    I thrifted this camera a few months back (actually have model 84) but haven't gotten to using it! This video is so helpful, thanks!

    The 8mm Zapruder film is the most valuable film ever made at $16 million dollars for 26.6 seconds of footage. Great timing and photography. RIP Mr. Zapruder.

    Just found one of these, and an old polaroid 340, together, both in great condition, in a real leather case still like new. It was all just sitting out near the road left as someones trash. I kept it just because it looked so vintage. But I have since learned that 25 feet of film is like 40 bucks. Probably more than the camera is now worth. Wondering how much the Revere 80 cost back when it came out.
    And when was that..in the 60s?

    Thank you for sharing these tips! The sound effects made me laugh. You really saved the day because I couldn't find any other informative videos about Regular 8mm cameras online. Cheers!

    I'm surprised that you didn't mention that this camera has a single-frame shutter. If you push the shutter release forward it exposes one frame at a time. I made several silly stop-action reels with this camera back in my college days.

    @2:50 what mm lens it is? If it says “1/2 inch” just convert inches to mm = 12.7 mm (no need for google, other than unit conversion)

    • @michaelraso
      @michaelraso 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Makes perfect sense! 1/2 = 13mm lens!

    Greetings, Michael. Perhaps you can answer: I have this exact camera. I came across it recently & noticed there is already film in the camera (& the footage counter tells me I've filmed just over 10ft. so far). I'm not sure if I'd already used the other side of the film/the other 25ft.. How can I know if at the end of this 25ft. that I have or haven't used up the other side? That is, how will I know if I should or shouldn't flip the roll of film over to shoot another 25ft.? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    • @FilmPhotographyProject
      @FilmPhotographyProject  ปีที่แล้ว

      Vintage film inside the camera is Kodachrome, which as of 2020, can no longer be processed by a commercial lab. Regarding flipping, please watch the video - the metal spool always remains with your camera EMPTY when shooting is complete.

      @@FilmPhotographyProject Thank you for your reply! Yes, I did watch your entire video. Love it! You did answer my question, too. By the way, I send my 8mm & super 8 film to Yale (out in CAL.) for processing.

    When you say to put it on the red dot, that is because the original 25 feet(7.5m) rolls came with 4 foot (1.25m) long protective strips at the start, that needed to be shifted through. So you would place it on the red dot, let it run until it hits 0 to get through the protective strip, and then you would have an accurate indicator of how much film you have left. However this new reproduction films are firstly not 25 feet(7.5m) but instead 33 feet(10m), and I am not aware but do they also come with these protective strips at the start ? Are these protective strips (if present) included in the 10m overall length ? Any knowledge you have on this would be most appreciated.

    • @michaelraso
      @michaelraso 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Foma is 33 ft (no protective strip - actually never heard of this). New FPP Cine 8 is 25 feet. When loading (especially in light) the first few feet are exposed si I stick by the "start at the red dot" direction.

    I just came across a Revere 8 Model 77 in my grandfathers storage unit. Does this use an 8mm magazine? I have some Fomapan film and would love to try it out, but I can't find a way to load it. I'm assuming it needs a magazine. Any ideas where to get one?

    • @FilmPhotographyProject
      @FilmPhotographyProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a Magazine 8 camera. The FPP sells 8mm Magazine film - out of stock as of today. Restock soon. Here's a video overview of 8mm Magazine film and how to use it - th-cam.com/video/kBYUIiazVmA/w-d-xo.html

    I have a Revere Model 8, Model 70 that uses a 8mm film magazine. Are the magazines available or is there a way to re-load them after using?

    • @michaelraso
      @michaelraso 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      8mm magazines are not available and when you can find them on ebay, reloading is tricky. Recommend the Model 80.

    Dumb question, but is the blownout white sprocket squares on the left something you added as a post-filming effect or really on the final film? Sorry if I missed this in your comments.

    • @michaelraso
      @michaelraso 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had the film scanned full frame to include the sprockets and (slightly) extra picture area. Projectors mat off the sides for a 4x3ish image. Just choice. Can easily be matted (pillar-boxed) in editing.
