    All the deep knee bars, heel hooks and footlocks that the Miyao's have been in... and it's his knee bumping a table that makes him cringe in pain.

    I believe that Miyao is secretly a HARDCORE wrestling fanatic that is actually better at takedowns than ground game and one day he'll just start throwing/shooting in and wreck everyone's shit hardcore.

      +jayme pereira nunes (jayminho) The thing is that he isn't usually a lot of energy. He is so smooth with his leverage. It seriously is like going for a walk in terms of how tired you get once you start to play the berimbolo game.

  • @zigzzagz5732
    @zigzzagz5732 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Not having watched a lot of actual matches, is this pretty common to start off in a match by sitting down and bum sliding at your opponent?

    • @zigzzagz5732
      @zigzzagz5732 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aaron I've got to agree with the "unfortunately" bit. It just doesn't seem right to start a fight on your bum. Jump to guard maybe, but in a sport that at least approximates fighting.....well, it just doesn't feel right to start it out sliding on your bum.

    • @ChiStriker
      @ChiStriker 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Zigz Zagz BJJ is largely a sport now and not a martial art. And a sport will form around the rules

    • @ChiStriker
      @ChiStriker 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aaron I think sub-only is more entertaining but I wouldn't say its better for self-defense, since it doesn't reward dominant positions like mount, the only reward is a chance at a submission

    • @ChiStriker
      @ChiStriker 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aaron Well that was the thought behind points, I dont completely agree with it but I think it is something

    • @chcknpie04
      @chcknpie04 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Zigz Zagz My thought is that the idea of BJJ is fighting from the ground, either from being knocked down or from taking an opponent down. So if the hypothetical is 'you've been knocked down', then starting a fight from the sitting position actually makes sense. I'd prefer if there was a coin flip like in collegiate wrestling to determine bottom position

    This kind of jiu jitsu only works one place; a competition mat.

    • @joebeast15
      @joebeast15 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You fight how you train my man. You saying this stuff is good for self defense? Please elaborate

    • @joebeast15
      @joebeast15 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You're wrong. Pure Gracie Jiu Jitsu is GREAT for self defense. Doing whirly birds on the ground is something TOTALLY different. Don't get GRACIE jiu jitsu and Brazilian jiu jitsu confused as they are two very different things. That stuff was tested in countless REAL street fights in Brazil coming up, it doesnt get more "real" then that. When people would doubt it, unlike other martial arts, they would fight you straight up to prove it. People that say what you do have NO CLUE what real jiu jitsu is. People who train at sport schools dont 'pass at blue belt my man" I am a brown belt and I have people come from sport schools who are as high in rank that dont know how to act when we put gloves on to train with strikes involved, so you are wrong there again "my man".

    • @joebeast15
      @joebeast15 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am not talking about MMA idiot I am talking about regular people in regular life. I don't give a shit if you believe me or not, I told you what I am whether or not you want to believe me is entirely up to you. It's no sweat off my sack if you dont. I am talking about the difference between BJJ and GJJ, and there is a BIG difference, if you don't know that then I would assume you are either a sport guy or full of shit.

    • @joebeast15
      @joebeast15 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How are you not understanding this? I said FOR SELF DEFENSE dumbass. I understand that this is a BJJ match, my fear (as well as other greats such as Rickson) is that jiu jitsu is being watered down by having the focus shifted entirely to the SPORT ASPECT of it, similar to whats happened to Judo. Why dont you use some reading comprehension you fucking moron? Gracie Jiu Jitsu wasnt designed with elite athletes in mind who compete in sporting events, it was made for REGULAR everyday people to give them a fighting chance in defending themselves against an attacker in their DAILY LIFE. Once again try reading very slowly and use your brain to actually comprehend what I am writing you meathead, I really dont feel like explaining this again.
