because most white canadian people do not want syrians here, that is the truth. Canadians are very racist people. And when I say Canadian, I mean Whites. The difference between an American and a Canadian is that an American will tell you they are racist but a Canadian will pretend to be otherwise.
+Tim Buktu nope, remeber without canadians' votes in the election, Trudeau wouldn't have been a prime minister, if they really hated Refugees they wouldn't vote for Trudeau, because one of the main pledges Trudeau made is that once he gets elected he will welcome 25,000 refugees to Canada, surely you must have seen how almost entire canada voted liberal, so honestly just giev up, we know there are some conservatives and some racists who despise refugees and muslims too but if those were the majority you would see the difference
+Tim Buktu Hey moron, just to remind you, both trudeau and wynne are white, and they are the reason why Canada allowed Syrians in Canada so get off your ignorant self-righteous high horse.
+Ltblac Why are you anti-white?? YOU have no right to destroy my nation for your agenda. Nobody's flooding Africa with Non-Africans and giving them free health care, affirmative action and special privileges. Only White Countries are doing it, only White children are affected, and only White politicians are allowing it. Diversity = White Genocide = SICK!!!
Not sure why it took 15 years for these men to get citizenship to Canada?? I'll never understand why some countries hold a man child/children accountable for a parents crime? I'm happy their family is together again.😊
***** "We have a duty as Canadians to support all those who come to our shores seeking a new life." => so by your logic, if a billion Chinese all want to come here, it is our duty to let them all in and give them welfare? Of course not. I'm sure your answer is no, and i would agree, the answer is no. So clearly your statement there has qualifier. "and will get their things paid for by the private family," => not true. Many of these private payers will be tax-reimbursed, which means ultimately our taxes is still responsible. Furthermore - the private payers are only responsible for paying for the first 1-2 years. After that, the government will be paying for their welfare. and yes - you can argue "oh but by that time, those ppl will find a job". BUT REALLY?? IS IT REALLY THAT SIMPLE TO FIND A JOB?? last time i check - unemployment rate among Canadians is already higher than ever before, so what makes you think a foreigner who can't even speak English will be able to find a job?? If native Canadians are already having trouble finding a job, what chance do a foreigners have??
***** oh yea i'm definitely not against refugees cuz i'm afraid of Muslims or whatever. My worry is on economy. It's really simple: unemployment is a function of # of jobs available + # of ppl looking for jobs. In times when there aren't many jobs out there, the LAST thing u want to do is to import more ppl... i mean..think about this: there are Canadians RIGHT NOW who are without jobs and can't find a job (e.g. Alberta). How do u think they feel when they learn that the government is spending 6 billion dollar on refugees instead of investing that money to creating jobs for jobless Canadians? How is that FAIR?
***** actually, if we are talking about putting refugees in places that need more ppl (e.g. certain remotes regions of Canada that need more ppl in order to develop an infrastructure), then I could see your point. I know many interior regions of Canada lack workers and frankly could use a boost in manpower. However - last time i check, government is sending thousands of ppl to cities such as Toronto and Vancouver. VANCOUVER!!! The most expensive city in the world!! How stupid is our government to send refugees to the most expensive city in the world for settlement? How STUPID is that?? An average family-size apartment for refugee in Vancouver cost about $2000 per month - and taxpayers are paying for that...(meanwhile, i know of towns in Saskatchewan that is only $400 per month and they need workers. Why aren't we sending refugees there???)
I do not hate helping people. The press wants all viewers to think this is what all Canadians want. If the truth be told it is not what we want. Oh for awhile the refugees will think it is great to live in this country, but when the hype is gone and they have been here for awhile, many will realize we have a very different way of living. Very different laws and mostly Christian values. How long do you think they will last with a smile. When the men are not allowed to beat their wives. When they cannot force their children to marry old men. When it is against the law to have sex with animals. When sodomy is against the law. When stoning is against the law. You have to realize that SHARIA LAW is all they have known all their lives. Sharia law gives men power over their women and that does not compute in Canadian law. Many Canadians are too quick to dismiss the realities and that many are coming here for all the free benefits we give them.
+C Gravelle These people don't strive on violence and inequality, in fact, believe it or not, but they despise their government system. The sharia law has been the detrimental cause of emotional distress and mental scarring among these people. Do you honestly believe they agreed with the state their country was in? With the policies that were followed and the practices that occurred? These people flee in order to find some peace, ignorant people such as yourself can't see that. All it is that remains in your heart is pure selfishness and zero compassion. I hope you can open your mind and refrain from being such a closed minded human because all humans are beautiful, and those who carry little to no compassion are usually those I feel most sorry for. God bless you and may you follow down a path with extended amounts of love for those in need.
I actually follow no religious practices. However, I do have family who practice islamic faith. I personally know people who have lived all their lives in these war torn countries, they have lived everyday in fear. Yes, there are bad people there, but there are bad people everywhere. Don't be mistaken, Middle-eastern systems are usually ridiculously corrupt, and those who carry evil within their hearts have freedom to unleash all hell among innocent civilians. It's basically a system controlled by evil, evil is those who beat their wives, stones people, and so forth. It's those who are filled with evil that commit these crimes and have more power and publicity over the good people. They prayed to live in a world without the violence and they finally come into an area where all these nightmares diminish. If you are not against helping people then why not go out there and help people?
+serah alta I am concerned about Sharia law being practiced behind closed doors.. Concerned these families will not be able to covert to Canadian laws. To allow Muslim children to play ,with other children, of other faiths. When I was very little, and being a Catholic I was not allowed to play with Protestants. I was told if I did I would go to hell. My best friend was a Protestant. I had to sneak around to play with my friend. There came a time when Catholics and protestants stopped stone age practices. Today, no one cares if you are a Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Hindu, etc. If you are a good decent person, live by Canadian laws, and bring your children up with good values, then who cares what religion you are. I think a lot of these refugees will not think that way. SHARIA LAW WAS MADE FOR MEN. I FEEL MEN WHO COME HERE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LEAVE SHARIA BECAUSE IT IS A FORM OF CONTROL. Another thing, we are born into a religion our parents believe in. On that note when reaching the AGE OF REASON all humans must be able to practice any religion they wish to. It is a right of all human beings to choose, and not be killed for those choices. Not to be banished for their choices. iF PARENTS REALLY LOVE THEIR CHILDREN THEY WILL GIVE THEM THAT RIGHT TO CHOOSE. God gave us that right. I am not overly religious, but I believe there is someone higher than all of us. DO YOU AGREE WITH ANYTHING I HAVE SAID. I am glad we are sharing our thoughts..
+C Gravelle I see your point. Sharia law is all that some these people know, they did grow up in that environment and this was a part of their upbringing. I think in the end you and I are attempting to express the exact same statement, just in different wording. There is definitely a chance that some immoral practices will occur behind closed doors within the groups of people that are brought here, however, there is also a high chance that this doesn't occur. Theres good and bad in every bunch, so generalizing the whole group may be detrimental to the good. I personally agree with Trudeaus decision in allowing these people here, he is a man with all good intentions. Every refugee was deeply investigated before achieving an acceptance to Canada, most refugees who were accepted are young children and mothers. The only men who were accepted were family members of past time canadian citizens, those with PhD's or those with severe medical conditions. Looking upon the refugees, most cases make it near impossible for them to up bring harm upon the community and upon themselves due to the situation they're in. The refugees that were chosen were 1 in a million, they barely got the acceptance and are thoroughly investigated at all times. I'm glad we are sharing our thoughts too. My apologies for my aggressive statements and if that came as offensive to you. All in all, I believe there is good and bad in all groups of people, and although extreme precautions were taken to avoid leakage of bad in these groups, there still may be bad people behind closed doors as you stated. However, the good are still deserving of help, since they have experienced terror all their lives. May the world become a better place, with people working together rather than against, and love becoming more important than money... I hope you and I are on the same page here :)
God bless all the Syrian refugees and Our Prime Minister.

I am a puddle of tears rn!
THATS WHY I LOVE YOU CANADA !
I would rather these refugees be my neighbour than those who oppose their arrival in our beautiful country!!!
+Ltblac It is not about that but it is unfair how many of them will be Canadian citizens in no time.

Its funny how they zoomed into the pre-ba'athist flag of Syria multiple times.
He sayd he has lived in Canada for 15 yrs , But how come he cant speak English.
Its not that easy. When you're older its gonna be harder to learn a new langue
Yes they do. I have friends who are fluent , if not at least they know what the local requirement is. Get you facts right .
