Thank you!! I have so many others I’d like to do. The trouble is always having enough time to record, edit, add screencaps etc.

I'll have to get a copy of "Chandu the Magician" because my great uncle James Wong Howe was the cameraman for it. I'm also a Lugosi fan.

Wow that’s an incredible connection to have! Chandu is a fascinating film for its era particularly for the visuals and one of the iconic Lugosi performances.

    Zatara, Mandrake, Dr Strange...
Chandu really seems to be a precursor, and maybe the first, of the "magician" type of adventure hero.

Chandu beats Mandrake by about two years but there seem to have been a number of characters with magic and mysticism all at about the same time. I think it likely stemmed from the world's fascination with Houdini which of course became a gigantic part of the pulp Shadow's DNA with Walter Gibson being behind the character.

15:44 I think George Lucas probably saw this film as a child. It seems eerily familiar….

I actually dug Edmund Lowe in this. Maybe it was that devilish little moustache? I agree that the death ray stuff was amazing.

The more times I see the film the more I feel a bit more impressed with his performance. Maybe I just had to warm up to him in this film a bit more.
