Wow I'm impressed by your senses! You nailed it. Actually that move is called "Shorreh" which in Persian/Parsi means "flowing". 👌

Baglama was developed much later than Tanbur. Tanbur was originated in Median Empire in Iran and then went to central Asia during the Persian empire and the silk road! :)

It is like ancient jazz. A river of sounds. A play. A genius of guitar. In my intuitions this is one of the roots of quitar. I have the feeling the quitar is a tool from the very old past of the travels, nomad people and horsemen. Even in our times, the country music, the amercan music is associated with image of horses , with their rith. I think the origin is somewhere in Est Asia: Iran, India, Mongolia.

Thank you very much for your reaction and attention to this music
A brief description of the tambourine that I hope you like:
Tambourine making is attributed to Iranians and from the oud family. The tambourine is the oldest wound stringed instrument,
This means that it is the first instrument that has long handles with bowls and chords.
Researchers date the instrument to between 1500 and 2,000 BC.
The tambourine has a mystical and epic character compared to other instruments. For this reason, this instrument is used to play more epic pieces.
There are different types of tambourine, which are: Quchani, Shervani, Baghdadi, Ctesiphon, Chegoor and Qupuz tambourines and two strings.
Playing this instrument with similar shapes has been common in most parts of Iran from the past to the present.
The tambourine is a stringed instrument in which strings are passed through long handles and bowls and are played with the tap of the fingers.
The tambourine is played with four fingers of the right hand without the use of artificial beats, and the techniques of the left hand are similar to other stringed instruments such as strings and setar. The main percussion of the tambourine also includes the types of right, left, city, small, inflorescence, bud, left and right percussion.
Always be happy with music and of course
    🙏💖

The percussive/scratchy sound occurs automatically when your fingers hit the sound board whilst simultaneously hitting the strings when strumming. You can increase/decrease the effect depending on the position of the strumming hand.

An Iranian here. Thank you Deniz for requesting this. One quick note. I see people in comments suggested this instrument to be Seh-taar (three stringers) but it is not. This is Tabur, a very ancient Persian instrument, sacred for Sufis (along with Daf). A very similar instrument to Tanbur is Dutaar (two stringers). The two instruments are almost identical visually but their harmonics are distinguishable. Please watch this clip for Dutar; and get a bonus of Quannon (feel free to react of you'd like to)

Hey john thanks for the clip it was great
As for the current instrument i should say it is Tanbour and it is one of the Persian traditional instruments
We have great many more every one with its very distinct sound
You can search the internet for Keyhan Kalhor
He is an amazing Iranian artist with the Kamanche one of the other persian instruments
And also Santur is another persian instrument with a beautiful distinct sound
Try them and will be the fan of persian music i'm sure

It is not the Setar, look at its body size and right hand techniques he's using... Definitely a Tanbur. This shouldn't even be a question between Iranians, come on guys...
