One of the most popular features each time Diesel Nationals stops in Texas is the burnout contest at the end of the event. The winner is determined by the volume of the applause from the crowd following each competitor's attempt, so the crowd REALLY gets into it! There were a couple of tough competitors, but ultimately, one of the coolest slabs at the event ended up winning the $500 prize.

at 7:31 and 13:10 ... now that is a well tuned diesel. racing the only diesel LMP race car at Le_Mans taught me that rolling coal wasnt power but inefficiency coz it ain't trimmed right. Those engine were running great and that turbo was amazing!! hits me in he feels.

Or maybe it's because it's the norm to do burnouts in the waterbox at the drag strip..
***** That's because most those cars who need waterbox is because their tires are sticky enough to grip without slipping on a stall drop, since they can't clutch drop, and often will just push the front skinnies forward. A truck with tires from a garbage bin and 400ftlbs+ at 1000rpm should be able to do a burnout lol.
M773 a tuned diesel has more torque than burnout cars.... they can start them no problem

Why don't they take 2 measurements before quantifying a victor? One right before they cheer, then subtracting that value from the second measurement being total volume will cancel out elements such as engine drone and other sustained background noise.

Made in America from the people who brought you the treadmill, in Australia they have burnout contest in a parking lot with concrete barricades so you can move around and drift while you burnout... this is sweet but c'mon people stationary?

These aren't burnouts, burnouts are rolling. These guys are doing what's called a brakestand. Standing still without rolling forward. But you can do a brakestand to a burnout. From standing to rolling.

these guys need to learn about line locks it seems. disc rear brakes are proportioned a bit higher than drums making brake stands a little harder.
