Space 1999 will remain in the history of science fiction forever. In our country they broadcast it a few years after creation, but it was still so innovative that it seemed to come from another planet...nothing like it had ever been seen. Even today, I occasionally rewatch the series thanks to the DVD collection. Congratulations for the convention and greetings from Italy! 👏👏👏
As head of the team that ran the 1st SPACE:1999 convention back in ‘78 in Columbus, I want to thank you so much for continuing the celebration of this most wonderful show. You all have done an amazing job.
@NASAcat1982 - I just attended and filmed some of it, all credit (well deserved) goes to @warren1friedrich as well as Roy Bjellquist and everybody else who helped out
It wsa my favorite show as a kid. Way better than Start Trek. A onference without Marting Landau (RIP) though... can't be compltete. Hope Barbare is still healthy and strong.
So much fun! I remember watching every episode back in the 1970s. If I could go back in time to tell my younger self that 50 years later we would have a treat like this, I'm sure I would have dismissed the idea as pure science fiction! Thanks so much.
Great to see Clifton up and about! We were really worried about him a few years ago. We told Nick about what we had heard and he was terribly worried. So happy to see him out in public
@mcal27 undoubtedly, Clifton's appearance was one of the highlights of the convention - and as you probably saw in the video, Nick obviously thought so too!
I met Barry Morse in the 80s here in Nova Scotia, and it's always a thrill to see Nick, and great to see Clifton. I remember seeing Breakaway in September 1975 (I was 8 yrs old), but I actually saw it in French first, some episodes I never saw in English until 1978. After Breakaway's first airing here I immediately built a crude lego Eagle that I threw around the livingroom to simulate the crashes 😂 Best wishes to all the Space: 1999 fans wherever you may be.
@jimplaysric that's great you got to meet Barry Morse. He was scheduled to appear at the Space: 1999 "Command Conference" convention in 1995 which I went to, but unfortunately he had to cancel at the last minute, so I never got the chance to meet him. A wonderful actor.
I had the Mattel version of the Eagle when I was a kid. I can't remember what happened to it. I really want to pre-order that new one but it's a bit more than I can spend. Maybe. We'll see.
Greetings from Prague ! I couldn't attend, but thank you for sharing some of the highlights. If there's another convention next year, I'll be along. Thanks to our heroes for making the trip to meet their fans !
@@ModelbaseAlpha oh la la ! It’s a big chance to can go to this convention ! I hope you will go ! ( excuse my english ! Is very bad ) And i hopethe great Barbara Bain goes to ! Merci beaucoup ! Fantastic. Great to see Catherine Schell. She was of course incredible in Space 1999, but she made me melt in The Return of The Pink Panther (It was the laugh). Best wishes to all the cast, long may they reign. 🇬🇧
@@ModelbaseAlpha I completely agree. She seems like a truly lovely lady. There is a French TV interview with her on here and I was amazed to discover she lives about an hour from me. Best wishes mon ami, from an Englishman making armour in a French forest. 😉⚒️🇬🇧

Queintin was an extra on loads of shows … like in Minder, Dave’s ‘Winchester Club’. Has a kid, I used to think Dennis Waterman was Nick Tate and vice versa, they looked like brothers I guess.
I always catch these, ‘after the event’. Loved the show since 1973 and never been to one of these events… Nick Tate, I understand he’ll be flying an eagle very soon.
@thoughtsonfitness3249 there is going to be another one next year, but this time in Los Angeles, 12th-14th September. Nick Tate has apparently already confirmed he'll be attending.
Just think, when we watched this on tv way back in 1974 it would be another 25 years until we reached the shows future date......and now here at the opposite side, 25 years ater the shows future date.

@@ModelbaseAlpha Yup! it was right after Emerdale farm as i remember?? Could not wait for that to finish so we could watch Space 1999 HaHa
Space 1999 was one of those shows you wished back in the 70s that would've become reality on the moon.
An international moon base would've been cool.
@donaldkroth2579 yeah I know exactly what you mean! And I wanted to commute to it in an Eagle...
Thanks Mark 💯 😊

Interesting to have Brian Johnson‘s confirmation that George Lucas was open about his plan for nine Star Wars movies as far back as 1975.
