1. Increase streamable titles 2. Owned titles streamable. 3. Media streaming 4. Pro version basically the dualsense edge version, back buttons, profiles, removable joysticks, ....
Yeah I think that will be the big one they will be looking to rollout once the beta ends and releases properly! Is that the update you hope to see next?
@@MooMooTheWolfI agree with you. I’ll probably get one and use it for cloud until I can buy my own games and then cancel the prescription of it does end up working like that
Definitely the best next move, I don't own one yet but that would sway me to buying one, also if you could play digital games you own off line without internet where it's not needed, ie, dead space and games that don't need online 👍🏻
If they add the entirety of the plus library then I will officially be blown away by this thing. The recent beta has already been an extremely impressive update but it’s right on the cusp of being undeniably great
The standalone solution will take the form of a USB-C add-on that connects to the underside of the Portal. This approach allows for flexibility in catering to different customer bases: current owners can purchase the add-on at a reduced price since they already have the screen and controller in the form of the portal, while new customers can buy a Portal bundled with native gaming functionality. When they say, “it’s already out there,” they literally mean it-existing hardware will simply be enhanced with the addition of a processor and memory to support native gameplay. Heard it here first folks..
that sounds REALLY interesting, even the curved back on the portal would be perfect for slotting in the aditional hardwre sleekly behind the screen! what kind of power / price would you be thinking?
@ CPU and GPU Performance The addon would need a high-performance mobile chip capable of handling modern AAA games natively. This means A chip like the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme (used in the ROG Ally) or an equivalent ARM-based SoC, such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 or Apple’s M-series (M1 or M2) if feasible, Sony do have a relationship with Apple now, but can’t see them letting their chips out in the wild. These chips can do AAA gaming while remaining energy efficient Integrated GPUs in such chips, like RDNA 3-based graphics (Z1 Extreme) or the Adreno 740 (Snapdragon), would be essential essential for high-performance rendering at 1080p resolutions. 16GB LPDDR5/LPDDR5X RAM: Storage 512GB min 1TB NVMe SSD, Expandable storage via microSD or similar is also essential. Another consideration is additional weight however it could be connected to the portal via cable allowing you to play anywhere with a small plug in device. Price I think if your taking out the screen and controller from the cost maybe as low as £300 for existing portal users, this would meant they could sell the portal and the native gaming add on as a bundle for £500.00 making it a better option than the Rog Ally and its peers. I hope this is the route Sony are taking.
Can pretty much guarantee it will be the same form factor as the portable was originally going to be a dedicated handheld. I really hope they keep the Portals form factor. I am also thinking they might release it a lot sooner than we think considering the Switch 2 is coming out soon.
I think they might struggle to fit it all in the portals current form factor as it would need a lot of cooling so maybe it would need to be a bit thicker, that would be cool if they launched sooner, are you going to pick up a switch 2 when it launches?
@purepsx Yeah a slight thicker back on the Portal for the internals would be fine. I just really like the Portal. I like that's it's different to all the other handhelds on the market.
I got mine yesterday and found out, that it's the thing I've been missing for GT7 on PS VR2. I don't have a monitor hooked up and play mostly through the VR. If the Portal is connected the Wheel still works. If I take off the VR, the image switches to the portal and I can continue on the menu and do everything else. Put on the VR again and the Portal stops the Image. It's perfect!
Maybe don't use the cheapest thumbsticks that drift with very little use. That could be next. Especially for what these cost vs what materials are in them.
I bought one the day of the BIG update and I was happy with the catalogue but if they make it able to stream new games from the cloud without a PS5(like the steam deck) I’m gonna be SO HAPPYYYY🎉🎉🎉🎉
If they are dead set on a digital future this would sway me if they allow owned digital games streamed to the Portal. I am mostly a physical guy but my digital library is growing thanks to the Portal. I have also double dipped some of my disc games to digital.
Playstation is a bit behind in the ecosystem but there getting there, next is video streaming but only their SONY stuff. Remember, if it can stream games it can stream videos. Add TH-cam & Netflix and it's a standalone system, I'm sure it had these capabilities from the start.
Yea I agree I think that will be heading to the portal, the Sony stuff anyways not sure about the other stuff, hopefully TH-cam at least! What feature do you want to see next on the portal?
W video pure but I have one question. You said that in the future you would like if you can stream all the games you own that’s not on the stream catalouge. Can you explain if that would work for someone using console share and offline play and doesn’t own the games.
Thanks fam! It would be allowing you to stream games which you own , so you have purchases that are in your digital library or you have claimed as part of PlayStation plus essential for example then they would allow you to stream them from the cloud. So just like we can stream games from the cloud right now via cloud streaming beta on PlayStation plus premium you would have your own game catalog of purchased games available to stream from the cloud also. Console share I think would work but you would still need PlayStation plus premium as I imagine they will link this feature to it. Stay tuned tho as when I hear more I will let you all know on the channel. What would you like to see from a future portal update?
Thanks for the response my guy. I would like to see they expand the games put on cloud streaming on the portal. It’s still in beta of course but we will see and I would like them to allow console share and offline play so if I have ps plus premium on one account and all my purchased games on another account so I can still play the games on the portal on the account that doesn’t have the games🙏🙏
I hope they make it where if you buy the game on the PlayStation, you can play it on the portable the portal or the PS5 it shouldn’t be like it was back in the day where you gotta buy separate games from the same company
Yeah I am excited to see what they do, as rumours so far are suggesting the new handheld could play ps4 and ps5 games natively but then may stream ps6 games? What do you think?
I love my portal now that the streaming has improved. My one real question is this: how do I allow my son to play on his Sony PS5 profile? From what I can tell, when I set up the PS Portal to my login that is the only way to play it. Am I missing something?
It’s a great device my only issue is connectivity. I have literally super fast internet and my console is wired yet every time I load up my portal it loads in 240P , The lag and latency is crazy , It can’t even handle a game like FC25 so really not enjoying my time with it I find myself turning it off and moving into the gaming room because of the connection issues being so bad. I think once they fix that , this will be if not the best hand held device on the market
Ah that’s put me off buying one abit. I brought a Logitech g cloud before and had the exact same even issues as you, even though I have good internet/wired connection. Yet my laptop remote plays not far off perfectly?
I just returned a sony portal because i didn't like most of the choices of the streamed games. But i would have loved it if digital purchases could be streamed too. And maybe steam Os. That would be serious. I would go back to the store and buy it for keeps.
Idc about streaming content I have a phone for that. I want to play what I want to play on the portal. I want to buy games and not only play what they allow me to. Ik it’s beta so I am hoping this is something that is added.
They’re obviously gonna make it with the maximum bit rate their servers can handle, or however much they want you to get , so why would you want any less? Same with resolution
@ you say that but they have been running at way less bitrate then now since it’s release I’ll like manual so I can choose my bitrate rather then be locked to what they think is best Strictly for remote play not for cloud streaming
No I am saying I hope they develop an option like this, but yeah it will probably just be digital games, will be handy if you have claimed lots of ps plus essential games each month. Are you mostly digital games or ps plus?
@purepsx I've been psn/ps+ for many years and have a huge(mostly unplayed) library. "Dead Nation" is the only game that I paid for and can no longer play, they want me to buy it again. Only 1 ps5 disc but 99% of ps4/ps3/ps2 are physical.
The withholding of bluetooth is this generation's cash grab, like storage cards were for the Vita. Not sure why Sony tries so hard to piss off their customers with every single release.
I have a portable, i buy it the dat the update drop but i dont play it like thats because i dont like the games on there, would love to play madden 2k call of duty😢
@@purepsx playing it threw cloud streaming, I don't own a ps5 console, I would like to be able to buy games from the store and play them digital on the portable
All it needs is TH-cam and more of our purchased library to be streamable ... The streaming selection is too week we need a multiplayer game that can be streamed ... I think it should give us at least Fortnite
Do you have a PS5? I've seen this post a few different times. If you don't have a PS5 and have never set up an account, you have to log into your PS5 account on your mobile device first to accept the terms and agreement.
Ive had mine for about 2 weeks now and i play alot of gta online. Connection and stream are perfect, but that slight delay in the input can get annoying but as you said you just have to adapt. Great vid btw 👍

I just wanted to admit that I have watched a few of your videos but just now subscribed 😅
I think the next best thing to do would be allowing us to stream a vast majority of our owned digital games. At least owned PS5 games.

They have to do it like steam Deck, handheld to play all your games where you can download your game and twerk the grafics.
I'd love a dualsense edge version, back buttons, changeable joystick, profile selection, etc.

How to play the portal away from home with my hot spot

As of the fourth quarter of 2024, Meta's Threads has approximately 275 million monthly active users.
I had to send mine back because every cloud game I tried to play returned "something went wrong".

@christopherreid3253 I tried to use mine after the update but before re connected to the ps5, that was my issue
Really? Did you contact support to try and figure out what was going on?
Ahhh that’s a good tip for users if this fixes that problem!
Doesnt the lag in the analogue sticks annoy you?
No, hardly any lag I notice, plus if there is you adapt and get used to it , does it annoy you when you use your portal?
What lag?
Yeah I don’t notice any seems great when I play it, how have you found your portal?
