Got this guy today. Good review showing all the accessories and weapons. I think the Gundam mechas in this OVA were designed by Shoji Kawamori. (the guy behind the VF1 Valkyrie from Super Dimension Fortress Macross) The thing I like about is the legs don't have overly chunky flared out look to them. Many robot designs do that which ends up causing clown feet syndrome. IE bulky swollen ankles leading to oversized feet. Not this guy. Everything is compact and sleek; giving the mech an agile look to its body like that of an athelete which is a contrast to the Zeon's more 'Sumo Wrestler' body type for their mechas. Shooting Zeon (due to them choosing bulky forms) is a lot easier than GM and Gundam because the latter has slimmer form, suggesting a focus on speed over brute force. Feddies were the first to create beam weapons that could slice through armor with ease so going with slimmer forms for their mechas made sense. Also due to the fact that beam weapons are also more accurate at long range than ballistic weapons so being smaller made it a bit harder to see at range. Bigger is never better if it's a shooting battle with accurate beam rifles. But in the absence of beam weapons prior to the Gundam being invented? Having bigger sumo wrestler body adds an intimidation factor to the mecha. (ballistic weapons are close range so you get to fight at close range where scaring people with size can psychologically shock them.) It is clear the Zeon are made to look like the "bully" mechas with a power-lifter size and shape. While the Gundam/GM are the regular guy in armor and give off the 'underdog' vibe.
Sucks that this probably the only way to get a modern Gpo1 that is solid and in 1/14 scale ish. The hguc is very old and haven’t aged well. The rg looks nice, but it’s not solid what so ether. This is really the only option for a solid Gpo1 in somewhat of an 1/144 scale. Also the mg Gpo1 and FB also haven’t aged well. The Gpo1 doesn’t seemed to have the best luck compare to any of the other gundams.
Mr RE Yeah you would think being the main Gundam of a series, it would have more models and figures. I mean there’s nearly a 20-year gap between figures which is just crazy

Louis Leemans Absolutely! Robot Spirits figures are pre-made (as you can see when I pull it out of the box) and pre-painted. It doesn’t require any building (which means no chance for mistakes) and you don’t have to do any painting or anything like that. It’s ready to display immediately. Because of this, they typically have a higher price tag than a model.
@@UCRDReviews thanks for the reply! Long time ago i got a robot spirits model for my bday from my father when he went to jpn. I loved it! It was a green and white one with a red hexagon at it's crouch 🤭 so when i build a gundam from scratch, will it be the same quality build wise?
Louis Leemans You’ll have to put the effort to paint it and buff it and all that stuff to make it look like a Robot Spirits figure. And you’ll need some tools to do that as well.
M.P Panca I think it looks weird because it’s thicker than it should be. But had it been the appropriate width, you would break it if you looked at it wrong

This has high potential to be my favorite robot damashii. My favorite Gundam series besides 08th Ms team. I can't wait to get gp02

This is my second favorite Gundam behind the Wing Zero, I hope the take out the Full Burner version too.
