Another way to dispose of some spell remnants (ashes, liquids, etc.) that one could want to use flowing water for……is the toilet. Flush! And you know that it will be cleansed before being added back to the water supply!
I’m very hesitant to flush anything only because waste is discarded that way, and I don’t want the universe to think I’m throwing away the spell like poop is. Just my theory.
One important point when disposing of something in a river,/creek/brook/etc.: make sure you dispose of it DOWNSTREAM of your home, otherwise the running water will carry what you're "disposing" right back to where you live.
Something important to remember is that some products are labelled as "compostable/biodegradable" but they need extreme heat or processing to break them down, so make sure you're being v careful with any plastic alternative type things because they could still be harmful to wildlife 💖
Thank you so much for voicing this, Olivia ❤ Have seen wayyy too many witches suggesting getting rid of spellremains with silver tape, paraffin wax, salt etc into rivers or right into the ground… If the Earth is already helping with one’s spell, no way does she deserve to be thanked in a way that hurts the soil/waters etc.. much love from Sweden x
OH MY VARIOUS GODS, FINALLY someone talks about this! Thank you sooo, so, so much, Olivia! 🙏 This is something literally no witchcraft book that I've read so far was talking about, same with witchy content creators I follow. I was always wondering how to dispose of spell ingredients, but even more: offerings! I always wondered if there is a respectful vs disrespectful way to do this, especially when it comes to offerings (for example food offerings that just get bad after a few days max) and when you live in the city and don't have the opportunity to give natural ingredients or offerings back to nature / have your own compost and stuff like that. Is it disrespectful to just throw it in the trash? I really needed this video, so thanks again. (Okay, I needed to get this out first, now I'll watch it and see if any more questions pop up. 😄)
@@TheWitchOfWonderlust Thank you, that's amazing! 🙏 Will definitely do that, I watch every single one of your videos anyway, so I won't miss it. 🤗 Also the video on the complete spell walk-through from decision/idea to execution and ending the spell with disposing of the ingredients is a fantastic idea, would love to see that from you! 🙏 Hope you have a wonderful day! 🖤
That must depend on the gods. Ganesha hates his offerings thrown in the trash. But yet again they're mostly candy and peanuts, so I can accumulate it in an airtight container and burry it in the summer. (I would not just leave it outside though, I neighbor dog can get poisoned. BURRY. Alcohol can be used to light offerings on fire and burn them, but I never tried that. The same way, wine offerings I always throw in the sink - but not the toilet, I've had divine complains last time I tried that.
@@TheWitchOfWonderlust I look forward to this! I have ideas for what I want to do for my makeshift altar space but I can never find stuff on my own so your videos and videos of others that are part of the Craft are very helpful!

Being a lawyer, it’s so funny to me how similar witchcraft is to the practice of law. The lawyer answer to basically any question is: “it depends.” It just lends a lot of credence to the whole “lawyers are fae” theory… 🤔
this video was so informative. i live in an apartment in a city so i can’t really bury anything. like my only option would be public parks which seems a bit, ya know, shitty for a multiple reasons. as “boring” as it may be, sometimes you just gotta yeet those ingredients in the dumpster so you don’t harm anyone

I've never felt comfortable with burying something dangerous/ ecologically irresponsible so thank you so much for addressing this and validating my thoughts!
I am a baby witch too and I was really worried I would mess something up if I’d just threw away the ingredients (I’ve been using candles a lot). I couldn’t get behind the idea of burying my candle wax that just seemed so wrong. I’m glad I found this video 😅
I usually compost my leftover ingredients if it doesn’t include salt I throw those herbs in my compost pile which then fertilizes my garden. It’s a nice way to recycle them imo and the energy goes into the growing plants which I really like. I usually only do this with things like protection and money magic or non-baneful work though.
I do it very simply I live in an apartment, most things that are used go in the trash, spell bottles go into cupboards and herbs, small bits and paper and such gets burned in my cauldron. Things like jars, crystals and other reusable things gets cleansed and reused. Food stuffs the local birds can eat, such as bread gets set out for them.
Yesss!! I've been longing for a video like this. I have scraps of ingredients and finished incense sticks that I had no idea what to do with. Decided I wanted to empty it every new year as a way to start fresh 😁
Thank you for this video! I had been taught to bury things like glass candles after certain spells. I could never do that, as that's harming the environment. I always wondered if there were consequences for my spells due to this. I knew I was doing the right thing, but its nice to hear confirmation from someone else. You've put my mind at ease!
How helpful and conscientious. I love the idea of recycling ingredients and giving unused ingredients back to the Earth. Hugs, health, and happiness from Las Vegas
I’m fairly new in the Craft, but I felt like sharing my methods might be helpful to someone. Personally I’ve always utilized one of the elements to release a spell into the Universe. The reason I have always done this is because every practitioner I’ve talked to has released a working either by burying, burning, dropping the spell into a body of water, or tossing it into the wind. Just as many spells are activated/born from one of the sacred elements, so to can a spell be released by them. I really connect with the element of fire, which is why I do a lot of cauldron spells. If the spell was an attraction spell I will keep the left over ashes in a little charm bag that I carry with me. However if the spell was a baneful working, I’ll toss out the ashes using one of the elements like I previously explained. Hoped this helped! Blessed be!✨
I really appreciate this video, this was always something I wondered about. I would always feel bad when I would thank my candle stubs etc. and just throw them away (especially because I do have a yard I could bury it in) but burying it never felt right and now I know why. Feeling pretty vindicated rn
Olivia you are amazing! And please to all of us, please don't throw plastic and dangerous items out in the waters! I honestly just thank them and throw them in the recycle bin as Olivia instructed!
Thank you so much for this. You answered a specific question I had and I hope everyone does Nature to Nature and I always think respectfully. It is difficult living in an apartment and I'm in the Bible belt as well so I need to be sure no one sees me do anything. 🍂🍁❣🎃
I just wanted to add that more things can be harmful to water bodies than people think, it’s not just like trash or plastic. I did a study in uni about how caffeine/coffee affects organisms in rivers. The effects of all the coffee we dump down our drains are devastating on marine life. Just because something is “natural” doesn’t mean it’s safe for you to pour it into water. So check how the herbs and ingredients you use will affect marine life before you just decide “whatever its just water”.
I have a large pot on my deck where I bury my spell ingredients. I often use seeds in my offerings, and when they have been accepted, I also dispose of them in that pot and I have gotten some very interesting things growing in there! But this way, you don't really have to worry about anyone coming across the pokey bits or harming nature.
This is yet another advantage to getting crafty and creative with a few easily obtainable and versatile items in your spells instead of A Long Mandatory List of Special True Magical Objects - a lot less headache afterwards
i usually throw most of my ingredients outside in a hole, but for like crystals and reusable items I cleanse them very well and keep them for similar purposes (ex: banishing crystal for banishing magick only)
I always had a hard time looking for information about this topic - I could barely find it in books, blogs and podcasts. Thank you so much for this video, it's so appreciated!!

After watching some of your other videos... seeing the acorns in this video made me laugh at the thought of you banishing the squirrels in your yard xD
Watching this video I remembered I had a witch bottle at my front door from a witch I am no longer friends with. I got super creeped out and found it, ran outside and chucked it in the trash tote. I said something like “release from me 3 x’s. So more it be!” I came back inside and found a small mirror in a drawer and taped that next to my front door. And then smudged my whole front door. woosh! Synchronicity is amazing!!!
Honestly, I came for validation haha. I have often worked with things I wasn't comfortable burying in a public space or releasing into a body of water, and I was left with only the option to simply throw it away. Everywhere I looked told me to 'release it back into nature' but, like you mentioned, synthetic wax was not something I felt would be appropriate to do so, ESPECIALLY because I'm a guest in another country, and I felt it was disrespectful. Not to mention I live in a city with not many parks or natural areas, so really, most spaces are public or communal. I'm so glad you made a video about this~
Thank you for this video! I honestly wish more people were more conscious about what they buried. I redid my money bowl yesterday and I buried the ingredients in my back yard, I hope that maybe those ingredients will help bring more money to my house as they decompose. If not I’m still fine with it in ny back yard. I’ve seen people burning hexes in their own yard and that just kinda makes me nervous lmao.
Living in an urban area, small town but still not really out in the middle of nowhere, I literally throw away any spell ingredients exactly as you said. I thank them and into the trash they go. I think anyone who may be alarmed or upset by this way of thinking may not necessarily consider that, especially living on a rental property, that you can't exactly go digging holes wherever you want or if not many people know about your practice, throwing things away is the most secretive.
This is so helpful, I do pretty much entirely candle spells, so I burn my ingredients with my intention. Here's the problem with that, my candle becomes a MESS, so after every spell I have to clean it out with a q-tip or smth and I can't really keep the wax and the stuff in it. I've never known what to do with it lol
Best is burning with a oil potion feeded with intention/spell/ritual as applicable for of dismantling them. If the spell is by self the ingredients will dismantle to neutral meta properties. For spells by others the casting person is required !! We have to know who casted it !! Now when I say know means full of knowledge about conditions of life of that being. Including his/her strengths, weaknesses and cons. Have a great day Olivia.
Great video that covers a very interesting topic. I would add - check your local, traditional ways of dealing with such "leftovers". I usually burn a lot of the things, since I do have a handy fireplace. But yes, throwing things in the garbage is something that I do, too. And it can actually be part of a spell - throwing away something you no longer need. :D
I would hope that people aren't upset about your answer to reuse / discard haha most of us have that ingrained into us as witches, it just makes sense to be thrifty / giving it back to the earth in that regard
Merry Meet ❤ my question ❓⁉️ I'm doing regular protection spells and other "good intention" spells and was wondering if I could place the ingredients of these spells in the same jar, just layering them. Not sure if doing this will maybe confuse things?? Tia. Blessed be 🤗
For ingredients that can’t go into nature but what the spell away from you more quickly you could find a bin away from your property e.g at a car park for a woods
Thank you for another great video. I wasnt sure what to do with mine as its got as mine ingredients vinegar and chilli in it so i cant dispose of it in nature and burying it i cant do. So at the moment its on my altar 🤔
Hi Olivia. I love your videos. I have a dilemma. I work at a storage site and when units go delinquent they are sold at auction. If they don't sell I am responsible for cleaning them out. Occasionally I find spell jars and bags. What is the proper way for me to take care of these? Treat them like they are mine and dismantle and dispose the way I would my own?
Could you reuse some of the ingredients/herbs for new spells or do you have to dispose of them after a single spell and start another with all new ingredients?
A question: do you ever reuse spell components? I also live in CO and acorns can be hard to come by here. And you can’t exactly buy a bag of rusty nails at the hardware store! 😅 do you ever reuse things like this (cleansing them of course) of do you see them as expended afterwards?
What about honey jars and freezer spells? Can I reuse the jars? What if I move to a new location with a shared freezer, but I'm still wanting the spell to work, but I don't want other people in the house to know what it's for, are there any solutions for this?
I would start from scratch with new honey pots, etc. Release the old ones with a blessing. Start new. With a new jar I always recommend cleansing the inside of the jar with incense. Before filling it with a new spell.
I have so many questions. I want to making a binding spell, with a poppet. I wanted to bury it to keep the spell active, cause I heard somewhere that mother earth can charge a spell. But not sure if my poppet will be eco friendly to bury. Do you have any suggestions for me on what I can do to keep the spell up without having to work it? Like any items or something that can super charge my spell?
I did throw two kind of protection, kind of "you f_cked around now you're gonna find out " spells in the city trash as a way to 'carry' the target where he belonged and take the negative away from me. 😁
Hi i have a question. is it okay to dispose the ingredients such as candles in the garbage?actually i wanted to undo the love spell that i have casted and to undo that love spell we have to burn those ingredients used in it.but i have already gotten rid of those ingredients.i have thrown them in the garbage. now what should i do?how do i undo the lovespell?is throwing love spell ingredients in garbage is dangerous?
I remember when I made a love spell bottle and placed it in my closet, which happened to be right next to my sisters room. She ended up getting someone instead.
dang it feels counterproductive to throw away protection spell ingredients but I always use salt in those so I can't really bury them :') But thank you for the explanation this was super helpful for other types of spells too!!
So what if I want my spell ingredients to be far away but they are biodegradable? It's more environmentally friendly (and feels most appropriate) to return them to the earth, but I don't want to put them in my backyard compost or bury them on my property, and it doesn't seem right to put them in a park somewhere either since those are spaces I visit and enjoy. Do I just find a gloomy patch of dirt somewhere far away where I don't normally go?
I’d say find a place that the energy feels Protective and the spirits there are willing to work with you, and bury it there if the spirits are willing.
for other witches who work with spirit guides (or just anything similar) - how do you dispose their offerings & how do you know when to do so? this is something I can't really figure out and it's why I tend to offer mostly stuff like beads & shells and little knick knacks that my spirit guides like. they're not like mad at me for not giving them stuff like apples or acorns or anything, but i just feel bad cause i want to be able to offer more, i'm just not sure of when & how to dispose of them afterwards
If I offer spirits food or something to drink, I like to offer them something from my plate or cup and if they are okay with it, we just share the offering. Most of the time, they are okay with it, because they know, I hate wasting food. 😂 I keep cones and other earth's treasures for them around, but I only keep a few of them. And sometimes I charge the items with energy I want to give them. With some spirits, I don't offer physical items, but instead I do stuff for them or dedicate activities to them. It can be simple things like saving energy by turning off the light. 😂
Omg i burried a picture of someone , it was a spell but the spell diesnt work anymore cuz the ingridients arent on it anymore . I burried it in the back yard but i dont know if thats the righr thing to do
What if its a meat spell? I can not bury it there is no area to bury it. So i put it in an ecobag and put soil with it. Can i throw it? Or really need to be bury
I heard that if you use ingriedients in a spell, their energy is going into the spell. So after the working, can I still use the ingredients for sth else? Or is it energyless then? I made a protection talisman and used salt and herbs etc, can I use them after the working for protecting my home or are they then out of energy? 🤔 or is it a different thing and I need to use ingredients specific for every purpose any time? I love your videos thank you for the great content Lots of love 💕
hey this is offtopic but could u help me ? answer this question? alright so my “friend” , told me lilith was upset with me & she was trying to hurt me (for no reason) .. he told me to do a ritual with him & my other friend.. (long distance) . He told me lay on my back with a necklace of lilith sigil pendant , & my friend being the bait , after all that my ribcage started to hurt or feel weird .. he told me it was a exorcism but I don’t really trust him or know .. what does this do? bind you?
I would strongly recommend looking into cleansing and unbinding rituals just to be safe. you're not in grave danger but you were definitely coerced which isn't okay. always be wary of mystics and witches who proclaim that ONLY THEY can save you from possession or the wrath of a god or some other arbitrary "evil" you've randomly been hit with.
This is why I am a kitchen witch I eat my spells lol. Those ingredients cost too much to throw away.
Just yesterday I had this same idea. I made a tea spell then drank it. Highly convient for busy city life. Ritual& breakfast at the same time!

I'm so glad you made a video about this~
Could you please make a video on banishment rituals, watchers, and other types of spirits? Here from The Green Witch’s video
Thank you 🧙♂️
Thank you so much, Olivia. This video literally came up at the right time for me. I'm saving this for future reference for my practice! 😊💙
Splendid video, very informative. Merry meet merry part and blessed be 🌙
I wish I had this last week 😂
Note to any that use paper in there spells of any kind you want to burn the spelled paper before disposing of said spell paper
Makes total sense.❤
Thank you..your great.i love your videos.please don't stop..and maybe a few books of spells you recommend????
Thanks Olivia
Merry Meet ❤ my question ❓⁉️ I'm doing regular protection spells and other "good intention" spells and was wondering if I could place the ingredients of these spells in the same jar, just layering them. Not sure if doing this will maybe confuse things?? Tia. Blessed be 🤗
Excellent video! very thoughtful info 🖤
Can u please make a detailed video on freezing spell?
For ingredients that can’t go into nature but what the spell away from you more quickly you could find a bin away from your property e.g at a car park for a woods
Thank you Olivia
YES FINALLY. THANK YOU. OMG.
Thank you for another great video. I wasnt sure what to do with mine as its got as mine ingredients vinegar and chilli in it so i cant dispose of it in nature and burying it i cant do. So at the moment its on my altar 🤔
thank you ❤
Are there types of spell casting that wouldn’t require ingredients? For example, maybe writing? And how would one go about it?
I would love to keep learning from you
How would you recommend I dispose of the wax and ashes from the hemp string from a third party removal spell?
I love this video so much
Love your videos!
Awesome video!!
How would one go about recalling power that was given to others from themselves back to themselves?
Could you reuse some of the ingredients/herbs for new spells or do you have to dispose of them after a single spell and start another with all new ingredients?
this is what i wanna know
A question: do you ever reuse spell components? I also live in CO and acorns can be hard to come by here. And you can’t exactly buy a bag of rusty nails at the hardware store! 😅 do you ever reuse things like this (cleansing them of course) of do you see them as expended afterwards?
I need those earrings
What about honey jars and freezer spells? Can I reuse the jars? What if I move to a new location with a shared freezer, but I'm still wanting the spell to work, but I don't want other people in the house to know what it's for, are there any solutions for this?
I would start from scratch with new honey pots, etc. Release the old ones with a blessing. Start new. With a new jar I always recommend cleansing the inside of the jar with incense. Before filling it with a new spell.
@@karenfischer8519 Thank you so much!
Girrrrlll omg . You need a t shirt that says “ it depends “ ❤ facts
I did throw two kind of protection, kind of "you f_cked around now you're gonna find out " spells in the city trash as a way to 'carry' the target where he belonged and take the negative away from me. 😁
What about reusing ingridiences? Like a cinnamon stick i put into my moneybowl. can i cleanse and charge it when im making a new bowl and put it back?
I simmer things on my stove often . I could use a spell like this
What to do with spells written on papers without any other ingredients (for getting stuck money back) once we've received money back ??
So what if I want my spell ingredients to be far away but they are biodegradable? It's more environmentally friendly (and feels most appropriate) to return them to the earth, but I don't want to put them in my backyard compost or bury them on my property, and it doesn't seem right to put them in a park somewhere either since those are spaces I visit and enjoy. Do I just find a gloomy patch of dirt somewhere far away where I don't normally go?
I’d say find a place that the energy feels
Protective and the spirits there are willing to work with you, and bury it there if the spirits are willing.
for other witches who work with spirit guides (or just anything similar) - how do you dispose their offerings & how do you know when to do so? this is something I can't really figure out and it's why I tend to offer mostly stuff like beads & shells and little knick knacks that my spirit guides like. they're not like mad at me for not giving them stuff like apples or acorns or anything, but i just feel bad cause i want to be able to offer more, i'm just not sure of when & how to dispose of them afterwards
Great video!
I love your videos thank you for the great content
Lots of love 💕
You can reuse ingredients just cleanse them
So you're telling me I can't bury the bits of enriched uranium that I used for my love spell in nature? Well shit...
Me thinking about my lead based crystal haha
But we can tradesies
hey this is offtopic but could u help me ? answer this question?
alright so my “friend” , told me lilith was upset with me & she was trying to hurt me (for no reason) .. he told me to do a ritual with him & my other friend.. (long distance) . He told me lay on my back with a necklace of lilith sigil pendant , & my friend being the bait , after all that my ribcage started to hurt or feel weird .. he told me it was a exorcism but I don’t really trust him or know .. what does this do? bind you?
@thewitchofwonderlust
You are perfection
