I hate to be that guy and want women to be paid fair. But the pay for women also relies on the fans that show up to the games, particularly women that need to show up to watch the games. If not enough fans show up, they are not going to get the money that they’re looking for. If the crowds are small, sponsors are not going to pay to market to small crowds which is another source of income. In the end, it is all simply economics.

If WNBA players were men they'd be going down the playground or the YMCA and playing pickup games for fun. Here in Australia we have the AFL and the AFLW. The mens league is very profitable. The women's? Well, I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it, let alone pay for a ticket or FOX subscription. That's the bottom line, it's not necessarily commercially viable, but prop it up they do, including wage increases while the AFL borrow more money. If they were to render equal pay, this would ultimately have come out of the men's wages, to make it any way possible. That is what you call reality.

Not even women watch women sports Tennis and Golf you can be millionaires but no one watches WNBA, Soccer, Football, Hockey, MMA, Boxing and others. There’s some tough women boxers and MMA fighters who deserve more money then men because they fight better. But women have stay home and watch sports and that will never happen. Men can spend hours watching football on Sunday or going out to a bar with the boys to watch a fight or a game. Women don’t want to do that.
