      You have to keep your smart bulbs on 24/07 - dont turn them off

    friend, thank you for your excellent work. Can I make a mix of zigbee switches, hue lamps and Yeelight or zigbee lamps on the home assistant, controlling everything remotely or locally with a hue bridge and use the ambilight and music function with this mix of brands? Does it work without loss of functionality? In this brand mix scenario, would Google Home work normally?

    • @eddiedsuza
      @eddiedsuza  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Samuel ... The hue app will tell which brands work its hub. With Z2M and HA - you can mix and match zigbee brands and its products. The ambilight function would only apply for the hue products and its friends.

    So I was thinking of getting some ikea devices into homebridge and HomeKit. I already have a hue hue so I was wanting to find a way to get the IKEA devices working through the hue hub, it’s this possible? And will I be able to do things like firmware updates?

      Your absolutely right ... the video shows that with Z2M you can integrate Philips Hue products without the need of an additional hub

    Eddie is there a limit of number of zigbee devices you can connect via MQTT / zigbee? And what is best way to convert 66 bulbs from Hue hub to zigbee?

    • @eddiedsuza
      @eddiedsuza  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hello Ted - from what i Know .... theres no real number on the devices to connect to Z2M. As long as you have routers spread evenly across your home which in case could be your bulbs as well. Will work fine. I installed for a customer villa around 78 devices i,e, switches, curtain motors, dimmers and bulbs ... Worked fine across 2 floors.

    I have a question for you - I have Z2MQTT installed and connected to home assistant -- and then home assistant connected to Apple Homekit and also Alexa. Does it make sense to connect to Apple Homkit from homebridge? or is it just fine with Home assistant?... What is your recommendation?

      Hey Joe - you use the Homebridge google plugin to add the devices to Googler Home. However philips hue hub as a direct integration as well.

    Came here as a result of Philips changing the terms (after purchase) of my Hue lights to require an online account to do anything.
    Hopefully dumping the Philips hub and switching to Zigbee2MQTT is the solution to keeping are home private from Philip's "partners".
    Otherwise it's going to be a case of binning all Philips products.
