- Hello friends,
I have been looking for a casting for the BMW M3 GTR for a long time. I would love to make a BMW M3 GTR from Need for Speed Most Wanted. As a big fan of BMW and also a Need for Speed player, building this car is a must.
But apparently the painting process is not as easy as imagined. I have to repeat up to 5 times and just get results that are still not perfect. This makes me very frustrated ... hahaha. And that made me skip a lot of work to record. I think I still have a lot to learn painting techniques.
And this is the result. Sorry if it's still not perfect.
But I hope, this custom work can bring your sweet childhood memories 😊

Great work TG! A couple of tips for you on the paint/masking. Try using Tamiya Masking tape. Its more expensive but works much better. And after masking tape is applied, do a a light clear coat first. let that dry then apply your colour. The clear coat stops a lot of the paint "bleed" at the masking tape edge 👍😉🤩✨ Beautiful model though and love the details you do Sir. Peace, respect and stay safe, Ben

I can definitely feel the pain when the masking job fails and the paint peels off with the tape

This is great. Most people don't know the difference between a regular M3 and a GTR , color in a regular M3 casting with some markers and be done with it. You also added the fender flares. My only nitpick is that I wish it had the bigger bumper like the GTR too

For the painting:
my ideas were using different tape (in germany we say "goldband) thats a really good tape for things like that
Another idea were: Spray silver let it dry and then Spray blue (when its not to thick then) .. cause then you have that silver color what goes a bit under the tape and only the blue color on top for a nice straight edge😁

One input if you don't mind: there are some Matchbox models that have the ten spokes wheels, which will make it more similar to the actual game car.
