      I just come thru SeaTac at Sept.3rd 2021 from International Gate, the S Gate, no confusion at all, we just follow the other passenger down one escalator for immigration passport control, and down one escalator again for baggage claim and go thru customs which was easy, then we go to train/subway area but we put our luggage again to a conveyor before get into the train to the main terminal, in the main terminal we look for our baggage at baggage claim 1 for international. After that we go to the shuttle, either outside baggage claim or go up elevator one level, go thru the sky bridge and go down one level again.... 😁

    For a true test of wits, try getting out of this concrete hellscape on foot. My hotel was 0.3 miles away but it might as well have been 8 miles away. I wandered for ages. Nearly every exit dumps straight into highway. I finally started following a crowd of maybe 5 pedestrians who seemed to be from North Africa. They weren't going to deal with this nonsense, and had a pretty deliberate stride away from the parking garages, so I let them lead the way. If it wasn't for them then I would've never made it out. There was one little side door that led to a dead quiet waiting area, it narrowed down to a tiny sidewalk that hugged the airport exterior then finally spilled into a 4 way intersection.
    Contrast that to any European airport. The Oslo airport for instance had a huge main entrance that led out to a street bustling with pedestrian activity, small shops, and beautiful architecture. It's such a shame that American cities are so built around the car. Not only is it ugly and dangerous but it removes the human connection between people, and is destroying our health because we sit in boxes all day, even in transit.

    • @Hipfig

      For travelers coming from Canada, you will have to go thru Immigration/Customs (US flights - Pre-Clearance center) at Vancouver YVR Airport. You land in the US as domestic flight.

  • @emikami1

    Dropping off checked baggage after customs and before getting on the airport subway to the 2nd baggage claim is optional. You can take your checked baggage with you after customs. If you're heading South to Tacoma or Lakewood, Sound Transit 574 ($3.75) bus stop is just outside the 2nd baggage claim to the South End of the building (much closer than the light rail area where Sound Transit 574 also stops). Unfortunately, this bus is a pretty steep loading height but the driver can help carry the luggage if needed. Some seats have more seat pitch to allow the luggage to be rolled in but it isn't recommended to use this option if you have more than one checked luggage and a backpack.

      @@Hipfig The new International Arrival Facility connected with the sky bridge with a moving walkway is going change a lot of this. My understanding is that you no longer will use that subway for international arrival. Instead, you use the bridge with a moving walkway, go through passport control, pickup luggage, go through U.S. Customs then simply exit. No more 2nd baggage claim so it is expected to cut the process by 5-10 minutes. I think the expected opening date was this fall but with these major projects, it may get delayed a bit. This sky bridge is high enough for a 747 to taxi under it: th-cam.com/video/A56eEljgwzQ/w-d-xo.html

      At Seattle Airport, after clearing Immigration and Customs, you can drop your Checked bags back at Seattle transfer belt outside Customs gate. Then take a train to the main terminal (Incl. main baggage claim) and pickup your bags at carousel 1 (Baggage belt 1). You can find this info in our video as well.

      Well, you will have to go thru Immigration, Customs, and security check (for connecting flight) at terminal S as you will be arriving from Paris (international arrivals). • @Hipfig

      As this will be your first entry port to US, You need to claim your checked baggage to clear customs after immigration (Passport control) and then again drop checked bags outside Customs gate on the transfer belt before the security check.

    • @Hipfig
      @Hipfig  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once you arrive in Seattle, after Immigration - pickup you luggage and clear Customs.
      Just outside Customs is a transfer belt for dropping your bags for the next flight.
      This transfer belt (on left side) for bag drop is just outside customs area before you go and catch internal Seattle Airport terminal train assuming you already have boarding pass for your next flight and your bags are tagged till Sacramento. There are also Airport Employees outside Customs door to help you with baggage transfer. Seattle is a small Airport as compare to LAX and SFO...so it is easy. Hope this info is helpful. No, your luggage will be checked-in till Sacramento (final destination). You change flights like domestic (one gate to another) in SEATAC as US Immigration/Customs (Preclearance) will take place in Vancouver Airport for you.

    • @Hipfig
      @Hipfig  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At SEATAC Airport, if arriving from International flight, you will go through Passport control (Immigration), pickup bags and clear customs. If you have domestic/international connecting flight then drop your Checked luggage back at transfer belt outside customs gate for next flight and follow transfer sign.You will go through security next to the Customs gate and then depending on your next flight departure terminal/concourse gate, you will take either train or go up at the escalators to the same terminal. After security check you are free to go anywhere in SEATAC airport secured area for you next flight.

And if so Why? When you leave a different country heading to the U.S. they check point your bag so there is No way to put something in it of danger we’ll just wondering if and why I would even need to check in with customs in the US, I’m also assuming at 7 pm there is food to eat that not all places in the airport are closed early
    PS…. I WONT be checking or picking up my bag it’s just a carry on

    • @Hipfig

      Yes, because Seattle will be your first port of entry in the US (before you go anywhere domestically the in the US.) So you will have to go through Immigration and Customs (incl. all checked-in bags check) at Seattle Airport. Seattle now has a new International arrival area (including Immigration and customs). Follow the directions once you disembark from your plane and you will be fine.

      Sometimes you do have to go thru security again if you're coming from another country. We had to when we were coming from Honduras to Texas and then to Seattle. The security was insane we had to do a passport check, then a dog sniffing station, and then another scanner. We were waiting in line for the final scanner when we came to the conclusion that there was no way we could make our flight. I went and talked to one of the security guards and showed him our ticket. They move us to another line that only had about 10 people in it. We were done with the last scanner and running for our gate in about 10 mins.

It is very straightforward as the small Security area is just outside the Customs exit gate for International passengers connecting to a domestic flight in SEA Airport.
